Well apparently American Tactical Imports lost the import contract, and now Safir Arms is importing them
themselves, via New Jersey.

A full upper half is $460, which I find to be quite reasonable, and you have your choice of fixed handle or flat-top, and rifle- or carbine-length handguard and gas system. You're forced to buy it with an 20" barrel, because laws, but with the carbine-length upper, you could chop it down if you so choose. Personally, I think it's an interesting piece of kit. In a survival situation, you could carry an AR for a rifle, and a second upper and spare .410 magazine for hunting. Given, .410 isn't an ideal bird load, but it's a damn sight better than .223.
