Omari had finally found the solitude he had been searching for during the last few days and it was in one of his usual spots. As a cub, he’d loved to find a perch on the rock formation by the beach. He was closer to the heart of the pride where the cubs and corsairs lived but it was unlikely that he’d be approached and even more unlikely that the loud Blou’Siel would find him here. Training was over for the day and now Omari wanted to spend some time alone - nothing wrong with that! One of his feathered companions was there as well but he hardly counted.

--------------------

Leaning gently against the lion’s paws, a green bird was resting as well. Eyes narrowed contently as he took the breeze and thanked the Lion Gods that he had managed to find this pride. It was full of excitement and mischief as well as other birds he could talk to. And it’s where he’d met the sand-colored lion, of course. The fact that the lion owed his life to a bird was the only reason why the green bird trusted the young lion so much when he was usually somewhat skittish around the big cats.

Like Omari, he had also been branded with an unfortunate nickname. Unlike Knut, his other bird, Galleon actually knew how and when to shut up. And so, cat and bird dozed off as the sum slid down the blue sky, enjoying each other’s (silent) company.

Uzuri hadn't stopped her work for some days now, harvesting fruits had taken it out of her, perhaps not the best time of year, some of the fruits were still ripening and thus little fell naturally from the trees and shrubs daily so it required her to physically shake them from the trees which was labour intensive. So one afternoon after transporting two fruits from the spot where she lay them to ferment in the sun to her cave which she stored the ones ready to be consumed, she decided to take the rest of the day off to simply lazy about and enjoy at her own leisure.

Something she had always loved doing was walking the tide line and searching for small treasures that the tide had turned up onto the beach. High tide had been and gone hours ago and if the ocean had turned up any hidden treasures onto the land they had all now gone but she enjoyed the walk along the beach none the less. It was as she walked the beach she spotted an adolescent male, thick black hair on his chest, back of the neck and head gave him his age. She smiled at the sight as he sun bathed contently on a large rock, a bright green bird resting peacefully at his paws. She hesitated on going up to the young male and disturbing his slumber, he looked so at peace.

Slowly desire for simple company of another got the better of her, she was sociable after all and lacked much contact with others since being banished from her home pride. Bit by bit she made her way up the beach to the male and then sat down some distant away but close enough not to feel alone she sat peacefully in his company.

Omari watched with one very thin blue slit as the lioness moved closer. She didn’t address him but sat close enough that he almost feel obligated to speak to her. Almost.

He had to admit though, she was rather pretty. Her graceful moves reminded him of the mermaid he’d met a few days before and her pink eyes were shining in the light like two tender beacons. Not he was paying much attention to her, hu-hum. With some luck she’d take a hint and leave after a while if he didn’t encourage her in any way. He had to give it to her though. The idea he had of most corsairs – pesky, meddling, annoying wenches even if pretty – didn’t quite fit in this case and he was glad she seemed to respect his desire for solitude.

Galleon assumed the slight restlessness he felt from his feline companion simply indicated he was about to start humming or perhaps even singing. It was something the green bird enjoyed which only served to relax him even more. As such, the last thing Galleon expected when he opened his eyes was to find a full grown lioness dangerously close to him.
With a loud screech, the startled bird took to the air in an instant causing Omari to nearly fall from their perch.

“GALLEON!” the sand-colored lion roared, visibly upset by the sudden disturbance.

Uzuri sat close enough to the lion in gentle slumber to be contented, conversation was not always a necessary part of interaction with another and often only hindered the pleasurable experience of enjoying the simple company and presence of another. She sat peacefully watching the sea, something she was quite happy to do for endless amounts of time, there was something soothing about that sound as the tide repetitively lapped at the shore, a low gentle hiss as the water drew back over the tiny grains of sand and then surged forwards again, it was lulling and brought peace to her soul. A loud screech came from behind and she was knocked out of her reverie.

She twisted her head over her shoulder to see what had disturbed the bird which seemed to have been comfortable as she'd walked towards them but nothing in the area suggested disruption and then a look dawned on her face, the bird was asleep when she and approached, was it she who had alarmed the bird with her presence. The male lion seemed to lose his balance when the bird took flight in a flurry of green feathers and instinctively she twisted her whole body, almost appearing to smoothly flip onto her paws as she took two steps towards the male in vain attempt to help him should he fall from his rocky perch. Before she'd even made her third step he seemed to recover his balance and shouted angrily after the bird.

'I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare your friend and I certainly didn't mean to disturb your slumber, you looked so much at peace... I just wanted a little company, I'm sorry.' Her voice which was usually gentle and soothing now was tainted with guilt and her widened light coral eyes displayed her feelings of desired forgiveness.

Small green feathers hovering all around him, Omari had a truly murderous expression as he looked up to the sky. It would be easy to blame the lioness for that whole mess but not really fair. And it wouldn’t make him feel any better.

“He’s an idiot. Just ignore him.” He said with a sigh, settling himself more comfortably on his rocky perch once again. “He doesn’t do well with lions. Well, cats in general.” The sand-colored adolescent didn’t even consider how contradictory those words must’ve sounded to someone who had just seen the bird sleeping at his paws a few moments before.

---------

Galleon was flying in circles high above but he was paying close attention at the lions below. He glared at the adolescent when he shouted, sending one angry shriek right back at him. Stupid Omari. Stupid, stupid Omari! He was startled! He was so scared! And he had to take that baby lion’s anger, too? Stupid Omari!

The lioness, on the other hand, didn’t look too bad. She sounded worried and he realized she might’ve been as startled by his screech as he’d been by the sight of her. Well, he wasn't planning on coming down just yet so he could keep watching her to see if it truly was safe to go back down.

Uzuri couldn't help but look up at the green bird circling over head when the male told her to ignore him, she felt partly to blame for alarming the bird. She watched as the rich golden male settled himself down once again upon his rocky perch and proclaimed the bird didn't like cats, at which she tilted her head ever so slightly at the contradiction he'd just made. Curiosity got the better of her and she took a step forwards, she had left a rather large gap between them before but if they were to converse, if only for a short time she didn't want to have to be calling across a large distance. Her voice held musical notes that portrayed her curiosity, 'So he doesn't like lions or indeed cats but he'll happily slumber upon your paws, interesting.' She smiled at the male, a sparkle glinting in her eye. 'How have you earnt the privilege of his company then?'

Wide circles, tiny circles. Galleon flew high above the lions' heads for a good while until he was absolutely sure he wouldn’t be in any immediate danger on the ground. Only then did he return to rocky perch but this he made sure he wasn’t touching Omari. As punishment (payback?) for being terribly unsupportive when he’d been afraid of the lioness, the green bird threw a fiery glare towards his large companion before turning his back on the lions and pretending they weren’t even there. Stupid Omari.

------------

Omari’s blue eyes shone with a good amount of interest as his contradiction was pointed out to him and he lifted his head to look at the lioness carefully. It was as if he’d never really thought about it for very long. The birds were just annoying pests that had slowly grown on him. Not that he’d admit that last part anytime soon.

“Privilege…” he snorted quietly under his breath, eyes looking for the shape of his newest familiar. “I have another bird that follows me around. I guess they just flock together.” It was as good as an excuse and anything things else he could think up on the spot. There were many lions in the pride that would probably appreciate the company of his familiars far more than he did. Maybe one that they'd realize that but for now, the two birds were stuck to him somehow and that was all there was too it.

“Ye gonna sulk now? Really?” Omari said as Galleon made a very obvious effort to ignore the lion.

Uzuri smiled softly at the young male as he snorted at her use of the word privilege and his reasoning for why the birds flocked to him for company. She could tell however the male was fond of the bird and though both he and his bird was now sulking with one another their was a bond there that'd last some time yet. She made now motion to come any closer but she watched the bird in amusement as he came to land back down on the rock and turn his back to the young lion, seemly ignoring his protector but that tell tale glance over his shoulder spoke of how he was checking to see if the lion was going to make an effort to fix the bond. She kept her smile as she watched the private interaction between the two and was glad they felt somewhat comfort to display this close exchange in front of her, though she doubted the young male was aware of the tenderness he showed to the bird as he jested with him about his behaviour.

The bird still carried on ignoring the lion and Uzuri took her cue to introduce herself, 'My names Uzuri, I've not long been here. I only meet Pirato the other day.' She stated simply and waited to hear a response from the young male.

Omari huffed softly as he realized he was indeed being ignored by the green bird. He supposed that was one way to keep him quiet. His eyes travelled to the pale lioness – Uzuri? – and he watched her in silence for a few seconds after she introduced herself. It was somewhat bothersome but he knew he was supposed to give his name in return. Still, she was rather pretty and that was something the usually gruff lion found himself incapable of ignoring so he opened his mouth to answer the beautiful corsair but was suddenly interrupted.

--------

“I’m Galleon. And the rude one’s name is… Es’kuro.” Galleon said quickly, as if to show he was willing to acknowledge and talk to anyone but the blue-eyed lion at the moment. He had almost introduced him by his real name, which would’ve been a terrible blunder even if he felt Omari had wronged him so he was glad he had been able to correct himself on time. With his back still turned to the adolescent, the green bird continued quietly. “You won’t get many words out of that idiot. All he does is sleep and watch the sea and sing songs.”

--------

Omari growled lightly as he was cut off by Galleon but nodded lazily to the pale lioness, as if to indicate . It wasn’t really a proper introduction – he didn’t even say whose ship he was part of – but he supposed it was good enough. It was now his turn to ignore the green bird and he pretended not to hear Galleon as he kept on talking as if Omari wasn’t present. If he were to join in on the little exchange, he'd probably say that he also did other things - like train and avoid Blou'Siel - but let his head rest on his paws once again and simply sighed discreetly.
