For a distance kill, I prefer needles> As long as you're skilled in their use, they are far more accurate and thereby deadly than just about any other distance weapon(kunai, shuriken, ect). As far as close quarters combat, kunai work well as do elbow blades.

I just love kunais. They're so useful, like the way Shikamaru used his during his Chuunin exam versus Temari. I just think that it would be ideal alongside my favorite melee weapon: the tonfa. xp

quite frankly, i believe all ninja weapons are useful iwhen used at the right time and in the right situation but i do prefer using a kunai to a katana in long range (you can't attatch an explosion tag on a katana!) but if you're up close, a katana would be better. for multiple enemies, a staff or pole would be best suited for the situation.

overall though, i have to say the kunai is my favourite weapon. there aren't many weapons that are long range as well as close ranged. they can be used easily in plans (Shikamaru vs Temari and Shikamaru vs Tayuya) and are light and you can cary a lot of them. Just for the record, Kunai were the Yondaime's favourite weapon as well

Most ninja's have Shruikens and Kunai. Upper level ninjas have scrolls(for the most part)

I find that scrolls and kunai work the best. They are both long range and one is a stronger than the other one(matters on what spell you use or where you aim to have the kunai hit.)
