Rules:
1.) Periodically, over the next week or so, I will post a frog/roll a 20-sided die, at which point participants may make one post (per SoA), also rolling a 20-sided die, to attempt to catch it. The first to match my number, or to come closest without going over, catches the frog. The SoA with the most frogs at the end of the week wins.
2.) There is no set time between frogs - if you miss one, sorry!
3.) There is no post order.

Only those who have signed up to participate may do so.
(I'll make this nicer/do an IC intro when I have time.)

CONSIDER THIS POST THE FIRST FROG
(I will doodle one up tomorrow. Both divisions won't always get frogs at the same time, but we need to start off somehow. xP)

Koda had no idea what a frog was, just arriving in the swamp after all. He asked his Mom who happily opted out of this particular activity to give him a discription of what they looked like. Her answer had been kind of vague; they were green, ugly, and... bounced?

They sounded pretty terrifying actually.

Suddenly Koda heard a strange sound out of his left ear. It seemed to catch everyone elses interest as well; could that have come from a frog? Koda wasn't sure. As he ran towards the sound, he realized he could end up looking like an idiot if he was wrong. However, he just couldn't pass up the chance to potentially to catch the first frog, and the Queen's eye!

Kamili was ready! For months he’d practiced pouncing in the swamps to improve his skill, and although most of the time the things he caught were… more stationary than frogs (like logs), he thought he could bring a pretty decent game now. The last thing he had wanted to be was unprepared.

Kamili was a little more serious about the games than the other lions of his pride might be. For him, it was a matter of showing everyone that he was truly superior. The prize of being the Queen’s favorite didn’t hurt either though.

As his competitors leaped about, trying to get their paws on the slippery little amphibians, Kamili saw his chance to make a grab for it. He crouched and leaped…

Excited, was not the word, ecstatic maybe, over the moon, probably, what ever the feeling, it was certainly joyous. Hunting frogs was fun, the slippery little blighters could jump so far without any thought, they leapt from your reach and escaped faster than you could think, but it was so much fun!

Helianthus leapt forwards with the other adults, her bangs falling in her eyes, the smile on her maw spread wide. She glimpsed one of the juicy little suckers and dove after it her tail high in the air a giggle on her lips.

This was going to be fun.

Vyoga was happy to be home and to fall back into his old patterns.. but only one of his old friends, Chasasa, had returned by the time he got back. It had been a surprise to both of them when he entered the competitions- not just for fun, but for the Queen. He wanted to follow Chasasa around and chase after frogs like they had when they were smaller but he had to move forward on his own. So he was ahead of his friend, looking around the swampy water for the target.

His main goal now, outside of catching frogs, was to stay calm and not over think what he was doing. He could see much of his competition and he could tell when he was being watched- Chasasa wasn't yet on the move. And then, very suddenly, everybody was scrambling and it was time he made a move. With a stumble and an unlucky slide, he missed the frog but was far from discouraged.

Throughout his name quest, Chasasa had remained pretty well the same, laid back and agreeable lion he'd always been. It had come as a surprise to find he was the first to return and then again that Vyoga was the next to come back. He'd entered the games purely to entertainment.. until Vyoga made it clear he was trying to impress the queen.

At least, it was making starting out slightly more awkward. He had followed his friend to where the frogs were most likely to be found and .. hesitated. His reaction to the appearance of frogs was far more delayed than the rest as he tried to see what was going on everywhere at once—and then an opportunity presented itself and he leapt.

Catching frogs.
Seems easy enough, right?

Certainly couldn't be any more difficult than catching crocodiles. They were a lot smaller, far less dangerous and elusive than the river dwellers. At least that was what Mwezi told herself as the first frog was released and yet, she felt very little confidence in her abilities to tackle the slippery amphibian upon first glance of how quickly it bounced around the swamp.

Agile. Like a freaking jungle cat in it's terrain. How was it possible that something that goofy looking could be so nimble on those huge, flopping feet?

As the green terror approached her, Mwezi practically panicked. Scrambling to ready herself to try and pounce the wild creature only to slip severely. Sliding on her forepaws her slinky body sprawled across the floor and the frog planted itself right on her face before springing away. What a wise guy.

With the laughter and joy of those around her, Helianthus dove and leapt through the thick mud diving after each of the fresh, yummy frogs. She laughed and smiled at those around her, happy to see everyone so happy in their pursuit.

She chased after the frogs with the rest of them, listening for their happy croaking as her coat became caked in the clean mud of the swamps.

Still reeling from the indignity suffered from the last frog that had stepped on her face, Mwezi gave her muzzle a shake and attempted to right herself. Gathering herself with all four paws placed correctly beneath her, she noticed that a stranger near by had already caught one. A jealous, side-long glance examining the lion she didn't recognize--as with so many others.

How had he managed to catch it so quick? Maybe there was a trick to this frog-catching thing? A secret technique passed down between those born on these lands, never to be spoken of to outsiders. The more Mwezi thought about it, the more it sounded like a paranoid conspiracy. Really, that was the last thing she needed given her already anti-social behavior. Shaking away the thought a flicker of green drew Mwezi's attention back to the task at hand.

Right. Frogs!

She was going to catch this one! Sitting there, so innocently. Wide open and just waiting for her to grab it! Yet some how.. as she scrambled to snag it before anyone else had noticed it, the darn thing cheekily crawled--not hopped but actually crawled--out of the way.

Instead of catching a frog, Mwezi bowled over several of her frog-catching peers!

Penda wasn't quite sure just why he was participating in these games. They were an easy way to get absolutely filthy, and it would probably take him all night to completely wash out his coat! But when he looked at the Queen, he just couldn't help himself. She was absolutely radiant, and no matter how hard he tried he just couldn't deny that he was smitten with her. He knew there were others vying for her attention - it was the main reason he'd even considered participating in these games despite his aversion to getting dirty.

But now really wasn't the time to ponder on all of this. Now was the time to catch frogs. He really didn't see the point in it, but he was certainly going to try his hardest! He'd completely missed the first frog to be spotted, but now he had his eyes on another one. All he had to do was pounce!

It was for this reason that he crouched down in the mud, making a face as his toes squished in it and some got on his chin. Oh for Mkodi's sake, he was going to have to take two baths after this. Maybe even three. His momentary hesitation was all the frog really needed to get out of his range, and when he finally did try to pounce on it, he only wound up with a face full of mud.

Okay, yeah. Three baths.

YES!! Kamili had never felt to happy to have a wet, slippery frog in his paws. The frog had been quick, and so had his rivals, but he had been quicker. But then who could ever have doubted his greatness? If anyone was going to win this contest, Kamili felt confident it would be himself!

A tiny spot of green caught his attention again. Another frog! So, it was time to show off his skills again! With one frog safely captured, Kamili was feeling pretty cocky right about now… well, slightly cockier than usual, anyway. Kamili always had a healthy dose of arrogance at all times.

Charging after the new amphibian, he crouched, tensed, and sprang…

Koda ran at a brisk pace, nobody was even close to him! Yes!! HE WOULD GET THE FROG. Or at least that's what he thought before his back paws suddenly slipped from under him due to the slippery conditions. The black and pink lion found himself slidding right into a huge mud pile, nowhere near where the frog was. As he emerged, Koda was nearly coated with the mud. Could it be an advantage? More like the other way around. It was thick and made it hard to move. but he wasn't about to give up.

Suddenly the crowd of lions began to bombard another frog. Koda carefully made his way over this time, that slick mud would not get the best of him again, though he was slowed down by his muddy coat regardless.
