Patroling had always been something Galning enjoyed doing. It meant he got to spend the entire morning - or afternoon or whatever his shift was - moving. He liked to be in motion. And the added excitement of a potential challenge just made things all the more fun!
But lately, since bringing home his son Yollalunta, Galning had wanted more and more to spend time with the little ball of fur, teaching him to fight and be the best Stormborn possible. He hadn't expected to enjoy being a father, but even the general fun of being on sentry duty paled in comparison to that.
Really, though, it was too bad his son wasn't taking to the pride more quickly. The night before, he'd heard Yolla crying. He hadn't known what to do about that. He'd cried as a cub, but that was because his brothers and cousins were awful. Yolla's cousins weren't that bad. At least, he didn't think they were.
His brow furrowed as he thought about the possibility that someone might be bullying his son and decided that Yolla would have to come with him on his next patrol. Father-son bonding and all that.

Unndis had been restless for some time now. Or rather, her feet had been the restless ones. The purple hued lioness couldn't rest more than a day somewhere, without her big paws leading the way, once more. In a way, it seemed rather nice. Without this restlessness, there was the biggest possibility that Unndis would've stayed in the ruins of her former home. Yes, that would've been the outcome. But, her feet and possibly fate had a better idea for her life. Leaving the woods and travelling so far, oh so far from home. It was heart wrenching and intimidating at first. But Unndis got used to it. She'd seen much in her nomadic wandering. Her feet seemed to get all the more sure footed the closer she'd come to this coastal area.
There seemed to be something about this place that had drawn her to it, even from afar. To anyone else, that notion might've sounded silly or crazy, but to Unndis the notion was right. The scene splattered lioness wasn't necessarily superstitious. She simply just held certain beliefs to be true.

Schicksalswende How did you manage to roll less than a ten? I sent you the link because I was sure you'd roll higher. cool Instead of having them actually fight, would you rather have him just explain the rules to her in this RP and try another one later with the hope that the dice are more cooperative? "Yolla, it's just not very masculine to cry, even at night when you think no one can hear you," Galning was saying, practicing what he would say to his son the next time he heard him crying in the dark of their den.
"Crying won't solve problems. If you're having trouble with the other cubs, I can show you a few moves to make sure they think really hard about picking fights with you. If you miss your mum and your brother, well, maybe you can go look for them when you get older. Become a captain and lead a viking in their general direction, and then pop in for a visit."
That sounded like good advice to Galning, though he wasn't quite sure it was allowed. He knew it wasn't disallowed to visit people in the rogue lands. It just typically wasn't done. Still, there was plenty of time for Yolla to learn about that if that was what he wanted to do with himself. Really, though, Galning hoped it was just that his son wasn't getting along with the other cubs. That was much easier to deal with.
"Oh, er. Hello there!" he exclaimed, startled to see an unfamiliar lioness a short distance away. Hopefully he asked, "Are you here to fight?"

Princess_Feylin Sure, I wouldn't mind doing that first. I don't know, I have an inkling that the numbers are always out to get me. But they'll cooperate, someday. Even if I have to tediously beat them into submission. >D Purple ears swiveled around, having picked up the sound of someone walking around in the distance. The individual also appeared to be muttering to themselves about something, at the distance she was at, Unndis couldn't be certain. Perhaps if anything, the wind was playing games with her ears, as it sometimes did. The lioness was going to wander on, but stopped in place when another yelled out a greeting. Which was followed by something that threw her off guard a bit, perhaps more for the tone of the question. " ..To fight? Umm.. " Unndis didn't quite know how to reply.

Schicksalswende I hope you don't have to beat them into submission. Next time, you get to roll first. cool Galning may have been maturing a little bit thanks to the responsibilities that came with parenthood, but he was still a very immature lion at heart. It took more effort than it should have for him to avoid rolling his eyes and saying "duh!" in response to her obvious confusion. He had to remind himself that not everyone knew of the mighty Stormborn. In fact there had been a time when he hadn't known of them, but he tended to forget that.
"In order to be one of the Stormborn, which is the name of the pride whose lands you're walking through, you have to fight one of the pride's warriors and either defeat them or fight to a draw. We're descended from the gods of storm and conquest, and while we don't object to outlander blood keeping us from becoming inbred, outlanders have to prove their worthiness by fighting the askorun."
For Galning that had been a very straightforward explanation. Usually his explanations wandered all over the place, following tangential trails and terminating suddenly without ever having answered the question they were intended to answer, or only answering it in a barely coherent rush at the end of a breath
Of course, his explanation made no mention of the fact that he and his family were all outlander born in his generation, and had come across the pride by chance. Their cubs were all viking born, so technically their blood hadn't yet mingled with Stormborn blood. But that sort of thing was easy to overlook. At least for Galning.

Princess_Feylin Joy~ Also, I'm sorry for taking so long. My muse went on mini hiatus in celebration for a hateful bodily function. D; A purple ear swished backwards, upon hearing the immature response of the male. That was an utterance for a cub, not a full grown lion. Though, Unndis wasn't sure of his age, it still seemed as though he was old enough not to say that. Hopefully, anyway. Perhaps though, he was just forever young. Ahh, so she'd been on Pridal lands? Interesting. She should have figured though, no telling how many lands she'd intruded upon in her wanderings. At the very least, the male had given her a succinct explanation of the situation at hand. More or less. Of all the Prides she'd found, this one seemed the most intriguing already. They claim to be descendants of gods? It wasn't surprising that any outsiders had to prove themselves to become pride members. It would seem that way for a good number of them. Or at least, from what she could recall, and if the tales of others could be taken more than just a grain of sand. Unndis' black eyes seemed to grow alight with emotion at the thought of a home. This place seemed to call to her already. And even if the call took her elsewhere, then at least she would have known what it was like to live with others. To be helpful to others, more than just herself. " Your home interests me. I'll have to participate in a duel, someday. "

Schicksalswende No worries. I've gotten in a bit over my head with RPs lately, so it was a welcome breather. He wasn't sure why the lovely lioness's expression changed so quickly. Had she somehow read his thoughts? Sometimes he wasn't in full control of his faculties, like when he was fighting and he went berserker, but that wasn't what was going on right now, so he knew he hadn't actually said anything he shouldn't have. Maybe his face had given him away, or some other part of his body had betrayed his immature tendencies.
"Do you fight?" he asked, eying her without much subtlety and with evident disbelief that she was a lioness who knew all that much about battle.
"The lions of the Stormborn are all warriors, even those who don't go out viking. If you're going to fight one of us, you will probably want to spend some time practicing."
It didn't occur to him that he might come across as arrogant or patronizing. He just wanted to make sure the lioness understood what she would be getting into as a result of his home interesting her. Interesting. That was such a small, trite way to feel about the Stormborn, in Galning's opinion, but he was a die-hard convert to the pride's ways. He hadn't expected to love the pride like he did, but now that he was here, he knew he had found a home.

The scenic pelted lioness couldn't help but feel like tasteful piece of meat, while the pied male eyed her. He could have at the very least, been less obvious about it. The question that had been put forward, however, helped to distract the lioness. Did she fight? Unndis assumed he'd meant in a physical confrontation, sort of way. She had been in a few scuffles, yes. But they hadn't been outright fights. " I've been in a scrap or two, but not a serious fight, if that is the impression I am getting. " Unndis wondered if the pride male knew that he was slightly condenscending in his words. It wasn't too terrible, as the lioness had come across far worse in her travels. Perhaps his tone was warranted by the words she'd chosen? If she'd accidentally insulted him, she didn't mean it. There was little telling what ones' words can do. You could always keep silent, but even that will eventually insult someone.

Schicksalswende Whenever you have time. cool Galning figured that unless she came from a ridiculously martial pride, her answer meant that she would not do very well in any sort of a fight with a reaver and she would end up a thrall. It crossed his mind momentarily that he could maybe capture her and make her his thrall, but he decided against it almost immediately. That wouldn't be very nice or polite of him. Not that either was supposed to concern a reaver, but Galning couldn't help it. He wasn't actually a bad guy, after all.
"In that case, if you mean to fight your way in you really should train or practice or something." He meant this to sound helpful and friendly, which was how it was intended, but there was a hint of condescension still lingering. A scrapper versus a warrior would be no sort of fight at all.
"Until you're ready for that, probably you shouldn't hang around too close to this whole general area. Other reavers might not be as willing to let someone like you pass unhampered. You could get hurt or killed or taken as a thrall, and I'm pretty sure you don't want any of those things to happen."
"I would really like to hear that you've won a challenge and made it into the pride," he said truthfully. Then he smiled. She was pretty and he was young. He couldn't help that either, really.

Princess_Feylin Sorry for taking so long. xD; Unndis listened to the male's words, taking them seriously. Not that she wouldn't have, but that's not the point. This wasn't a situation to take lightly. the purple lioness had no intention of getting seriously hurt, or killed. The former could easily lead to the latter, and she didn't want that at all. Unndis didn't know that what a Thrall was but it didn't sound like something pleasant. that rank probably meant slavery, which was the only thought she could connect to word, merely from guesswork. She was quite glad to have come across a kinder male of this Pride, and quitely thanked the Greater Powers, in her head. " Then, that is what I shall do. " Unndis said and smiled. " I thank you for your words, and I will certainly seek you out when my training rewards me. "
