Click the banner to find out all about it!Hello, Hello and welcome to this SoA contest provided to you by the Bonelands Pride (aka Ithambo'hlabathi), the amazing Kaelyndra and myself! Just below you will have the opportunity to enter for two cubs, but first a little history...
It seems this once sedate, little pride has fallen on some hard times. Forced to make many difficult decisions under the strain of illness and the threat of drought and starvation the pride as a whole moved to a new area in hopes that conditions would improve, despite the protests of a few.
In this new territory they have tried to start again and things have seemed to improve considerably. The lionesses have been permitted to search the rogue lands for males to breed with to bring new life and two new Umama have risen to create new social groups. The color of a lion's pelt is no longer seen as the dominant factor in deciding superiority over one another and the pride continues to shift in a new direction. It's uncertain just what these changes will mean for the pride's future, but the outlook is hopeful.
Unfortunately, unrest is still afoot as the pride struggles to return to a life of normalcy. Rogue lions which had been encroaching on the borders have infiltrated the pride. One, the son of the Umholi Matifu, known as Gakere has continued to increase the pressure upon his father. It was inevitable that the pair would eventually come to blows and though he fought unrelentingly time was not on Matifu's side. The sun has set on this Umholi's reign in the Bonelands and now shines on Gakere was he rises to power. Whether or not he will prove beneficial to the pride is a question that remains yet to be answered...

Rules
Everybody's got them...
♦ There is a lot going on in the pride right now, read up on the Meta. It will affect these cubs as they've been born pretty much in the thick of things!
♦ Should go without saying, but follow all SoA shop rules and TOS.
♦ Please act appropriately. No discouraging people from entering or that sort of thing.
♦ You may enter for both cubs, but may only win one.
♦ Everyone is welcome to enter.

The FamilyReady to meet everyone? Too bad...
Njalo'sasa; Mother; Okay, so she's not the brightest lioness in the bunch to be stuck with for a mother, but what Njalo lacks in common sense and attention span she makes up for in loyalty and affection. Despite her short comings she tries really hard to be a good mom to you guys and simple though she may be there is no question to how much she loves you. Everyone knows that Njalo would put her life on the line for the well being of her pride, friends and family. So hopefully, you guys know it too.
Laini'hatua (Soft Step); First Born; Kinda shy but always willing to look on the bright side of things, a little air-headed like mom and generally optimistic. Since he didn't know his dad much at all he takes after mom quite a lot. Though whether this is a good thing or bad one for a male remains to be seen.
Banana Pudding; Second Born; Male contest cub. Could be yooooouurrrrs!
Reverse Njalo; Third Born; Female contest cub. Could be yooooouurrrrs!
Machozi (Tears); Fourth Born; Machozi is an emotional little boy. In fact, he's often so full of emotion that he doesn't know how to handle it. As a result this little cub tends to be a bit of a crybaby! He cries when he's mad. When he's sad. When he's confused. Sometimes even when he's happy! He tends to be a little overwhelmed by his feelings, but you'll regret it if you mistake him for a sissy!
Matifa (Spin of Matifu's Name); Fifth Born; Matifa loves life, and is a hard cub to get down. She loves her entire family, and that seems to include the entire pride. She's always looking for a good (or bad!) joke, and has been known to pull benign pranks and is almost always willing to play.
Orabela (Golden Beautiful); Sixth Born; Orabella is a little spitfire with wit to match the best and no reserve. Blessed with a dry, usually sarcastic sense of humor, she has no qualms about giving anybody a verbal beating if warranted. She's quick to think on her feet, and prone to making decisions on the fly that may or may not bode well for herself, but sticks to a policy of "roll with it first, deal with the consequences later". She will not be brought down by others' judgment, and her own pushes her to be the best that she can be.(Shortened for the sake of sanity. XD)

The ContestYou know.. what you're really here for. Keep in mind the naming traditions of the pride when naming your cub. Also, though most males leave the pride when their manes grow in there are more options to consider now. Please take a look in the Bonelands subform to check them out if you haven't yet.
Prompt 1 Your mother, Njalo'sasa, is a loving mother but she's also terribly gullible and new to having cubs. Sometimes she's easily distracted or forgets that she's supposed to be watching you. What do you think about this? How do you react to it? Do you take advantage of her simple minded personality or do you help her to look after you? Maybe you simply don't do anything at all. In this prompt show an example of how the cub handles mom's occasional cub-care faux pas. You are welcome to use Njalo, Machozi and/or Matifa in this prompt if you choose.
Prompt 2 For the most part the lionesses who are familiar with your mother are very kind to you, but there are others in the pride look at you with a strange expression. They're not as nice as everyone else and sometimes call you a Lusizi, you're not sure what that is, but it sounds like a bad word! How do you handle these pride members? Do you take what they say to heart? Do you tell anyone about the mean things they say to you? You are welcome to use NPCs, Njalo, Machozi and/or Matifa in this prompt if you choose.
Prompt 3 You don't remember much about your father, you only met him once, yet while playing out on your own one day you stumble across a fallen body that may look somewhat familiar to you. It's the body of your deceased father Matifu. How do you react to seeing this once proud male now laying in a heap upon the ground, wasting away? Do you feel sorrow or anger for the loss of your father? Do you even recognize him? The Bonelands is a harsh place, up until now you've been well sheltered but times may not always be so kind. How does your young mind process this fact? Do you realize the gravity of your father's death? Or is his body just another playground? *Note: If you choose to use this prompt, please keep in mind that Matifu tended not to be particularly fond of male cubs.
Prompt 4 If you have a different idea, feel free to use this prompt. NPCs, Njalo, Machozi and/or Matifa are available for you to use if you'd like to include them. I ask that you please not change the format of the form.

OH. Should mention that Matifu was NOT nice to his male cubs, for anyone doing the male 'found daddy' prompt, that might bring up a memory of their first meeting with him, so they know it wasn't sunshine and roses.
Ffft, I think he even tried to convince Gakere's mom to abandon him in the bonelands somewhere, or something like that, when he was a little cub.

-Finally done with housework- I agree. I'd love for Simo and/or Njalo to meet Gakere. He interests me. > u>
And yea.. I had considered it, but I'll definitely add it in now. People should DEFINITELY look up Njalo and Matifu rps, even if you only skim them.. I really can't emphasis enough how much it will help people in getting a feel for this family and the way the bonelands works--for those who aren't familiar with it.
