This room was different from the last there. For one, Clerise had waded into it at first, thinking that the liquid flooding the room was water. Instead, it turned out to be something more slippery.

She was glad that there was a dresser to set her coat onto, peeling out of it, careful not to let the trails touch the ground. It was a relatively large room, this one, and she couldn't see the corners of it. The air was warm and muggy, like someone had taken all of Miami and dropped it into this house.

It was only when Clerise tried to rub some of it off of her thigh that she realized it was oil.

She was practically knee deep in oil.

This house was ********' strange.
