[1 v 1] Sight Without Seeing (Mitsu / Shun)

[Inu-Mitsu]

Mitsu had promised to work with Shun on making up for his lack of vision on his left side and had a few ideas on how to do that. While battle wasn't really her first idea she felt Shun might pick up on it a bit more when pressured to do so. It was about using his hearing instead of relying on his eyes. She knew his hearing wasn't quite the same as her's but she had read about others who had picked up on using hearing and smell to compensate for vision.

Waiting patiently for her reaper to show up Mitsu fidgeted with the items in her hands. She had a couple of things hoping to gradually work him toward learning to perceive the direction that sounds came from. A blind fold to completely shroud his eyes and a bell to tie to her person. Eventually she hoped to lose the bell and work on quieting her steps until he could pick up on the subtlest of noises.

Shun wasn't really sure what to expect from this spar up ahead, but he knew it was going to be a challenge. He had moved around in low light, but moving while blind was different. For that matter, fighting blind was not something he was used to at all.

Once he arrived to the gym, the reaper spotted Mitsu not too far off, where he went to approach. He noticed she had a number of items with her, including a bell tied to herself.

He nodded quietly to her in greeting as he stepped up to where she stood.

"Any stipulations aside from the blindfold?" he asked.  

[Inu-Mitsu]

Mitsu held up the blindfold for him to take. "I want you to first focus on the sound of the bell as I move." The lycan shifted slightly so that the bell gave a soft jingle. No doubt it would be louder when she ran or jumped. "I want you to get used to focusing with your hearing and not with your eyes which is why you'll be blindfolded."

She waited for him to put the blindfold on before taking a few steps back the bell giving way her location until she stood still. "If you seem to do pretty well with the bell I'll eventually lose it and you'll need to focus on my footfalls, breathing, and other subtle noises to find me. After that...obstacles." Though that would be for another day. Right now they needed to focus on this.

Nodding quietly to her, Shun took the blindfold and breathed in slowly. He went on and tied it around his head, making sure it was secure over his good eye. The area was dark all around him now, and his vision was definitely obscured. Once he was all set, he went on into a fighting stance. For now, he decided to go hand to hand as he didn't feel it would make that great of a difference if he were to use his daggers or not, lest he decided to try and pull off a ranged attack.

The reaper didn't say he was ready, but he was waiting, trying to listen for that bell right now.  

[Inu-Mitsu]

"If you're ready then." Mitsu said softly, moving slowly to the side, circling around the reaper. The bell gave a soft jingle as she moved, her hands coming up in a defensive pose. She knew he could probably follow her easy enough now, but when she really started to move she wondered how challenging it would be.

Breathing slowly, Shun listened carefully, trying to gauge where Mitsu was exactly. He heard the soft chime of the bell, and when he did, he turned around to kick out at where he thought she stood. His foot didn't connect with anything this time around. Furrowing his brow, he touched down once more while trying to figure out where she really was.

As soon as Shun stepped toward her he would hear the chime of retreat as she took a leap back to avoid the leg. He hadn't been right on mark but he had been close. "Good, keep listening. Try to focus on the sound and ignore the echo."

She spoke. It was much easier to focus on a voice rather than the bells so Shun turned once more, keeping his left hand rigid to try and strike with a knife hand towards the side of where her neck should be before following up with a punch with his right.

[Inu-Mitsu]

Maybe she was hoping too much that he would find her, or perhaps she shouldn't have opened her mouth. Either way the reaper quickly advanced and Mitsu soon found herself blocking the shot to her neck but taking the full hit of the punch to her left side.

Grunting she staggered back, not saying a word this time. The reaper knew he had done well, he had found her after all. The challenge was taking away the noise, so with only the bell to guide him she started to move, circling around at a faster pace before coming in for a strike with her closed fist aiming at his side to return the favor.

Shun heard a light grunt, and he heard the bell as well. She was still nearby. Most likely, she was going to try a counter attack. He started to try and shift to the side, but he wasn't quite right. Her fist hit him lightly. Unless she moved away really quickly, she should still be within his range.

Shifting forth, he brought a leg up and aimed to get her in the side with the round house.

[Inu-Mitsu]

Springing back the round house kick barely made contact but still managed to graze her before before she was out of range. Rolling to the side, Mitsu tried to make a quick shift in positions coming up to Shun's side to lash out at his arm before trying to retreat again.

Shun turned where he heard a few noises, stepping back. He picked a good time apparently as he just lightly felt her claws graze against his arm. Furrowing his brow, he finally spoke up again.

"You're going easy on me."

It was an assumption. But seeing how she had the advantage, he wasn't getting hit all that much. Soon after he spoke, he lunged forth, aiming several punches ahead of him.

"I'm not trying to hurt you I'm just trying to motivate you to use your other senses." Mitsu said lightly, dodging back as Shun threw a few punches her way. The bell rattled as she moved going silent when she finally grew still. "Are you able to follow the bell? You seem to be finding me fairly well."

"No pain no gain as they say," Shun said. He felt that he would be more motivated if he was taking stronger hits. In any case, he continued to focus on her voice. It was definitely easier to follow that than the bell itself.

"Partially. You also keep speaking." he stated as he lashed out to where he was certain she stood, throwing another kick in her direction.

[Inu-Mitsu]

Jingle Jingle Jingle was the sound of Mitsu hopping away from Shun as he kicked at her again. It was really an unfair advantage to attack him full out at this point but if he thought it would help then she would try.

Darting back around Mitsu picked up speed circling around the reaper to the point it seemed like a few feet she skipped entirely before she changed direction and came back toward him to make a hit aiming a fist at his side once again.
