Husni was… exhausted. The young cub looked over his shoulder with wary eyes to make sure no one was following him out of the den. He just needed a little bit of time on his own, that’s all. When he wasn’t having lessons, he was in training. When he wasn’t training, he was with his siblings. The cub just wanted a few moments to think and make a decision for himself.
One paw froze in the air as he reached his limit. Looking back, he decided that he had walked far enough – or at least, as far as he dared to go. He was out of sight but close enough to the den should his mother find him missing and call out to him. He leaned back slowly to sit, looking up at the clouds in the sky with curious eyes, his tail dancing playfully behind him.

A'asifia Ramliya was in a mood. But it wasn't a bad mood. It was a very, very good mood. He had woken up that morning with the feeling that he could conquer the world if he set out to do it. He didn't want to conquer the world today, but he wouldn't have minded a good game of adventuring.
He'd be leaving on his quest for banu soon enough, and he had almost no experience with hunting or stalking or fighting or, well anything it seemed. Well, he fought his brothers all the time, but that was different. Even knowing that to be the case, Ram couldn't bring himself to train or apply himself to the problem. It just seemed like so much work, and not much fun. He'd rather play adventuring.
Ram could play on his own, of course, but it would be much more fun if he could find someone else to play with. Someone like...that cub would work! His blue eyes had just noticed a brightly colored cub watching the sky, which seemed like a silly and kind of boring way to pass time. Doubtless this other cub would be happy to see Ram and have him introduce a more interesting activity.
"Good morning. I'm Pesar A'asifa Ramliya and we're going to go on an adventure now," he said as he drew closer. "I'm older, so I should be in charge."

Husni looked at the older cub with a confused expression, most likely trying to figure out if he was being made fun of. He felt as though he should know who this yellow pesar was but he was having trouble memorizing the long name alone. His father would probably be able to remember the pesar’s name with ease and know which harem he belonged to. Husni, however, still hadn’t made many acquaintances outside his of family so he couldn’t possibly identify someone’s ancestry just by looking at his markings.
“I’m Pesar Husni. My father is Pad Akram’raja.” The bright-eyed cub replied with a small frown. Learning how to introduce himself was one of the first things he’d been taught. Not disappearing without permission was another one. “I can’t just go. I don’t have permission.”

"Oh, you're one of those cubs," Ram said, a little disappointed when he recognized the name of Husni's father. Pad Akram'raja was one of Vizier Tariq'ra'd's sons, and according to Ram's father the vizier was really scary and evil. But! He hadn't actually been forbidden to play with cubs who were descended from the vizier. He had just been warned to stay away from the vizier himself.
"Don't be silly. I'm the grandson of Vizier Faiz, and I'm related to the sultan. Your parents won't mind if you come on an adventure with me."
Okay, so they would probably mind a lot, and Ram knew it, but at the same time he hadn't seen anyone else to play with and he wanted to play now. If it meant that his playmate got in trouble for it...he didn't really care, to be honest. Ram was young and thoughtless and convinced of his innate superiority, both because of his lineage and because he knew he was just the best. Didn't he win all the wrestling matches and races against his brothers? Wasn't he always the first one to answer questions, and weren't his answers always the best?
"You can call me Ram. It's what my family calls me." He meant to imply that he was doing Husni a huge favor by allowing him to call him by his family name. Sort of like dangling a bit of bait before him. Ram's idea of what was good bait could probably use some work.

“What do you mean ‘those cubs’?” Husni asked with a frown, apparently not very happy with the older lion’s tone. “And I'm the grandson of Vizier Tariq’ra’d! It doesn’t matter.” The little cub said stubbornly, looking rather suspicious. He couldn’t really understand why being with someone who was related to the Sultan would keep him off trouble when it came to his dad. Especially considering how most of his family felt about Vizier Faiz… a weaker Pad who had achieved his position simply because he was related to the Sultan. Unless Ram was purposefully trying to get him in trouble.
“My father would mind! I can’t break the rules and I have to go back soon. I still have lessons.” He wasn’t impressed with the yellow Pesar mostly because of how easily he seemed to disregard the rules Husni was bound to. “That’s a weird name.” Not very polite and proper, no. But something about Ram really annoyed the younger lion. Perhaps the abundant freedom he seemed to possess had something to do with it.

"It does too matter!" Ram argued. "It matters a whole lot 'cause it means we're related to important people and so we're allowed to do more. Don't you know anything?"
At least that was how Ram had found things generally worked for him. One day he intended to be recognized for his own merits, but until he was old enough to do big, important things, Ram was content to let his ancestors' importance carry him. He liked being related to the sultan, too, because he knew that made him more important than the cubs who were only related to Tariq'ra'd, and not the sultan, even though he had been told it wasn't polite to point that sort of thing out.
"Ram's just a nickname, dummy. Something that friends and family call a person. My full name means 'sandstorm,' and Ram's taken from the part that means 'sand,' because of my color." Geez. Maybe Ram didn't want Husni to be calling him by his nickname after all. The kid seemed like a real doofus. If there was anyone else around, Ram would have given up and walked away by now, but unfortunately there didn't seem to be anyone else to amuse him.
"I meant that you were one of those goody-goodies who always does exactly what he's told because he's too afraid to do anything else." Which wasn't at all what he'd meant, but there was no reason he couldn't also have meant that. It was more or less what he meant now, and would have been what he meant if he'd known what a wuss Husni was.

“It’s still stupid.” It was official. Husni really didn’t like this Pesar. Who did he think he was? Just because he was a little older, he had the nerve to call Husni a coward? For doing what his father told him? Clearly Ram’s father was nothing like Akram’raja. Clearly! Then again, Husni had heard that Faiz was stupidly soft on his banu so it made sense he treated his cubs the same way. Apparently his sons – and his grandsons - were just as soft. And Husni did not want to use the stupid nickname he had been given but he wouldn’t bother to ask for the Pesar’s full name lest Ram believe he actually cared enough to want it. He didn’t want to associate himself with people who tried to get him into trouble and called him stupid.
“Unlike some Pads, my father knows how to teach disciple and responsibility. He doesn’t want his sons to grow up useless and disrespectful.” Which Ram clearly was, Husni decided. While he didn’t say directly, his bright eyes never left the yellow Pesar. The starry cub didn’t even want to address the whole “importance” issue. As if this stupid sunny Pesar was important or in any way superior to Akram’raja’s sons. Pfff! His attitude was totally wrong, even the soft Vizier would probably be ashamed of him. He should! Oh, there were so many things that he wanted to call the Pesar but direct rudeness was a big no-no and Husni had not yet mastered the art of subtle insults so he had to hold his tongue. Still, the hairs on his neck and back standing on end, betraying the cub’s true feelings: he was not very comfortable with this whole situation.
((I think this is going to be a short rp. They really don’t like each other. XD))

"Fine, then use my full name. That's more appropriate anyway, since you're younger than I am and we're not friends." Ram was proud of his name, and thought it was loads better than Husni, which sounded like someone sneezing.
It wasn't very mature of him to call attention to Husni's malapropism, perhaps, but he was young and he was becoming irritated. "And your father doesn't seem to care too much about his sons growing up ignorant. It's discipline, not disciple."
It went without saying that the offer to go adventuring had been rescinded. Ram certainly didn't want to go on an adventure with a baby like Husni who hid his wussy nature behind words like responsibility and respect. Ram knew what those things were, and he could be both responsible and respectful, but there was no reason to be like that all the time, and Ram would never turn down a chance for adventures. Unless it meant waking up early. He didn't like doing that.
"Out of curiosity, how do you intend to grow up to be useful? Will you not have cubs? I think that would be very useful of you." Ram's eyes narrowed. He would've preferred to solve this by giving Husni a solid thumping, but that would've gotten him into lots of trouble. He'd still get in trouble for what he was doing, maybe, but less than if he actually got into a physical fight.

Husni would love to use the older pesar’s full name but the truth was that he had already forgotten half of it. And he nearly winced as his little mistake was mentioned. It was impossible to pretend he’d made it on purpose so he chose to ignore that remark altogether. He decided to do the same about the “younger” comment but he agreed – and very much so – that the two young lions were definitely not friends so he didn’t really care about how the yellow pesar seemed to think his age gave him any standing.
“How you become useful? Isn’t that one of the first things you learn?” though Husni looked annoyed, he also appeared to be genuinely surprised. “You train to become stronger so you can guard the pride. You learn about the rules so you can teach them to others. You carry on duties that your family asks of you like escorting your sisters and stuff like that. And when you are old enough, you bring worthy banu into the pride and raise strong sons and daughters. I don’t understand your question.” It was all pretty basic stuff, after all. His father had told his sons about what was expected of them pretty early in his life. Was the stupid pesar testing him? Even he knew this, husni was sure.

Ram sighed as Husni launched into a very boring recitation of all the responsibilities which would be his as he got older. Oh, there were some he would be spared, like escorting his sisters since he hadn't any of those, but by and large these were all things he'd heard before. The sigh wasn't because of that though. The sigh was because his zinger, which he'd thought very clever, went right over the younger pesar's head. Well, when he got home he could tell R'ad about it and they could laugh over it together.
"I'm not surprised," was all Ram had to say to Husni. Anything else would probably go over the idiot's head anyway.
There was really nothing else he could think of to say here. Playing was out of the question, and talking clearly wasn't going to get him anywhere. He looked around in hopes of seeing a distraction, some reason for him to get out of this unpleasant situation. He would have to remember to warn R'ad about this stupid cub though. There was no sense in all his family meeting up with these morons and being insulted.
"Anyway, I'm going to go on an adventure now. Enjoy staying by your den and being boring. I mean good." He smiled insincerely and began to swagger away, proud of himself for handling the situation as well as he possibly could have done.

“Have fun.” Husni said with the same enthusiasm as one would usually say “Drop dead”. He was planning on telling his father and brothers all about this stupid Faiz descendent. He better warn his sisters as well… he wouldn’t want the two of them ever showing any interest in the yellow pesar. Not that his father would ever give them away to anyone like Ramliya, pfff!
He didn’t even bother the fake a smile back the older lion who had added “boring” to his previous insults and Husni’s nose wrinkled as he barely held a snarl back. Rude and useless, that’s what he was! The cub watched him go with narrowed eyes and waited for a few moments he turned and walked back to the den. Unlike Ramliya, he didn’t have time to frolic around. - The End -
