Today was a day for exploration, or so Kizev and his sister had decided. Daddy had told them not to stray too far, but "too far" was, in the cub's opinion too long a walk to bother with. Sometimes he had dreams of walking. A lot. But they faded away when he woke up and that was that. The most important part of the day was, of course, spending it with 'Dama. It wasn't that he and his sister couldn't leave each other, it was simply that they both felt more comfortable when they were together. As long as they had each other, nothing could go wrong. That was why today's exploration was going to be a success. Kizev looked over at his sister and grinned at the identical face looking back at him. "Ready?" he asked.

She was all for this adventure that they had been dreaming all day. Well, it had been Kizev's idea originally, the wandering paws under him itching for something new to do - even if Daddy had told them to stay put. There was no stopping him when he started, and she was always so happy to be next to him, for he was all she had, and was happy to be the white to his black. She was the dreamer, not the doer like he normally was, a quiet cub who spent most of her time dreaming stories up to tell their little family when Daddy came home in the morning hours, lilac eyes glittering with details.
"Always ready Kizev," She finally chirped back, her smile reflecting his as he looked at her, before turning to the vast ground that spread from under their paws - places she was not allowed by herself, unless with a family member - like Brother Mahina, who had taken her out when she met the couple.
"But where do we start?"

Well. That brought him up short. Kizev hadn't even considered where they would be exploring today. He stopped and looked around. In one direction...grass. In another direction...rocky grass. In a third direction...a rock.
"Past the rock!" he told 'Dama excitedly. It wasn't a particularly large rock even, but it probably weighed as much as either cub. It was also large enough to block said cub's line of sight, which meant he couldn't see much beyond it.
That made it the most unknown of the directions and therefore the most interesting. With a look back at his sister, Kizev started heading for the rock and beyond.

How exciting!
"To the rock!" She replied in turn. It didn't take long for the energy to become infectious, after the great exclamation from her brother, 'Dama found herself following his every footfall, giggling a little as she pounced after him, the large rock showing to be a worthy opponent.
"A worthy foe, this rock creature, a warrior of age and earth! What-for shall we do to smite him~" She almost sang out as her paws hit ground, before thinking. "Or is it a her? Who knows!" She chirped, as she skittered up to it, touching it with her paws, like a way marker. Catching her breath for a moment, she hopped up on the rock, looking around it.
"A sight for ageless eyes." she murmured, not entirely sure how that would be - it had been something one of her siblings had said before. Looking down at Kizev, she chortled happily. "Before we go further, come see, it's like a vast green ocean, calling out to those brave enough to depart on it."

Half of what 'Dama said, with that tone of voice and those kinds of words, went completely over his head. It made no sense, whatsoever, but Kizev liked it anyway. His sister was a great storyteller, even if the stories were sillier than anything else in the world. She had fun doing it and he had fun listening.
The cub studied the rock while 'Dama serenaded it and decided that yes, he could fit up there with her. So he did. He looked around, being able to see a lot more of the pride from here including-
"Water!" Kizev exclaimed, spotting the telltale reflection. "We should go to the water hole!" He bounded off the rock and looked back at 'Dama to make sure she wasn't going to spend all day talking about the rock.

She could have serenaded about the rock for hours on end - he was just lucky that she was more willing to follow him on his follies.
"The water hole~." She echoed back, going to bound down the rock towards him, her little tail flicking behind her. "Let us hope the Great Lion will follow us out there with his sights."

"Sure he will!" Kizev answered as he slid down an incline in the land. It wasn't steep enough, and the boy's speed wasn't so great, that he lost his balance, but Kizev did stumble for a moment or two before regaining his paws.
"Come, on, I'll race you!" he called back to 'Dama. There was no real reason that they needed to run or race, but it was fun and he liked to do things like that, on the spur of the moment.

A race?
Dama loved races, it was fun to let the air flow through her little mane, paws fumbling forward - always looking to where she wanted to get to. Well, get to faster than the other.
With a little wiggle of her body, she launched forwards, trying to get the upper paw on him.
"GO!"

"Hey, no fair!" Kizev laughed as he chased after his sister. Whoever said "go" always had the advantage anyway, but she'd started before she even said it! Not that he was going to complain, he was still pretty sure he could beat her!
The cubs ran, paws pounding over the ground until the water hole loomed close. The boy put on a final burst of speed and touched a paw to the refreshing liquid.
"Hah!" he declared, turning to see 'Dama. Right next to him.
"Wait...who won?"

She had the advantage, but it didn't last long, it seemed. She heard the footfalls catch up to her, but didn't know how fast.
It had been a good rush, her paws hitting the water at the end, her lungs bursting with pain in the desire for breath - a reminder of the race. She had looked up only to see her shadow beside her, just as excited - and now - bewildered by the fact that they had found their way at the same time.
"We . . " She trailed, thinking. "We both win! It is a rejoiceful event, I would say!"

The boy considered the words and the girl who had spoken them. He had wanted to win, of course, but it seemed like they were just as fast. Or...maybe he was faster. She'd had a head start after all. But it seemed better not to mention it. Besides, they were twins. A tie was a good thing.
"Yeah!" Kizev agreed. "It was a good race." Best of all, it was with 'Dama. That made everything awesome.
