Rules:
1.) Everyone gets one post/roll per turn, and each turn ends when either everyone has posted, or 24 hours have passed with no posts.
2.) Each turn, each participant will roll a 6-sided die - the higher the roll, the better/faster your lion runs during that turn. The first person to reach a total of 24 will win.
3.) There is no post order.

Only those signed up for the race may participate!
(I'll make this nicer/do an IC intro when I have time.)

Sheshe had not been doing much socializing lately and her decision to participate in the fun and games Khara set up was mainly motivated by the desire to stop being so antisocial.. or superficially social. Of course, it would have been a lie to say she wasn't a little bit jealous of the attention her sister was getting through all of this. Taking part and making friends was the most productive way to deal with that, of course.

She started off her race strong, uncertain of how the other competitors would do and determined to try to get a bit of a lead .. at least to start.

Races were definitely not Vyoga's strong suit, even knowing it was mostly just for fun, he seemed to be struggling with the pressure. He wasn't sure if the fact he had no friends competing helped or hurt his confidence. In the time before the race began, he looked around at all of the others but he didn't say anything, choosing to stay silent.

When everything finally took off.. he hesitated a moment too long and a jump to get moving sent him stumbling. He definitely wasn't off to a very good start.

Well.. even a devout croc hunter like Mwezi had to have fun on some occasions. These games being held by the new Queen seemed to be right of the mud-armored lioness' alley too! Dancing in place, the slender adolescent gazed at all her pridemates as they stood at the starting line of the race, since she had first joined the Jini-msemi so many months ago this was the first time she'd seen so many gathered together.

Of course, it wasn't exactly as if she went looking for others to socialize with, Mwezi was far too busy for that. It was nice though, on occasion, to feel a part of something larger than her own ambitions.

Kneading the soggy earth beneath her paws that she knew so well, the young female ducked her shoulders and stuck her rear in the air, wiggling it in anticipation of the signal.

And as soon as it was called, the streak of earthy brown was off like a shot, galloping along the trail designated for the race with a surprising ease.

A race. This, Penda could do. He was willing to admit that he wasn't exactly the fastest lion out there, but he would certainly try his hardest! After all, he had a girl to impress.

The young demigod was quick to take his place at the starting line when the race was announced, crouching down and taking a few deep breaths. He didn't want to get off to a bad start, and the best way to do that was to psych himself out. He did his best to ignore the other competitors, focusing instead on the finish line. Another deep breath, and there! The call to start!

Without a second thought, Penda started off in a quick sprint, extending his claws and doing his best to dig them into the terrain with each step. He could definitely use the extra grip, even if he wasn't going to start off at full speed. It would be better to start steady and build up speed as he went - then he could last longer. It didn't really matter just how short or long the race was to him. All that mattered at this point was the finish line.

And, of course, impressing the Queen.

Koda shuffled in place nervously before the start of the race. This was the only event he would be directly competing with his mom. He looked over at her, his tail whipping around. "Good luck" Koda called out only moments before the race was to start. She didn't seem to answer back, but he was sure this was only because his mom didn't want to disrupt the beginning of the race.

Regardless of whoever was in this race, he was determined to win it. Koda was a pretty young lion, and having to take care of himself most of his life, he was fit too. His limbs shivered with anticipation before darting off to start the race.

Why was Keili doing this? To prove some kind of point?

The lioness didn't even know. Keili thought she was pretty good at running, though she wasn't sure if running away from home er... counted. She quickly gave her coat a quick shake to ease her nerves, thought she couldn't help but be a bit irked when hearing the well wishes from her son. This was her home first dammit.

Crouching she pounced forward and was neck and neck with Koda. Ugh, how annoying.

As everyone readied for the race, Bedoier stretched and shook himself, spotting his younger brother, Penda. The lion flashed his brother a smile and nod, silently wishing him good luck before turning to the 'task' at hand. At the call to start, he surged forward, glad he was among those who'd grown up in the swamps. The mud and water and trees wouldn't slow him down. He hoped. (Though he also rather hoped his brother did well...after all, he was trying to impress the Queen, while Bedoier was just doing this for fun.)

Talla hadn't been very involved in the pride since the embarrassed of having bred with the murderer....but now with how things were going she felt there was no need, and of course Kairu had assured her that there was no reason to be staying away no one blamed her.

She stood in the group ready for the start and took off at the moment it started, Tala wasn't sure how well she was going to do but she giggled and had a great time along the way.

Drury] had decided that he had definitely come back from his pilgrimage at the right time, he came home in time for the festivities. He was a happy to be home and even happier that he had a mate, it had been a successful voyage if he must say so myself. He stood in the group ready to go energy pouring from him... he was still a young lion he felt he had a fairly good shot at doing well... as long as he didn't trip.

Kamili had been training for this race. Well... maybe not as hard as he should have, feeling that he was already perfect to begin with, but he did make an effort. That was more than he typically did. As the contestants lined up, he tensed, ready to spring when told.

Once the signal had been given, Kamili ignored all other distractions - other lions around him, the noise, and anything but the ground under his paws. He didn't just want to win... he wanted to show everyone here what he could do!

At the start of the event, Zambarau'Anga stood tall, proud, with a slow breath that concealed his already racing start. There was a confidence in his eyes, built from the familiar feeling of racing through the lands. While it would be a lie to say that 'Barau wasn't in this to win(a modest lion at heart, he would never say this aloud), he'd like to think that there was deeper purpose in this race. It had not been long since he came upon these lands; he simply wanted to know where he stood among the others. His now pridemates.

At the start, after taking in one last breath, the brown lion tensed and bolted forward.

By the time everyone had started the race, Penda had found himself situated squarely in the middle of the pack. He could spot three or four lions ahead of him, but he wasn't about to let it worry him. He had plenty of time to catch up with the leaders of the race, provided they didn't tire themselves out and fall behind him. It was with this thought in mind that he continued his steady pace, continuing to sprint towards the finish line. His goal was right there, and he wasn't about to let anything distract him from it! He had a race to win!

Sheshe's determination to keep a lead died down a bit as she got into the race. She knew her way around well enough- very well, she liked to think- but she had never really had to rush through it. Not like this anyway- it was very distracting that there were so many others around, too. She wasn't the only one off to a good start. Between overthinking it and a small stumble through an unexpectedly slippery path, she slowed down.
