The basic roleplaying rules apply here:
1. No godmodding. A single human stands little, if any, chance of bringing down a dragon on his or her own in most circumstances. On the other side of the coin, a dragon cannot obliterate an entire army by itself without extremely favorable situations (i.e. a thunderstorm where the army is facing threats from the environment as well)
2. The events of both sides of the RP happen at the same time. Current events will be updated simultaneously.
3. Follow Gaia's rules. This should be a dead giveaway, but there are people who need to be reminded of this.
4. Keep swearing and whatnot to a minimum. It's fine if your character is in a stressful situation, etc. On this note, no instance of the F-bomb will be tolerated. Find something synonymous if you need to.
5. Unless you have permission from the owner of another character, you cannot kill another player's character(s). Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
6. Pay attention to the posts of others. The characters I put in are primary used for narrative purposes, and are not the main focus of the story. Remember that the story is not entirely about you.
7. Keep things fresh and interesting. Lengthen your posts and add in vivid descriptions. Believe me, descriptive posts are much more interesting to read. For example:
Pretty boring, huh? Let's see what that would look like with some detail added to it.
Not bad. It gives some depth to Mikhail's personality and has a pretty good action scene, to boot. While your posts don't have to be this long, put some effort into it and make it your own!

Mikhail heard a crash outside and ran out to check it out. He found an assassin and killed him with his sword.
Pretty boring, huh? Let's see what that would look like with some detail added to it.
Quote:
Mikhail sat quietly in the tavern, sipping a mug of ale. Things had been fairly quiet up until then, with the rebels' smuggling operation shut down. As he motioned to the barkeep for another pint of ale, he heard the shattering of a window across the road, followed by screaming. Remembering his oath to protect the innocent, he rose to his feet, dropped a few coins on the counter, then hastily left the building.
Outside, he found a man with a dagger deeply embedded in his back face-down in the remains of a window. The soldier knelt down and felt the man's neck. Instinctively, Mikhail drew his sword, noting that the body was still warm. A footstep on the broken glass made him wheel around. He found himself face to face with a darkly dressed man with a knife held at the ready. Mikhail deftly jumped back as the assassin stabbed at him. The soldier quickly regained his balance and prepared to meet his attacker's next strike. The assassin took the retreat as a sign of weakness and lunged with his blade held high. Mikhail's expert reflexes were faster, however, as he moved himself out of the way and planted his sword in the assassin's spine. The assailant quickly stopped moving as his blood began to pool on the road. His body dropped to the ground with a muffled thump. Mikhail stood triumphantly over the body of his attacker and readied himself, should any other threats approach...
