xxxxxThe lake was a safe place. There was a path from the main pridal area to the lake that Adina had memorized; she'd stomped down most of the grass herself, traveling here over and over. It often wasn't filled with others, but there was always someone there, which was reassuring in case she needed help. Everyone within the pride knew of her, and also knew where to find her if ever she was needed for someone. Which she wasn't. But there had been a time or two when Sultan Aali had found her there, simply to chat. Otherwise, everyone left her alone. Adina spent her life rather lonely. Many were afraid to talk to her, either still remembering her past as a kajira or feeling awkward because she's blind. Even her own pad had other banu to tend to, banu who were worthwhile to the pride, and left her on her own. But Adina didn't mind; she knew her place in the pride and knew the workings. She accepted it all.

xxxxxIt was a really nice, warm day in the Ukuucha'wafalme lands. There was a slight breeze - Adina could feel it ruffling her fur and hear it rustling through the grasses. The blind banu smiled, imagining the ripples that were more than likely appearing in the lake's crystal waters. She was sure that had she made it to banu status without losing her sight, the lake would still be a favorite place of hers among the lands. Always had she adored water, and though she could no longer splash about in it, she still loved to be around it. A silly grin made its way unto her mouth as she stepped her paws into the water, sighing slightly at the sweet coolness pooling around her paws. Just because she lost her sight didn't mean she had to lose out on the simple joys in life.

The day seemed to drag on forever, and with the day came the heat. He sighed, feeling a bit too warm under the black pelt that he wore over his shoulders. He was being stupid today...He should have left that pelt at home. But for some reason, he was growing attached to it and it had began coming around with him more, and more often. The first place his mind went, was to the cooling water. Ooh how he wanted to just soak in it for awhile.

He begun humming to himself, almost enjoying the solitude. The pride's numbers were large, and it was hard to get away. His banu all had an emotional handicap or another..Well..except for Jivu. For some reason she remained rather mentally capable. Though she wasn't very affectionate. To be fair, neither was he. He tried, to be sure, but he was scarred from watching his past banu die and his cubs going with them. It had put up an emotional barrier he tried every day to push away.

His humming slowed with those thoughts and he sighed. But his eyes locked in on a familiar figure laying in the grass near the water. He smiled. Well, if it was going to be anyone, he figured it should be her. He knew very little about her.

"Good afternoon, Banu Adina." He said with a jovial (much more jovial than he felt) tone.

xxxxxAdina's ears perked quickly, swiveling slightly at the sound of swishing grass. It was much harsher than that of normal grasses swaying in the wind, whcih was the first sign of an approaching lion. Straining against the urge to bolt up, the banu remained lying with her paws in the water, allowing the lushness of the lion's voice to overcome her. A small, polite smile washed over her face before she placed the voice, knowing that it was always better to remain in an awkward smile than being impolite. When recognition hit her, Adina gasped a bit, forgetting her manners. "Pad... Riad'naim? S-surprising to hear from you." She winced as soon as it was out of her mouth, realizing how it sounded disrespectful. Certainly she hadn't meant that in a mean, hurt way; she understood not speaking to him often. It had been more of an actual shock than anything.

xxxxxRiad'namir was her pad. And she actually hadn't heard from him in a while. It was quite a sweet surprise to have him seek her out. Well, she certainly didn't know whether or not her sought her out. But Adina definitely preferred to imagine he did. Her smile turned much warmer at this thought, settling on it and meditating on it for a bit before realizing that she may want to attempt to make conversation. She was as awkward as one could get; Adina wasn't much of a social butterfly, well, ever, and her conversation certainly lacked because of that. "How... have you been, Pad Riad'naim?" Due to her lack of familiarity with Riad, she was very formal and uncertain. Adina wasn't really sure what kind of pad Riad'naim was yet, and didn't want her words to slip up and land her back to Kajira-status. Not after she'd worked so hard to gain trust within the pride.

Ruler of Everything

He knew that he could find himself busy with pridal politics sometimes, but he always tried to be around for his banu. He liked their company, and despite all the bad memories he carried, they helped him move on. Adina was one of those, despite her ailment. He didn't care that she was blind, because he was a romantic at heart. Surely love could overcome something so small as sight. What did sight have to do with love?

He loved each of his banu, though he knew with great certainty that none of them really loved him. The idea hit him to the core, but he knew with time that could change..Maybe.. Maybe they just hadn't realized the kind hearted fellow they had ended up with.

Though he hadn't sought Adina out, he was certainly happy of the company. He smiled, and sat closer to her.

"I am well, Banu Adina. Though I'd like very much if we could call each other Adina and Riad.. Now that we are out of the prides eye." He said, his tone friendly and warm.
"Too much formality and I begin to forget myself." He grinned again, and looked over at her. She was a pretty thing, her purples called to him.. He rather liked her, though her history preceded her.
