It had been very bitter sweet for Azar recently. She was proud of herself, very proud. She had been promoted, finally, and she really could have never been happier to be promoted. She was always aiming for the same thing. She had been wanting to be promoted for a long time. She wanted to make her mother and her father proud she really did. She wanted to make them extremely proud. At the moment now, she was where she wanted to be. She was proud not only of that but her children that were growing into their paws.
However on the other hand there was one thing for sure and that was that she really had been getting frustrated over the drought thing. The pride had been split and she was really wishing that she could celebrate her new rank in different circumstances, but she knew that as it appeared, that wasn't going to be what was happening. So for now she had to do it no matter how bad it seemed. Everyone was pulling through and although there were some injuries there were no deaths and that made Azar happy. She was helping out however she could, where ever it was needed she was leanding a paw, working with everyone she could.
She was up early this morning hoping to get out and start wokring again. She said goodbye to her mate and headed out of the den starting her rotation around the pride. She wasn't very interested into the water searching herself however she tried to help in what ever other ways that she could. It was tiring though. To a point she just wanted to give up, hwoever Azar wasn't the type to just give up.

Kasi wasn't the type to give up either, which was why she rose early, preparing to help search for water even though it was not her job. She was fit, and able, so why shouldn't she look for water too? She wouldn't spend all day out in the desert, she would return after a few hours and do her own training, but for the moment, she was able to help. Just because they had voted and made their decision didn't mean that they were to stop looking. Equality meant everyone was equal with water, and Kasi fully intended trying to help people get that water if she could.
She was setting out from the dens when she spotted a familiar figure starting her rounds and she couldn't help but smile a little.
"Azar!" She called out, eagerly, hoping to get her Mentors attention. She set off towards her, changing her course so that she would cross paths with her instead of moving passed her.
"I hear congratulations are in order!" The news of promotions had spread quickly, and Kasi had been thrilled to hear Azar's name amongst the talk. The situation in the pride was still rather serious, but the promotions had been happy news amongst the dreary.

Azar had been up for a good amount of time right now. She was awake and had been for a while and she wasn't that happy about still being awake with out rest but at the same time she knew that it was a really good thing to be doing the job that she was doing now, she was happy to take on this responsibility. She had been wanting that responsibility for all of her life She had been waiting and fighting for it and was so ready for it. She flicked her tail around behind her as she started to wander her way back toward the den, she was ready to go home and get some sleep however as she walked she heard a voice that made her turn her attention in the direction of the other lioness, Kasi.
She knew Kasi pretty well. She had taught Kasi since she was younger she had grown to know and love the lioness as if it was her own child. she loved spending time with the other lioness and teaching her and helping her in some ways. Even though she was tired and ready to get some sleep she was pretty happy to see the other lioness heading her way, she was very much happy to see the other lioness. She knew that she was going to enjoy the lioness's company. She was about to speak until she heard the lioness's voice. she looked up and grinned to the lioness and nodded. "Why thank you Kasi." She said simply before flicking her hair out of her eyes and then smiling brightly at her.
"It's very nice to see you, join my on my way home?" she asked curiously. She has a feeling the other lioness could tell that she was tired. she was ready for sleep but at the same time she really didn't mind taking a little extra time before getting to her den. "What have you been up to Kasi?" She asked her curiously.

Kasi beamed at her mentor. She had spent so much time with Azar and at Azar's den, it was like a second home almost, and there was no doubt that she looked up to the female. "You earned it, Azar," Kasi said earnestly, with a warm smile. Azar was a hard worker, talented, and kind-hearted underneath that strength. Exactly the kind of person that Kasi idolised, and she was not surprised that the pride had recognised her mentor by the promotion. It was a great honour, but certainly a well deserved one, in Kasi's opinion.
"How long have you been up?" Kasi asked, with some concern as she saw the tiredness in the older lioness, as she joined her mentor walking back towards the female's den.
At the questions of her movement, Kasi partially shrugged. "Training," she admitted, "and helping with the water search when I have time or energy." She occasionally went out later at night, after her training was done for the day, just to see if she could find anything, though she was not a trained seeker, so she didn't dare stay out too far after dark.

Azar looked at Kasi and couldn't help but to chuckle a little and nod at the other lioness. "thank you kasi." she said simply to her statement. She was glad that the lioness thought that she deserved the spot. Azar wasn't that sure of how she felt if she deserved it or not however she was still very proud of herself, she knew that she atleast worked very hard to get to where she was and she was happy to be there. She nodded at the lioness and chuckled a little. "I appreciate it."
At the lioness's question on the other hand Azar couldn't help but to chuckle a little. "a while that is for sure." she told her simply nodding she found it slightly amusing of how late she was up the night. She was ready for bed, that was really the best way that she could express how late she was up. "It's a job and some one has to do it." She mentioned to the lioness slightly jokingly, she knew that some time she could have stopped and she could have taken a nap but Azar wasn't the type to stop and take a nap. Azar liked to work and because of that there were very few times where she did stop and take a break. She was just happy to have a job that she loved and the chance to do it. she loved defending her pride and she would defend it for the rest of her life.
She then turned toward the lioness. "training is always helpful." She then paused before thinking about it. "I'm glad you're helping in the water search too." She commented simply before letting out a small sigh. "We need all the help we can. I hate seeing the pride like this, I've never seen it this bad. It's sad but hopefully it'll be passing really soon." she stated simply to the lioness nodding before she started to trot a little. "I'm pretty sure that in the end it'll all be okay." she mentioned to the lioness. "We have a vote coming up soon." She told the lioness before smiling at her. "Have you made a decision of what you're going to say?" She asked her curiously, wanting to know what the other lioness though, or really for that matter if the lioness had an idea in mind of what she was going to say.

Kasi smiled at her mentor, but did not continue to compliment her, as she knew Azar would probably just get uncomfortable or not believe her. She idolised the elder female, truly, but Kasi honestly believed Azar had deserved the promotion, and would have been sad to see her be unappreciated if the promotion had not been given. She kept those thoughts to herself .
She bit back the comment that Azar shouldn’t exhaust herself, because she didn’t think it was her place to fuss over the female. It was her family’s place to do so, and Kasi didn’t think that was a boundary she should overstep too much. “Someone has to do all the hard work,” Kasi said, in a similar semi-joking tone, smiling crookedly at Azar.
She felt a bit of pride that Azar approved of her actions, and bit back another smile, not wanting to seem to gushy over the whole matter, and nodded seriously at the comment of the pride. “We’ll weather through it,” Kasi said confidently, with confidence she didn’t completely feel, “the pride is strong.” It was true, but she wasn’t so sure strength was all the pride was going to need. She winced slightly at the mention of the vote, and glanced down at her paws. “ I do,” she said simply. She would vote for equality, of course, though she knew what her mother would vote, and it would not be the same. She felt…almost bad that she was voting against her mother, but was she really? “and I know it’s the answer I would want to live with, the only one I could ever suggest but…” she hesitated, feeling almost childish for revealing her fear to Azar.

Azar looked at the lioness and then flicked her tail around behind her with a laugh, she lifted up her head and looked over at the den, the direction that she was heading toward. She was happy to spend time with the lioness she enjoyed the lioness's company a lot. She was glad to have a friend like that. "Right? This pride won't work smoothly with hard working lions like us." She joked with a wink before pausing and then speaking once again. "You know, hopefully soon you'll be able to join me up in these ranks." she smiled once again at the lioness.
"Some times hard decisions must me made no matter what is coming your way.' She told the lioness she knew that it needed to be said, she knew that lioness seemed troubled and she liked to be there for the lioness when she could. "I hope you understand what I'm saying." She told the lioness with a nod. A large smile was on her face as she spoke to the lioness. "From time to time you have to go against your loved ones but some times you need to do what is the best for yourself." She told the lioness decisively.

Kasi felt a flush of pleasure at her mentor’s words. Azar was still her mentor, even though Kasi was long passed the ‘apprentice’ rank. Azar had taught her a lot, and continued to teach her even now, so she had become both her mentor, and one of her closest friends. “Maybe some day,” she said, sounding wistful. She longed to get a promotion, to show her family that she wasn’t just one of many, that she was unique, but she still felt so inexperienced, so young, though his drought was forcing everyone to grow up, she mused.
She listened to Azar and sighed lightly, staring down at her paws as she walked, feeling as if she had reverted back to being a cub. She knew what Azar meant, just as Azar had known what Kasi had meant. “I’m not going against them for what’s best for me,” she said quietly though. “I’m honestly doing what I think is best for all of us, but I know they won’t see it.” She shook her head. She felt better that Azar had told her to do what she wanted to do, but still. Could she really put up with the potential backlash for doing what she thought was best?

To a point Azar didn't just think of the lioness as some one that she taught. At this point Azar thought of her as another daughter. She loved the younger lioness and she also loved spending time with her and joking around. Of course a friend too, she was close to the other lioness and she loved the friendship that she found in the lioness.she was grateful for it.
Azar flicked her tail around behind her and she approached the front of her den. A small smile was on her face, she was glad to be home. She turned around though as the lioness spoke, she raised a brow and then talked. "Well... Some times you just need to do what you feel is right." She started to explain before then smiling at her. "And if you feel that is right it might be right." she paused again before speaking once more. "Also they're your family I think they'll always love you." She stated simply before laughing a little. "If not you always got us here." she winked at the other lioness.

Smiling slightly as they arrived at Azar’s den, a familiar sight for the female. She had spent a lot of time there as a youth, and it was always enjoyable to see it again. She glanced at Azar, and gave her a slightly crooked smile – Kasi wasn’t one for grinning, or beaming outside of a fight, but she had been smiling more and more over recent months, despite the dire circumstances.
“Thank you, Azar,” she said softly. She knew her family loved her, but she wasn’t outrageously close to any of them. She was closer to Azar, really, and so the last words made her smile grow a little more. ‘Us’. She knew it meant Azar and probably her mate, and likely Kakek as well, even though the younger pair’s relationship was hit and miss most of the time, she was pretty sure shee could count on Kakek if she really needed him.
“I should let you rest,” she said, stepping back from the den. “Congratulations again, Azar, and…thank you for your advice.”

Azar looked at the other female and give her a big smile. She couldn't help it. It made her heart warm and it made her feel good. It made her glad to know that she could know this lioness and meet her and have her in her life and to Azar that was one of the most exciting things ever to her. She flicked her tail around behind her before smiling at the lioness and nodding to her. "thank you Kasi." She paused again before chuckling a little and then turning toward the inside of the den. "Well resting is very nice." She chuckled once again grinning at her before moving her way inside and flopping down flicking her tail around. little visits like that were always nice.
