The cave here was smaller than Suravel Ndima's usual brewing den, but it couldn't be helped. This was the secret brewing den where she experimented with flavors, strengths, methods, and mixtures for newer and better brews. It was her job, duty, and pleasure to be the brew-maker, but Ndima wanted to be seen as a brew-master, especially by Pirato and his favored pirates and corsairs. But even if they didn't fermenting the fruit and brewing gave Ndima great pleasure.
The smell of fermenting pineapples and grapefruit and kwiw came to her. She sniffed and nodded. It wasn't bad. Needed a bit more sweetness to it though. Otherwise it would be too bitter. She dipped her nail into the brew and tasted the dripplings nodded again as she approved of the growing strength. This was going to be a very good brew.
Once she decided how to make it just that much sweeter without over powering the other flavors.
Ndima set her traps as she left the small inner cave of the series of caves. She didn't need anyone stumbling onto her experiments before they were prefect. And she needed to gather the fruits that were ready for her harvesting them.
In the mouth of the caves, Ndima sat down next to the net she'd hidden close to the exit, and thought about which fruits she should harvest, ferment and then add to the new brew. She frowned into the sunlight as she thought.

Ndima nodded to herself as she made her decision and started to the small cache of fruits she had relatively near here, but just beyond the pride's lands. If she had some luck left with her today, the fruits she'd stashed there were ready for the fermentation process and hadn't been picked over by rogues or other animals. As frustrating as it was, it happened, but the spot was very good of small fruits, just even sun and shade, salt brine from the ocean and fresh rain water to slowly ripen smaller fruits. Might as well clean out that cache now since she was closer to it than usual.
Ndima loved working on her brews, part of it was the pride of success of a finished delicious drink and fruit. But part of it was the process - it was serene, at least to her it was serene. Walk and collect her caches, bring them to a brewing chamber, start the fermenting process, go harvest unripened fruit, bury them in her cache places, explore for more secret cache spots, return to the brew chambers and complete the process. It just made sense to her. Plus it was delicious, and she should know.
When she got to the border, there was another hyena sitting a little too close to her cache spot, but he didn't seem to know about it. She narrowed her eyes and watched for any sign that the male was looking for her fruits or was going to cause any troubles for her in general. Well, she could hold her own in a fight, so - "Who are you?" Short, blunt, slightly grumpy.

He grumpily kicked at a rock, and sat down. He was dirty, the swampy lands he had traveled through earlier still clinging to him. He didn't really care, because he wasn't trying to impress anyone. There were no ladies around, and he wasn't really expecting to run into any. Though the further he went tracking this herd, the more likely it would be he'd run across someone.
The voice took him by surprise, and he perked with his eyes wide. Then he felt completely self conscious. Damn it. Someone had found him, and she was female nonetheless. He began stammering, and tried to clear his throat.
Get it together, man! Get it together! He was better than this, and he knew it. He had been born of two aristocrats after all. Even if he wasn't completely the aristocrat they had been.
"I am sorry! I hadn't thought I crossed the borders. Do forgive me." He bowed his head in greeting, standing and holding a paw to his chest while he bowed.
"I am Boraccio. It's a pleasure to meet you...." He followed, asking for her own name.
