About civilization rps
User Image
What is a civilization rp?:
In this form of rp you take control of not one character but a race or species of characters, and lead them to the end of their lines of story, against or with the other races or species that are competing with them for dominance.

What are the limits?:
The limits of Your race are the same as in the natural world, they will have their strengths and weaknesses, while in technology Things will be decided by majority vote. Teleportation is a good show of one that gets talked about alot, most the time it is shot down but in certain circumstances it is allowed later on when a species technology could plausibly support the infrastructure for it.

How are battles decided?:
Battles are decided by the other plays by way of a vote about who wrote the best most realistic version of the battle. though this seems like sometimes it could be crushing to players who spent days getting their fleet to power, it keeps the game going with a fair consensus of the events of the rp.

Culture

Norinea culture is very clannish and has no large central government. even though a central government doesn't exist it is not because of lack of attempts. Norinea are very territorial and share little leading to the constant collapse of any coalitions, or alliances amongst themselves. The clan is broken into three groups:
1. The war-master- the descendent of the progenitor of the clan.
2. The Shaman- he who hold the holy symbols of the clan and keeps the gods pleased.
3. The worker- he who works the fields, scours the forest, and builds the shelters of the clan.
4. The woman- those who must be protected, for they bear the future of the clan.

They have held this system since they first learned to utilize shelter and could live in populations of 10 Norieans, and have strongly refused to lose this classic piece of their culture.

History

The Norinea have only just started their races history having reached the use of iron in their fist three hundred years, bows and other ranged weapons and tools have almost completely be over looked by the Norinea. The only ranged implements they have developed are the spear and a very crude sling. More recently they have been visited by a race that has descended from the great upper sea and begun to set up clans over the whole world. Early on they fought and drove away many of the intruders, but in the end have now fallen into trade and even safe alliances with this new group though many things have been given to them they have refused much. They have not taken the outsiders armor, nor their thunder slings. These would taint their race. This phobia of being tainted has only stopped them from taking weapons and armor, it has not stopped them from traveling to the outsiders how sphere through the great upper sea to meet with the high war-master of the outsiders.

Technology

Norinea technology is still very primitive though this doesn't take into account what they can actually use. The Norinea have been given a small fleet that the clans share and use to conduct trade with the outsider race home fleets. Though they have this fleet they have requested there be no weapons and that it's armor be nearly skeletal. their greatest technological advancement is a five base pontoon they use to get across the large seas of their moon world. it is outfitted with a large version of their sling to allow the operating clan some defensive and offensive capabilities. Though still in their iron age they have come to greatly rely on the outsider metal called steel to support their weapons growth. They do not yet know how to produce this metal but continue to strive for it, and refuse to ask for the secret.

physiology

Norinea are on average 6' 8" in height and weigh around 210 Lbs. The resemble falcons and lizards in their outward appearance but contain very little DNA in common with either earth grouping. their eyes are normally a deep red color, and their "hair" which is made of quills is a deep green just like their skin, and grows around 5' long. on each hand and foot they have 4" talons that is residual from their pre civilized ancestors.

Xel'ria's Hope is orbiting one of their early attempts of establishing a colony on Trevish Xl, scanning the planet to see if their terraforming project went as planed. Naturally it didn't. The colony had been wiped from the face of the planet by the rapidly growing jungle. The Captain ordered the Xel'ria to head out since there was nothing they could use here for now.

They needed parts for some new mechs they where working on so they decide to go and try to find a friendly race to trade with.

Kitol stared out the view port the void of space stretched before him, like a tapestry painted by the Ancients themselves. So full of potential and chaos. The Egiminon's Hawk sped holding two technicals in grav. lock as they rushed to the nearest system. He walked through the promenade watching the families go about their day. Waiting for the ship to reach the new worlds, and set up colonies. The Arch-Tech light fighters in the hangers were there for early detection of life. If life wasn't found within this era the people would be crushed.

Jostol watched as the engine fluxed in and out of critical heat. The technical The Ancients Gaze was 150 years old and pushing retirement. The only reason it was chosen to be on this mission was that it had been outfitted with stealth equipment during the RocheV massacre. It also was the only technical to still be fully armed even in this great age of peace. With these equipment oddities it was seen as more of a capital ship for the light fighters that a colonization ship.

Pol-teil stood on the bridge of the Hammer of Wind's bridge her cold gaze looking over the statistics flowing across every inch of the screen. All she wanted was to be free of the shackles of military life. Once on this planet she would be free to retire early and settle down. There was no male she particularly liked but she never stopped looking. She was only seventeen years old she still had around thirty six years left to live. That was a long time and she would be fine until that day came, but she always felt empty being alone on the bridge of this ship.

Kitol Walked with the other Arbites in his squad. He had joined to help keep peace on the last six months of this trip. There had been only been three crimes committed the entire tip thus far, and each was only minor, two had been robberies, the other was a domestic incident. They were doing the normal rounds as Kitol looked out the same view port that he had the first day of the trip. The distance travelled was obvious now, as the stars had moved and the star they were headed for was much larger.

Jostol sat at the restraunt eating the small amount of food that he could afford on the main ship. Things had gotten expensive since the normal rations were running low. Some people were getting a bit antsy, but he and his engineer crew were keeping their head. they new another quarter of a year and they would be on a new world, and hopefully meeting a new species at their level. He watched as a squad of arbites walked by and one looked out a porthole nostalgically. He could understand Things would be different when they got there. more farming and less industry for a while.

Pol-teil had sat on her bed reading another book. she had been reading since the first week, mostly the old legends involving the ancients and descriptions of them, but mostly what they had told her race they would find in the stars. She was having a hard time believing other civilized species would be living so close to them. Pol-teil felt that it would be a few more exploratory trips before there could be one, and what were the chances that they would be one of the children. She had to think the chances were low. But for now she would with hold judgement.

The hammer of the Wind slowed as it came into the system. The side ports opened and spilled out with light fighters. They sped ahead as the Ancients gaze pushed on behind them, prepared to fire upon any threats to the scouting party. The worlds of the system were all dead except one... the second world in the series contained large tracts of water, and some signs of life, though there didn't seem to be much of a civilization living on it.

Kitol Was being forced to suppress the zealous crowds as they wanted to go new world. They knew they couldn't until it had been checked, but that did not stop them from rioting about the next delay. Though there were very few arrests they did have to subdue many people to keep order.

Jostol Stood on the command deck of the Ancients Gaze as it approached the world, and watched as it landed in a large plains region. he was not allowed to leave the ship since engineers were reserve crew, but he was left with the job of sending the signal to the habitation fleet saying it was a go for landing of the larger ship.

Pol-teil Having received the signal from the Ancients Gaze ordered the ship be pulled to orbit and the drop ships deployed to take the first set of colonists down. She was to be last, along with her crew they would land the ship near to the new settlement to be used as well as the other technical as supplies to get the colony going. This ship was divided and modular to accommodate such tasks. She would miss this ship but it was half a year she and the others had been cooped up in these three buckets, they all wanted to leave.
