Rules:1.) Everyone gets one post/roll per turn, and each turn ends when either everyone has posted, or 24 hours have passed with no posts. 2.) Each turn, each participant will roll a 6-sided die - the higher the roll, the better/faster your lion runs during that turn. The first person to reach a total of 24 will win. 3.) There is no post order. Only those signed up for the race may participate! (I'll make this nicer/do an IC intro when I have time.) Competitors Coatl, Das Tor Kikope, KasaiLoki Kati, YourxStarlessxEyes Elvis, Princess_Feylin Riddi, C.C.G.

The youth stomped his paws proudly into the dirt. Bowing his torso to the ground as his tail whipped around behind him. Riddi was super excited! This was a race! How exciting~. Having signed up for the event, the little male had begun practicing. Going through an intense training regiment... well, as intense as a cub could muster.
Before the race began, the little one made sure to check that his fur wasn't tussled and was glossy in a pristine condition. Just cause he was in an event didn't mean he had to get messy!
Lining up at the starting area, Riddi glanced side by side to his competitors. Smiling broadly, the male tore forward as soon as the signal for the race to begin was made.

There were a lot of things Elvis wanted to do in terms of competing for the queen. He had been told in no uncertain terms that he was too young to participate in any of the wrestling events, but he supposed that would be all right. He was barely going to have time for the two events he was allowed to participate in. Of course, he planned to win both of them, but he secretly expected to do better in the race than he would in the frog catching.
He came across as very self-confident about catching frogs, but he didn't have a lot of experience with it. On the other hand, racing was just about speed. At least that was the largest part of it. And not getting bogged down anywhere or stuck or trapped, but he didn't think the course that had been set up for him and the other cubs had too many hazards like that to contend with, and so he wouldn't have to worry about that.
He looked down the line of other cubs participating in the race, watching as they struck silly poses and fussed with their fur before the race began. He was all over twitching with excitement and enthusiasm, but he made himself keep as still as he could until he heard the Word. Then, as soon as the signal was given, he leaped forward, trying to cover as much ground with that first bound as he could before settling into his fastest gait.

First frogs...now racing. Could the day get any better? Coatl certainly didn't think so. Not unless Her best friends returned from their name quests to watch her win! Because she was determined to win, and show the Queen even those who were a little behind in growing up all the way were quick and clever! She just hoped she remembered all the tricks to get around the hard parts of the swamp.

The smaller cub tried to keep pace with his competitors. Finding them both only ahead of him by a fraction. Straining his limbs to propel him through the brush faster, Riddi squinted his eyes as he grit his teeth. He really, really wanted to win after all. Who goes to a race to win anything other than first place? Plus... the view he had of the other's backends wasn't the most pleasant one. Blugh...

Elvis was delighted that his initial leap had put him in front of his competitors, but he wasn't about to let up now. Unfortunately he didn't have his paws placed quite as well as he could have and he lost some time sliding in the omnipresent mud. Oh, he was accustomed to mud, but now that he was trying so very hard to be so very fast, it only made sense that he would slip a little. He could only keep track of so many body parts at a time. He would just have to hope that his first surge forward would serve to keep him in a good position in the race.

Try as he might, the cub felt as though he couldn't quite close that smaaaall gap between himself and the others in the race. It was still pretty early in the run, and Riddi was proud to atleast catch up with the larger female for a short while. But there was still one that was further ahead. The cub was the same age as Riddi! Masculine pride kept the boy barreling forward. Setting his sights on the other cub, the boy's dainty paws lifted further as he stretched his legs far with each and every stride!
With each of his bounds, the tuft of fur on his head remained springy and flowed through the wind as he ran.

Kati cursed her siblings in her head again as she began the race. They'd been distracting her and she hadn't gotten to the starting line before the race began. The lions running the event said that she could still try, though, since she had signed up. Kati was determined to at least show the queen how strong a will she had, if not win. The other cubs were up ahead, but if she ran as fast as she could, maybe she could win. With a small cub roar, the young lioness leapt into the race to try and catch up.

Riddi folded his ears back as he stared at the bobbing flank infront of him. Somewhere behind the cub, he could hear oncoming paws. Maybe someone started the race late? Riddi couldn't be bothered to look back and check. Concentrating on propelling himself further. Up until now the little cub has clumsily been snagging his paws on the roots and other such things littered in the way. Bounding swiftly, the male inhaled a BIG gulp of air and sprang forward! He wanted to catch up... catch up and WIN.

((Ookay, somehow this got wonky. XD You're meant to wait until all participants have posted, or 24 hours have passed with no posts.
Keeping that in mind, the first 'turn' consisted of: Riddi (3), Elvis (5), Coatl (4) Second turn: Elvis (2), Riddi (1), Kati (2) The second turn then would have ended at 2:08 Monday, meaning the third turn begins NOW and the two posts above this one are thrown out.))

((Oops, sorry about all that. I just saw someone post, so I assumed it was the new turn. Okay, re-roll!))
Kati's energy only got her so far. The mud was slippery and full of paw indents from the earlier start of the others. The cub had to be careful, otherwise she'd trip, fall, and waste even more time than she already had. So she made headway, but not as much as she'd have liked.
Once she cleared the beginning patch the cub picked up speed. The white girl who looked a bit older than her was coming closer and closer to Kati. Her heart began hammering as she passed the girl. Now she could see the other two cubs, one who she was coming up on fast and another one a few steps in front of him. With a devilish grin, Kati beat the ground harder, coming up right behind the brown male cub, then managed to even pass him, coming up neck and neck with the white cub in the lead. Kati was overjoyed-she had a chance after all.

Sorry Meep. Somehow my brain turned that into "once every twenty four hours."
Elvis had already decided before the race began that the best way to keep himself motivated, even if he happened to slip or fall behind, would be to tell himself a story about why he was really running. Races were well and good, but he would have far better motivation knowing that there was an angry hippopotamus and a swarm of crocodiles coming after him.
That gave him enough energy for another burst of speed. He didn't even spare a glance over his shoulder for the other competitors in the race. Seeing them would only destroy the illusion he was trying to cultivate in his mind of being pursued by dangerous creatures, and thus could only give him reason to slow down.
He couldn't help but notice that he was doing well though, and he was hard-pressed not to burst into celebratory song. He had to remind himself sternly that celebrations were for winners only, and he had not won yet.
