Have you heard about a certain James Soriano and his article about the Filipino language? If not, check this out: http://www.gmanews.tv/story/230585/nation/filipino-not-the-language-of-the-learned-says-columnist

What do you think? What do you feel about his article?

For real?

I've read nga. Sagad naman siya. Seryoso. O.A niya. Dapat sa kaniya pinapalayas ng Pilipinas!!! scream

Carried by emotions.

English may be our second language and is used often especially at work and school. Pero hello, I can't even express myself using that language. What can you say about other countries na hindi naman magaling mag English. Japan is one of those. Pero look at them now. It's true.

Exactly! Look where we are now.. Wala pa rin. 3rd world country.

As for me, English is just a second language. I used it more often pero mas mahal ko pa rin ang pagka Pilipino

He's one of those cowards who think they're so superior and elite, just because they know proper grammar and know how to speak English fluently with 'class' and 'poise'. What a shame. He even mentioned Rizal's famous quote, "Ang 'di marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa mabaho at malansang isda.", and thought that he understood it so well. When in truth, he didn't.
Yea, it's true that this is a "a society of rotten beef and stinking fish", but that doesn't make Philippines a little less than a nation, a country, a member of league EARTH. Amidst these "rotten beef and stinking fish", there's something about every nation that makes it so close to it's citizens' hearts. It's the sense of belongingness, the feeling of having a HOMEland.

I mean all of us have the freedom of speech but then saying those kind of words is really offending sad .
We are Filipinos.
We grow up as a Filipino.
So dapat tayo mismo bilng Pilipino dapat tayo ang mag-preserve ng sariling nating lingwahe. . .
At isa pa, no what matter how economically challenge ang Pilpinas that doesnt mean na pde n nilng i-neglect ang identity nila or parang pagkahiya na Pilipino cla, right?

May proposition kami na: Should Filipino be the chief and official language of education throughout Philippines?
There are just some exceptions that if taken lightly, will later turn into an issue.

Look at it this way. Kahit ilang beses kayo tumutol sa statement na iyan, the point is, IT IS TRUE. Wag ho tayo magsalita about being too nationalistic because you have to practice what you preach first. btw, maganda ang ginawa niyang column dahil it brought impact sa inyo. Peace! biggrin
