Ranks
King or Queen The Jini-misemi may be ruled by a lion or a lioness - there is absolutely no gender bias in the pride, from the ruler on down. The ruler is always descended from the royal line, and almost always the son or daughter of the last ruler. The King/Queen is the ultimate authority in the pride, tempered by no official Council or equivalent. They may have unofficial advisors, trusted friends or family they seek the counsel of, but this is purely at their discretion.
They are the primary keeper of the pride's traditions, and oversee/officiate all the significant ceremonies.
Availability: Closed. Meepfur only.
Consort The ruler's official mate - but not necessarily their only one! Depending on the inclinations of the ruler, they're either the only mate or just the favorite. The Consort's duties vary from being a decoration to a confidante to a true partner. Again, it all depends on the King/Queen.
Availability: Closed.
Suitor/Courtesan Any lion/ess who has caught or is trying to catch the eye of the ruler, whether in the interest of becoming Consort or just a lover on the side. Some rulers have these, some do not.
Availability: Open. Requires RP with the Queen. Apply here to declare intent!
Scion The rank for all children of the current ruler.
Availability: Restricted. Automatic for children of the ruler (La'u Khara'i).
Noble An honorary rank given to the siblings of the current ruler, or to someone who has done the pride a great service.
Availability: Restricted. Automatic for litter siblings of the ruler (La'u Khara'i); otherwise, must be gained through an IC act of service to the pride.
Guardian While the pride has no true military, and never will, they have come to the realization that they need a more solid defense than relying on seers to tell them something is about to happen. Guardians are those who know how to fight, a skill most learned in their previous lives as rogues, or while on their pilgrimages. Eventually, Guardians will be formally trained, but for now it's too new a rank.
Availability: Open. Apply here!
Ghost The revival of an old swampie tradition: scaring the hell out of trespassers! Well, only if they want to. Ghosts are adept at camouflaging themselves and moving through the pride's territory unseen and unheard. They keep an eye on the lands and especially on the borders, and often greet newcomers and escort them to a meeting with the Queen - or chase them out, if they're undesirables. They can and sometimes do pretend to be ghosts...it's more fun that way!
Availability: Open. Apply here!
Hunter/Huntress Default rank for all lions who have found/been given their true name.
Availability: Open. Default.
Pilgrim The rank all lions take on upon reaching adolescence, and keep until they return to the pride and announce their new name.
Availability: Open. Default.
Youth Default rank for cubs and juveniles who were born or adopted into the pride.
Availability: Open. Default.
Provisionary The term for any rogue who has joined the pride at adolescent or adult stage, but who has not yet changed their name.
Availability: Open. Requires joining application and roleplay. See joining thread!

Username: Tanakako Lion's Name: Nthanda’kagiso Current Rank: Hunter Desired Rank: Guardian Why does this rank fit your lion?: This is perfect for Nthanda. His whole personality is based on providing protection to friends and family. I believe he also has some firekin blood somewhere in his family tree? From his cub - adult profile: "Nthanda grew up to be about Daima's size, making him a tall male. He didn't inherit all of that side of the family's bulk, but he is a lean, muscular lion well suited to the fight training he loves so much. As a cub he was cheerful and chirpy, constantly wanting to get into trouble like most boys, and he loved to play rough in the mud with his friends. He did chaff a little at just how over-protective Maji could be though he loved his parents deeply and never meant to hurt or worry them, he was just an excitable youngster. As he grew into a young adult he came to understand and accept his father's protectiveness and he in turn wishes to protect his family. He is a kind and caring lion, very polite to his elders (once he grew out of that cubby wilfulness) and patient with the youngsters in the pride. Once he returned after his name quest, he continued his training, and regularly gives his time to help train any youngsters who wish to learn, how to defend themselves before going outside of the swamp lands on their own naming quests. "
Username: Tanakako Lion's Name: Szürke Szellem Current Rank: Hunter Desired Rank: Ghost Why does this rank fit your lion?: While he is perfectly able to defend himself in a fight, he has an aversion to strong emotions of any kind and anger is one of those that he tends to actively avoid, but which fighting quickly brings out in him. A pacifist by necessity due to his own lack of trust in his own ability to control himself, he avoids openly hostile situations. But he is far from a social lion and will be haunting the outer areas of the pride anyway, so why not take a rank where his natural behavior will benefit the pride.
