Today is a very special day in Tianxia!

In this ORP, we are playing out the marriage of the current empress, Ting Lan (Ari) to a Pridelands prince, Miandui Tiaozhan (Hanjari). This is a big deal! Once they are married, he will become Emperor of Tianxia, and will have just as much power as Ting Lan. Which is why this isn't something we could not just skim over!

-

Rules
1. Be nice! At least, OOcly. xD
2. No godmoding!
3. Any member of Tianxia can post. But you don't need one to post, either!
4. Don't eat the babies.
5. All SoA rules apply~

Location and Appearance

The wedding will take place in the central house, at the base of a cliff. The area resembles a roman theatre. So the floor is sloping downwards, with several ledges (of course, not as organized as an actual roman theatre) where the guests can sit. It is worth noting it is actually a rather comfortable space, made up mostly of rock, a thin layer of earth and patches of grass. This leads down to a smallish flat area, half of which is occupied by a large rock formation, like a stage, and this is where the empress will address the pride. Scattered about, for the guests, there are a few food items, consisting of birds, baboons and aardvarks.

Proceedings

To avoid making a stilted RP, the only real thing we’ll write here about proceedings is:
Guests will gather and find their seats. They can talk and mingle and have fun! At some point Ari will address the pride. The rest is up to RP!

So you can feel free to have your characters strike up conversation with each other, discuss job, education and marriage opportunities, argue and make friends! We only request no full-out brawls.

User Image

No one in the pride?

That's alright! You can feel free to RP a non-SoA species watching the event, or familiars. Prey animals, however, probably won't find it the best place to hang out. If you happen to have a god SoA, due to them being... gods, it is also alright for them to just pop in and pretend to be members, since it is an RP involving all houses, and not everyone knows everyone. However, we'll have to request that your god remain in a mortal disguise, to not totally derail things. xD Unless we discuss something beforehand!

Also, this RP can be used as a JRP! So if you have any superfluous SoA around, just post them in our joining thread, we'll say OK, and you can pretend they've already joined and post away!

User Image

Other

If you want to have your character involved in the wedding somehow, feel free to PM me (wooga Paes) and we can talk! (AIM is also cool. My AIM is: woogacp)

Ping was, perhaps, a little tired. He’d left a little late for the whole ordeal, despite his mother’s warnings (Mingyu herself had not made the journey, due to her age), and had been forced to cut back on the sleep to arrive in time. And, yet, he also appeared to be one of the first to arrive.

The black and white male huffed, appearing almost annoyed as he picked his way down the slope, seating himself beside a dead bird. Perhaps not the ideal companion for this sort of thing, but he was hungry. Besides, there would be plenty of time to chat later. Maybe he could even talk to someone important. Someone from the North, and they would invite him over to learn. That would be amazing! Or maybe he could even get hired as a royal guard, or… something!

But that would have to wait until more people arrived, so he idly pulled the bird closer and began to nibble on it, glancing at the stage ahead, and wondering just when the Empress would show up there.

The grey and dark blue male was hidden in the back silently, his godly figure hidden in the illusion of a mortal whom just seemed to enjoy shiny objects; gold eyes fixated on events ahead. Beyond bits of metal he was quite unnoticeable and the male god hd in his mortal form well. It always fascinated him when new royalty took stage, moreso when he'd an idea they existed before-- to a degree, of course. His tail curled neatly around himself, and he watched in rapt attention, calmly ignoring others passing by him. He wanted to blend in and watch for now, and see to it things went well.

(the couple)

"Oh, isn't this just magical?"

Ryger did his best to not roll his eyes, as none of this was magical. His wife, though much younger than him, was caught up in the moment that they had been preparing for some time.

"I'm so excited, Empress Ting Lan will be beautiful," Etain said, her pink eyes nearly glimmering with excitement. Ryger, the guard for the to-be-Emperor Miandui, was nervous. So many pridemembers would be in one small, compact location. More than there had been in a very, very long time. So much could go wrong, and he was in charge of keeping his eyes open to protect the royal pair. At least the blue lion didn't have to protect both of them.

"Yeah, yeah," Ryger said, receiving a swap across the face from his wife for his dismissal.

"At least try to enjoy yourself!" pouted Etain as she waited for more guests to arrive. She had done her best to catch food for everyone, and hoped that it was well enjoyed.

Ria arrived before her parents. The plan had been to stagger their arrival, in case anything happened. Though the houses were at peace right now, Zahi was cynical enough to not put a lot of trust in the other houses. Foolish as that would be, as the West House was the largest at the moment (since no one could help themselves breeding, ick).

Alizeti followed after his future-wife, the female that kept putting off their own wedding. Perhaps after seeing the Empress wed her own consort, Ria might be more inclined to get married. The pressure to have cubs soon after was what turned his mate off, and so he did his best to learn from Zahi and Mio while waiting.

"We've arrived," he said, guiding her to where she should sit. Closer to the area where the Empress and future Emperor would be, as they were the future Lord and Lady of the West.

Ria took her seat, keeping herself quiet as she observed the celebrations around her. She wasn't ready to socialize unless those of high rank in other Houses approached her.

The mountain path from the north was winding and treacherous should one ever get lost. Rock faces were scarred and paths buried under rubble, the way to the proud center of the Tianxia would elude all those but whom know it. A large, dark lion lead a small group through the mountain pass, scaling inclines and across chasms before opening up to a short steppe that descended toward the Center House were the summons was to be met. The group left in the early morning on the order of the former Lady of the North House, Fu Ren, to be punctual and to uphold the family honor to be respectful to the new members of the Central House, as well as the others.

Sheng Kou strode with heavy steps, his head held just above shoulder length as he kept eyes open as he crossed the short expanse to the main area of the pride's lands. Now the former Lord, he still gives the orders and watches for the house, his presence is one known among the Houses to be wary of and to never upset. For that reason, he brings his group.

Behind him, his son and now Lord, Xun Lin, walked with pride and with an air of regal manner. Trained by his father and taught by his mother, he does his best to exemplify what a Lord should appear as. Beside him, his brother and guard, Dohzou, smaller in size, but just as proud and courageous as his family.

"Father, the other path would have been quicker and much safer." Xun pointed out as the rocky environment faded into the grassy lands.

"The rogue's path would kill anyone unfit to challenge it, but I'd have to agree with Hashmal." The brother chimed. The rogue's path, or rather paths were the other routes that could be taken to the center house would it not have been for the former Lord's rampages through them making most of them impassable.

"What is a small challenge for my sons if they were to die in a chasm on their way to tell the Empress of their new positions? Why, it would be a darn shame, and an embarrassment, if you two could not jump a chasm or two." The former Lord gave a hardly laugh and a grin as he lead his two sons. It has been a long time since he had rampaged out of anger and frustration that he no longer needed his accompanying females with him most of the time. Surely his sons would be able to keep him calm.

"It would five chasms, two inclines, and a sheer cliff. If we took the recommended route, it would have been just one incline and a steady descension. Though, I suppose that would be far too easy for you, father."

----

The three lions made no sound as they entered the theatron of where the summons was to gather. Sheng settled himself close to the front and from where they came - the North. His two sons settled themselves down, each with their regal posture. Eyes surveyed the area for the others who came.

Dohzou motioned to one. A black and white lion who sat beside some dead avian. "From the west, judging from where he came. Doesn't appear to be of high rank."

"Agreed. The couple there..." Sheng spoke. "will surely be an annoyance if they fawn over the Empress. Still, be on guard should anything should... occur." The former lord disliked the idea that all the Houses were summoned to such a small area. It was uncomfortable for him, due to his size, it would be without a doubt moreso should the area become crowded. Still, they were from the North and it was their solemn duty to protect the pride, in turn, the Empress. "Dohzou, you will reframe from calling your brother by his common name or I shall leave you lost in the mountains." The son in question simply nodded. "It appears a daughter of the West has arrived..."

"Father, do you think she will accept me as her Lord?" Xun asked as he continued to watch the parodos for more newcomers and the Empress.

"If she does not, then I shall assume the title. Simple. So you better make a good impression because I rather spend my time with your mother than telling you how to do your job."

In what could be considered, perhaps, a bold entry, a very large lion appeared up front on the rocks. Of course, most members of the pride would know who he was, and it wasn’t likely he would be scolded. After all, Wei Gang had founded this pride, and run it for quite some time. Not to mention, he was large. Very large, perhaps even by the standards of the pride he'd been born in. So he was a little hard not to recognize.

He lingered up on the rock for a few moments, simply examining who had arrived. Then he smirked, because he realized that, standing where he was, he might be expected to speak. And would probably irritate his daughter. It was a good thing, then, that not many had arrived yet. Wei Gang could see a black and white male, one of Zahi’s spawn and what he recalled to be her future mate… A strange lion Ahali didn’t recognize at all. And another pair he had seen in passing, apparently connected to Miandui.

Wei Gang also happened to spot Sheng. He made his way down from his perch, not providing any satisfaction as to why he had been up there. Though he no longer held the title of Emperor, the lion easily outranked anyone but his daughter, mate and his soon to be son-in-law, and owed no one satisfaction.

He headed over to the northerners, for some amusement. “Sheng Kou,” he greeted, but spared only a nod to his sons and whoever else had come. “And where is Fu Ren?”

-

Being far down the line of succession had a way of making you careless, while nobility made you somewhat bratty. Not that Zhong Zise wished to be known as such, so she entered at her most regal. Fortunately, due to her breeding, education and high rank, this was easy enough for the purple female. She still couldn’t help but blink upon seeing the Lord of the North already here, some other lions and… well, the former emperor. She had always found the lion a little scary.

Much as the duchess would have liked to go over talk to some of those males from the north, she headed, instead, towards her sister. “Sister!” She greeted cheerfully, but reserved even more for her consort. “And Wailai! What a pleasure!” Zise smiled widely, because while she couldn’t yet try to find anyone interesting around, she might as well pester her siblings. “It feels like it has been so long!” Really, it hadn’t, but she could be a little dramatic sometimes.

-

She was, as usual, running ahead of her parents, and siblings. Because that was the sort of thing Zhenzhen did. She ran about, and she liked to be ahead, so she could run back and tell people what was happening before she got there. But now that she was actually at the location (she knew the way, having been here before), she didn’t quite want to return to her parents and update them. No, now she wanted to dive straight into the action!

What the little leotah saw were lions. Lots of lions. She had never seen so many lions at once! But she was too young to be afraid of them, and only perked her ears, searching for the best target. That target just-so happened to be sitting further in the back than the others. He was gray, and blue. And he had sparkly spots.

The dark cub happily hurried over. “Hi, mister!” She knew her manners, of course, though her greeting may appear too confident. How else was Zhenzhen supposed to greet someone?

Sheng smirked as he noted his former Emperor approached from the stage. No doubt in his mind did he suspect that the old rival would ever pass a chance to antagonize him. Still, he, as a former Lord, he is the progenitor of his line here in the Tianxia. Nodding to his ranking friend, he replied: "She will not be able to make it." he replied blantly. He wasn't beating bushes. Fu Ren had no intention of coming - no, she outright refused to come. Granted, she had a back and forth with herself whilst he watched with feigned interest. She insisted that no daughter of her a cursed sister would get her to go to some "marry". Then again, she felt that she had to go as she was the former Lady, but justified it all that she is the former Lady and therefore need not go. Though, she commanded her mate and her sons to go in her stead and to be respectful and give gifts. Shaking his head, the former lord gave a chuckle under his breath. "I am here in her stead. But if that bothers you, then you can take it up with me."

Xun gave a glance between the behemoths of the pride. His father was just short of the emperor, but both were extremely volatile if they were to get into a heated discussion. At least, his father was notorious to break something wherever he goes.

Actually, this would be the first time Dohzou had actually seen the emperor up close. The sheer size and power between his father and the emperor amazed him.

It hadn't been long since they joined, but already the mated pair known as Wēnróu and Shǒuhùsēnlín had settled in like they...well, belonged. The pride suited both of them well, especially their new home within the South House. The pair came into the area together, seating themselves in a spot where the pale female could spread out one of her carefully preserved hides and her ink, in order to better record the proceedings for generations to come. What happened to the Empress was pertinent to ALL in the pride, after all. Once Wēnróu was properly settled, Shǒu went to retrieve a couple of hares for them to snack on during the proceedings.

When he returned to his mate, the female was already making notations with her single dulled claw, dipped in ink. "Don't work too hard, beloved." Wēnróu looked up from her work and smiled brightly.

"Do not worry, dearest. I will still enjoy myself. But important entrances, like the former Emperor's and heads of Houses, must be noted."

Kweupe was, as he had always been, an awkward and fanciful thing. While he dreamed of something bigger and better for himself, he had a wild imagination and a love for all things beautiful and magical. In his mind, a wedding, no, a royal wedding was both of those things and the introverted, yet friendly male felt a small shiver trace down his spine as he approached the central house.

He'd always found the cliffside to be most majestic and marveled as he reached the base. Many other lions had gathered, though there were none that he knew well. Few fell into that catergorie as it was, but he didn't let such thoughts bother him in such a joyous time! If anything, maybe he could make a new friend or two while mingling with the other guests.

Hell, maybe he would see some of his family, as well! One could hope, right? The young West House male settled himself in, tail flicking.

A father and daughter of the East House were next to enter, their pride names; Bai Bo and Ping. And as close as they were, they could be no different. In fact the only similarity they shared was a curiosity and hunger for knowledge.

But whilst Bai Bo was lean and serious-faced his daughter was curvy and smiling; much like her mother in that respect. She was the talker, the charmer, the female who laughed and spoke with all that she met. Her father was anti-social and grumpy and not an easy lion to get on with at the best of times.

Ping gave her father a gentle shove in the direction of a suitable place to seat, close enough to some who already seemed engaged in conversation.

"This is all so exciting, isn't it!" She breathed romantically. "I can't wait for the day I get married."

Her father, with a forced smile teased: "I don't think you'll find a male patient enough, dear daughter."

She made a face at him and squeezed past a lion to get to her seat. "Excuse me. Sorry."

While he shared royal blood, he lived his life under the reminder that his conception had been something of an oddity. Of his litter mates, he had strived for his father's approval and of his littermates, he was rejected by their sire the most. Tyro had made it very clear that the fling that brought them into the world had been a mistake and that he washed his paws of the whole affair. The others had grown to handle the situation in their own way, some by finding love of their own and others by following their mother's example.

Zhao Yun had kept his head down and dedicated himself to the art of combat. He haunted the border of his house's territory and kept silent watch over the border. As a hunter he was fairly successful and had yet to disappoint but there was a part of him that still longed for a connection to his father's line. The wedding announcement, to him, was a small ray of light in that direction.

It was one of his father's siblings, though he'd never personally met her. She bore the mark of his father across her chest and the clever eyes of his grandmother. The male was someone he'd seen about but had never gone out of his way to greet.

Silent as a phantom, Yun stepped into the theatron and settled himself up in one of the higher seats. It was further from the ceremony itself but he could still oversee the ceremony.

Bai Suzhen didn't particularly care for weddings. Or really, any formal gathering that distracted her from her studies. She didn't like...all the effort. It had nothing to do with the couple or the ceremony in and of itself. [Actually, she loved the ceremonies from a purely cultural sentiment.] It was just...so tedious. Having to straighten our her fur. Coming together to look nice for everyone. Smiling. Mostly smiling. Suzhen simply hadn't really mastered that art yet.

Meanwhile, her mind was a million miles away, pondering the newest thing she had become fascinated with: insects. Luckily no one in the wedding party was a mind reader. She doubted the future empress would be too pleased with the knowledge that one of her subjects was off fantasizing about all the different kinds of locusts in the world while they exchanged vows.

Unfortunately for Suzhen, she'd taken a spot near the front. She might have been distracted, but she wasn't a loner. Before she knew it the spots around her were full, and she was feeling increasingly more tense. It was only a matter of time now before she had to...smile at someone.
