She was nervous. She'd never been in a duel before, but she knew she had to. She remembered the conversation her mother had had with the higher ranking lions, about a cub joining. She'd be allowed to stay, but she had to duel for her place when she was old enough. Now she was, and she was glad she'd been given this chance, though she still didn't understand why she had to duel. Would her baby brothers and sisters? Her mother had told her no, and cut short on the subject. Whatever Savitri hid, she wasn't about to divulge it.
Now, as the sun rose, Rashmi practically pranced into the dueling space. In the distance behind her, sitting off to the side to watch, Savitri kept an eye on this lioness she'd raised as her own daughter. Rashmi swallowed, closing her eyes. "I can do this... I can do this... I WILL do this!"

Aithne was grumpy to know that she was going to have to go out and duel a rogue. Then again Aithne was always grumpy. Well from what she understood, the lioness wasn't a rogue but she had to have a duel anyway. Her father was explaining it to her but Aithne just shrugged it off. She really just wanted to get it out of the way. She had other things that she wanted to do during the day. She could be doing something else, spending her time some where else and doing something different. She trotted a little slowly, she wasn't really excited for this duel. She had been trained to duel and to protect the pride but she didn't see why she had to duel this lioness who was apparently already in the pride.
She knew that she was going to do it anyway, if she gave it to some one else her father would find out and she would be in trouble. She huffed as she approached the area that she was supposed to be. She paused as she listened to the lioness a small laugh escaped her lips and a smirk grew on her face. "Are you ready?" She asked the lioness in a grumpy tone.

The white lioness nodded, her ears back. She hopped from paw to paw to paw to paw, then practically pranced around the space. She ran over every strategy Savitri had gone over with her, and every counter to each move. As her aunt Shula had put it, it was like a dance - If it wasn't pre-planned, then each partner drew on what they knew and responded accordingly.
Her mind made up, Rashmi lunged, feeling her claws brush the other lioness when she got close enough.

Aithne growled as she felt claws hit her, she wasn't very happy at all at the fact that the other lioness got a hit on her so soon. She snarled a little, the anger building up on her. Aithne was easily angered and this made her even more angry. She could feel a little pain and she didn't want to be injured right away this was frustrating. She moved closer to the lioness snarling as she did her opening her mouth and moving closer to the lioness and clamping down on to the lioness's nearest body part.

In an instant, the whole duel seemed to change. Biting had NOT been expected! Rashmi let out a pained and startled roar, before twisting and raking her claws across the other lioness' face, doing her best to dislodge the teeth from her back. Her mind flashed to the vultures, spotted now and then around the desert, and she worried suddenly that she would become food for them. She couldn't let that happen!

The grumpy lioness really never played fair so it wasn't really something out of place for her to bite down on the other lioness, however Aithne was very surprised as she felt the claws of the other on her face. She snarled as she let go and pulled away as quickly as she could her eyes were closed however they didn't hurt that much, her nose did on the other hand, she knew that itw as goign to leave a pretty mark behind after ward. She snarled as she looked at the lioness before she launched herself forward this time aiming her claws at the other lioness's face. She wasn't going to be the only one that walked out of the fight with claw marks on her face.

Pain blossomed across her face, causing Rashmi to reel back. She shook her head, rubbing a paw on her face. It only served to smear the blood, and when she looked at her paw, she saw it covered. The white lioness seemed to stop for a moment, as time itself stopped, before her lip curled back and she roared, attacking Aithne. She was NOT going to take that lightly!

Aithne watched as the lioness came closer to her. She snarled as the lioness did, she let out her own roar, moving forward as quickly as she possibly could and snarled loudly as she felt the lioness's paw's hit her. she was getting more and more angry, she didn't want to wait she snarled and then launched herself forward and reached out her paws, leaning back on her back legs swiping her paws a few times at the lioness before hitting her paws and hissing as she did. She made an effort to make as much noise as she could when she came down on the female.

Further pain blossomed across Rashmi, as she jumped away from her opponent. She paced a bit, just trying to recover her senses as she dodged away from Aithne, trying to keep out of reach and avoid further injury. Her sides heaved, while blood oozed from her wounds, staining her white coat in red. Something of an irony to her. She remembered her grandfather mentioning how the Firekin had once referred to themselves as The Blood, due in part to their blood red coats, and the history of the pride of old. She now found this ironic, as her coat took on the color of blood. Ears back, she paced a circle around Aithne.

With the lioness's last hit her rage started to calm. She panted a little as she too paced, however not around the other lioness she paced back and forth a little before turning toward the white lioness. She was almost proud of herself the blood that she split. Aithne was raised by kind lions, the regents, her parents were not as firey as Aithne was. Aithne on the other hand was very full of life and had an extremely short temper, she liked fighting however to Aithne there was no such thing as a not serious fight to Aithne. And added to the fact that she wasn't really in the mood to fight the rogue in the first place she wasn't taking it easy on the lioness. She was glad however the lioness was an interesting match for Aithne. She fought back well and she could feel some blood on her own coat. On the other hand it wasn't as visible as the other lioness's. She snarled again and swiped a paw at the lioness to try to get the lioness to attack her again.

Rashmi's lips curled back as she let out a growling hiss, fur bristling. Muscles bunched, she herself gave a large swat, before roaring. She began pacing again, eyes never leaving Aithne, ears moving between pointing forward and pointing back. The blood on her coat was starting to harden, going from bright red to almost black. She suddenly shifted, jumping at Aithne, paws and claws out as she let out a roar, intent on tackling. At the least, she felt her paws connect.

Really if anything Athine was getting extremely bored really quickly. She didn't want to be dueling in the first place and with the way it was going she could be here all day fighting the other female, and well Aithne was getting tired of it. She wanted to do something else and she thought that it was about time that she got up and went to do something else. She was really bored anyway She wasn't just going to wander away though, she was too cool for that. She growled and then swiped a paw into the lioness's face. After that she walked away while shaking her head. "You win." She huffed rolling her eyes. She wanted to go get cleaned up and then find something else to do for a while. She needed to do something other than sit here.
