Welcome to the RP Contest! The stakes are high, but the end result may prove quite.....rewarding.
Please, make yourself comfortable and enjoy your stay! The following event will feature cubs born onto the Ashnai'le pride. This pride is not known for its kindness, and to survive here is to walk a very thin line. Currently under the rule of a tyrannical king, only one hope glimmers through the daily fears. The whispered prophecy of a new heir, born for the sole purpose of correcting the balance of rulership. But to speak of this prophecy condemns one of mutiny, and so the pride struggles against itself. The House of Tama and the House of Atmaja, pitted against each other and looked on by the ruthless King. Lust of power versus the hope of freedom, what will be the future of the pride? However.... among that struggle, hidden at the edge of the pride, can be heard the mewls of new life. For further information on the pride, please follow the image link above. n_n

The Family![ Father ][ Banqou ] A Scholar of the Suka'Fumo, Banquo spends his days teaching the older kids. Most of the time, he's a stone-faced grump who doesn't show a lot of emotion. He used to be a strong and ambitious individual before he lost his first mate/cubs and now he's fallen into a state of apathy. He's drawn to individuals of bright colors and bright personalities (usually males) and it's kind of ironic that he ended up in one of the most cheerful and fun prides out there. He's currently taking a short trip to the rogue lands so he can learn more about prides, Gods and the current wars and alliances so that he can bring that knowledge back to the S'F. He'll be a very awkward but fiercely protective father to any cub that stays with him. [ Mother ][ Ibis ] Ibis is one steel magnolia- with both her strength, insight, and wisdom guiding her actions, she is a force to be reckoned with. Having been born and raised in the rough Ashnaile pride (House of Atmaja), she knows the cycle of hope and how it tends to go up and down at its own pace. Therefore, she has taken a nearly pessimistic view on life around her and better estimates what is worth spending her time and energy on. When it comes to survival, it goes to the fittest. Being a new mother and knowing the gamble of bringing cubs into the pride will strain her, but she will sacrifice everything to ensure her cubs happiness. She (along with a secret ally) despises the tyrant king, but she does well to hide her opinions from others. [ Brother ][ Nouri ] (If in the Ashnai'le) - serious because his life is constantly in danger and he needs to grow up fast and not worry his mother. He uses goofiness to cheer her up. (If in the Suka'Fumo) - serious because dad is a grumpybutt and so he tries to act mature and responsible. Goofiness doesn't work too well on his father but he tries to cheer him up nonetheless. [ Brother ][ Taylin ] A neutral sort of boy, Taylin doesn't get easily excitable or depressed. Although he does fall victim to narcolepsy, so for individuals that do not know him well he can easily appear lazy. While he does love a good scuffle every now and then, Taylin most enjoys observing the ways of nature. It is this curiosity that encourages him to someday become a healer, using elements of nature to help those around him.

The Cubs to Win![ Black Tiger ] [ White Tiger ] RP Prompts: 1. Since day one, your mother has taught you how to roam quietly and stay hidden in the bushes, both day and night. And she doesn't hesitate to remind you that failure to do this will be very dangerous. One day while mother is out on a hunt, you are given a turn to stand guard at the den and watch your brothers. How do you feel about this responsibility, and how well do you handle the situation? 2. You're an adolescent now, and the day has come where you and your siblings are finally spotted by another pride member. And not just any member, but one of the King's guards, a Ligi. Your mother tries to ward off the individual, but he forcibly shoves her aside to get a better look at the hidden litter. How do you respond to his taunts and behavior, knowing he could easily report the whole situation to the king? 3. Create a prompt of your own! 8D Entry Form!: I am writing for: [Black] [White] Tiger! Cub Name: Personality Blurb: Prompt Reply:

I am writing for: [White] Tiger! Cub Name: Matumaini (Swahili for "Hope") Personality Blurb: Matumaini is a stocky, sturdy fellow who is very fond of his little family. He is a loving, plucky, cheery young lad and though he has the promise of growing up big and strong, notable by his large paws, no thing is certain in the Ashnai'le lands. Matumaini is slow to anger and soft spoken, being the sort to weigh his words before he lets them out, knowing nothing said can ever truly be taken back, though he will not hesitate to fight if he needs to protect his mother or brothers. Though he isn't the oldest, he likes to act like he is and he likes to pretend that he isn't afraid of anything, though that is a lie. He acts that way in hopes that one day it will be true, but he is deeply worried about the king and his ligi killing his mother and brothers, which often induces nightmares. Because of this, he doesn't sleep well, which can impair his judgement. Prompt Reply:
Momma always said to lay low and stay quiet. The world was dangerous, particularly their little patch of the world, but he never truly understood. Sure, he did as she said, he'd not dream of disobeying his mother... Plus he wasn't exactly the sort who wanted to get his rear swatted for misbehaving. The shame that went with it and the disappointment in his mother's eyes would have been enough to dissuade him from just about anything. Still, he never understood just why it was so dangerous. Cubs had predators, of course, but what made their home worse? He wondered this frequently, but he didn't have to wait too terribly long to find out just what made his mother so cautious.
The young adolescent clung near his mother's heels, feeling safe and snug between his brothers, when a massive male passed by. He shrank back, unsure of himself or what would occur, given the fact that he had never seen another, outside of his family. His heart thudded and he took a step back as the male moved closer.
"Quiet." He whispered as softly as he could to the nearest bundle of fur, though he feared being heard himself. His heart was beating so loudly. Surely the male would hear it.
"What's this we've got here, then?" He was a big, dark fellow and his eyes seemed to be as sharp as cut glass.
"Oh, nothing, nothing! Say, I think I caught sight of a plump antelope earlier, wouldn't it be a nice tribute for the king?" He'd never heard his mother speak in that manner before. She sounded strange and not like herself at all. He pressed himself closer to the ground. For the first time in his life, he was truly afraid.
"I've not smelled anything. What is that behind you, lioness." His words were harder, his eyes sharper as he stood taller to see behind her. She was quick to match him, shoving herself between him and her precious offspring. Each attempt to see past her was rebuffed with her bulk and he was growing impatient.
"Stand aside. I said STAND ASIDE." He struck her with his shoulder, sending her to one side, so that he could see the four little males, huddled together. Matumaini peered up at the dark solider, his emerald eyes as round as saucers. The male had shoved his mother, hurt his mother, but he was too small to do anything about it. He wanted to run to her, but he was rooted to the spot by fear of what would happen should he move.
"Just a bunch of worthless mouthes to feed. You're wasting the land's prey on this pathetic lot? When there are older, stronger lions in our garrison that need to be fed? Bah." He spat in disgust.
"I wanna be in your garrison. I wanna be a big 'n strong ligi like you, so I c'n pruh'tect our king." The words left Matumaini's mouth before he realized just what he was saying. It was instinctive, a desperate attempt to protect himself and his loved ones, though he was unsure if it would work. Words were all he had and this lion could easily kill, if he so chose to do so. Fear could be one's strongest ally.
The little adolescent's words caught him off guard. That wasn't the response he usually got. It was always fear, pathetic mewling for lives to be spared, that sort of thing. Cubs had been rooted out and systematically killed, after all. Amusement was obvious on the older ligi's features as he took a second look at the four little bundles. Maybe they weren't so tiny. They were growing fast. The honesty and determination on the white one's face was enough to make him smile, despite his earlier decision to kill them.
"Well. If you're gonna be a great, big ligi instead of some worthless runt, you'd better start training. We don't have time for worthless runts and they definitely can't defend our king." Humored, he took his leave, turning tail to bother some other members of the pride.

I am writing for: [Black] Tiger! Cub Name: Medhi Personality Blurb: Medhi is an easily irritated little cub. Frustrated with the danger of his and his siblings' situation, he loses his temper often and about rather silly things. He attempts to boss his siblings around as a way of coping with the lack of security he feels, but he means well and only wants him and his siblings to survive. Medhi is a very intelligent cub, despite the hasty reactions of his stressed-out temper tantrums, and enjoys learning new things about others and the world, though he tends to focus on learning things that he thinks could prove useful in keeping himself and his brothers alive. Prompt Reply: Prompt 1.
Mother was away again. Her absence alone put Medhi in a foul temper, because her presence made him feel a little safer, even if he and his siblings were in just as much danger with her there as when she was away. It was just... nice knowing that his mother was around to try and protect them from the Bad Things that could happen to incautious cubs. But she wasn't here right now, and Medhi was supposed to be watching his siblings.
Only they weren't making this easy!
Growling to himself, Medhi stamped a paw to try and get his scuffling brothers' attention. They needed to listen to him, and they needed to listen now! Failure might mean Bad Things, after all, and he knew what they needed to do. "Everybody listen up!" He said, pitching his voice just loud enough to be heard over the growls of playful combat. When there was no response immediately, he growled under his breath and tried again.
"Everybody, listen!" This time he thought he noticed a twitch of an ear, so, taking that as a sign of a receptive audience, he continued. "Mom's placed me in charge for now so - so you all have to do what I say!" Golden eyes lit up with excitement at the responsibility before him, and Medhi continued speaking, losing himself in his little 'speech'.
"You have t' be quiet, okay? Be quiet and - and no noisy playing just sit down and be good until Mom gets back. And no arguing with me because I'm in charge, and - and what I say goes! I'm the boss and I'm goin' t' pr'tec't you all and that means listenin' t' me while I'm in charge!" Pausing to take a deep breath and prepare to launch into another round of his impromptu speech, Medhi noticed that his brothers were staring - not at him, but at the area where he was supposed to be standing guard.
Nervous now and vaguely aware of the fact that he had deserted his post, Medhi turned and glanced over his shoulder, but there wasn't anything there. The next thing he knew, one of his siblings had pounced on him and another was trotting over to the position he had vacated, presumably to keep an eye out where Medhi had failed.
"Hey! Get offa me! No, that's my job get off, this isn't faaaaaaiiiiiir!" Well, he tried to voice his complaints in such a manner, but it was a bit difficult to do so when someone's paw was stuffed in your mouth. Instead, all that really came out was a long and garbled sentence that sounded vaguely like "Mpfffohpfmphpffufffaaaaa!"
...Maybe he wasn't ready to be in charge of guarding everybody yet. Not if he couldn't get his siblings to listen to him!
Or for that matter, to stop sitting on him.

I am writing for: [Black]Tiger! Cub Name: Jasiri - brave in Swahili Personality Blurb: True to his name, Jasiri is brave and courageous as the day is long. Unfortunately, he can't quite tell the difference between someone that needs help or someone that simply wants to be left alone. He constantly tries to 'save' his brothers from bugs and dangerous looking rocks, practicing his roar whenever he can. When he grows up his bravery and courage will only intensify and, unless he is taught the difference between bravery and foolishness, he might find himself in serious trouble. A stern and structured young life will help keep his paws on the right path, though, and given the chance, he could turn into an unstoppable warrior. Prompt Reply: Prompt 2
No one ever messed with his family without feeling his wrath. When he was a cub, Jasiri had quickly eaten up any bugs that had dared crawl on his brothers, roared - or more accurately, squeaked - at any leaf that fell in their protected den, and scratched up dangerous trees. No one crossed his path without feeling his tooth and claw! As he had grown he had learned that not everything was out to get them. Mother had show them how to wait and see if something was dangerous, and when to determine if they should attack or run. But to Jasiri, running was never an option. He could take on any opponent!
And now was no different. There was a strange lion here, and he had pushed Mother aside. That was not allowed. No one touched Mother like that and got away with it! He waited with his brothers in their den, growling quietly, crouched and ready to attack. He was big - not that he had ever seen a lion any larger than Mother, of course - and his sneering ways were far too annoying. He deserved to be put in his place!
With a roar he lept forward, claws out and teeth bared. The next second he was on the ground, seeing stars. A massive paw had swatted him clean out of the air! Stunned and dazed, Jasiri tried to stand, but he stumbled into the wall of the den and returned to a laying position. There were two of the lions now, and both of them were laughing at him. He snarled and tried to lunge again, but he tripped over his own paws and fell at the feet of the huge beast. He felt that same paw rest against his head, and pressure began to increase, oh why did it hurt so much...
Suddenly it was gone. Mother's familiar snarl and angry voice came from somewhere above him. He closed his eyes in shame. How could he not protect Mother and his brothers? He was a failure, surely...he needed to practice his technique. He ended up passing out and, when he woke, the big lion was gone. The danger had passed for the moment, but he vowed to practice and get better so he could protect his mother and siblings if that big brute ever came back.

I am writing for: [Black] Tiger! Cub Name: Kurojaki [Black Demon ; Devil] Personality Blurb: Kuro's an agreesive little devil. His name matches his personality perfectly. He is always on the move, wanting to learn more about survival tactics of hunting and fighting to be the best that he could potentially be - The Chosen One. He fits his pride's name - not known for his kindness. He is rarely seen friendly, always wanting the best for himself. Like his father, Banquo, he is stern and is strong and ambitious, just avoiding the idea of settling down until he's proven himself. Nothing is enough until he is the best of the best which is what he is living for. He is not a coward though. In battles, he would not be the one to strike first. First watch the opponent's moves to learn their experience and then attack, where he'd only flee to save his pride. Like his mother, Ibis, Kuro believes that survival goes to the fittest, which is why he rarely spends time with others, but busy training himself. Prompt Reply: He looked around. Ibis was gone on her daily hunt. Why could she allow him to join her? After all, he should be out there - with her to make sure that she would too be alright. No. He was left with his other three brothers. None were as aggressive as he. Mother said to remain quiet and to guard the den, and I guess that's what I'd have to do. So he sat, waiting for his mother's return. Unlike the pride tradition that his mother told him about eating rituals, he would always defend his mother, making sure that she would be the first to take the bite of prey. It was her who was watching over the others, after all. His ears flicked forth. There was a rabbit nearby. Shaking his head, Kuro tried to fight off the temptation of attempting a hunt. Further the rabbit leapt, but he could not spare it. Springing out of the bushes he went, leaving the den. He encountered a lion - no... a lioness - Ibis. Thankfully it was her. "Kuro! What are you doing?! Get back to guarding the den!" she snarled. And so he left, back to duty, trying to forget about seeing the world outside the bushes.
I am writing for: [White] Tiger! Cub Name: Tyga Personality Blurb: Tyga is not one that you would want to be near. He's rude and inconsiderate. He believes that males are the ones superior and would not hesitate to bring any female's esteem down - especially his mother. He blames her for not seeing their father, which is his only desire. Prompt Reply: Oh those filthy b*******. How dare they come over to look at him. Teeth baring he knew the dangers that this guard could do. He could possibly demand the death of him and his family. Rolling his eyes, he looked at his mother. A failure in life. The one who wanted them to stay hidden, but couldn't hide them herself. A disgrace. "You... stay away from me." he growled in warning. The guard still came closer. "I SAID, STAY AWAY!" he couldn't take it anymore. "You guard lions are so worthless! Always thinking that you can do whatever you want just because you have the power to? Well, you're in MY lands now! So back off before my friends and I kill you." his eyes were filled with craziness and Tyga grew to have the fond taste of blood and murder between his own paws.

I am writing for: [Black] Tiger! Cub Name: Eytan Personality Blurb: He is a strong, roughhousing male who likes to get in trouble Prompt Reply: 2- As the pride member that was a stranger to them comes closer, his siblings are terrified but not you. You block him from his path and protect your siblings from him. As the stranger smirked, he was picked up by the stranger and carried away, until Eytan swatted him right in the muzzle with his claws. Running back, he quickly gathered his siblings and mother and had them run quickly, trying to get away while he was yowling in pain. In a corner, he finally got them all into safety and claimed the rank as hero to them.
I am writing for: [White] Tiger! Cub Name: Aure Personality Blurb: He can be strong but is a softy to everything though does what he is told. Prompt Reply: 1- while mother was on the hunt, he had his turn guarding. He was doing well, keeping them in while watching. It was a whole day till mother returned and from that, Aure stopped guarding and was okay for a cub.

I am writing for: [Black] Tiger! Cub Name: Runako Personality Blurb: Growing up in hiding and seclusion with only his brothers and mother to keep him company, Runako has learned what it means to fend for one self. The balance between laying low and fighting back. When to be brave and when to run away. He values his family dearly, considering himself close to all of his brothers and mother. He tries his best to do his part in the family, even if it means making a personal sacrifice. Since he's growing up in a family of all boys, mother not included, he's very awkward around girls and doesn't know how to deal with them. Growing up outside of a pride also means he has a lack of knowledge in social behavior. His goals are to survive and protect his family, and he'll use his own means to accomplish them.
Prompt Reply: Prompt #2
"Mom!" Runako shouted as he saw his mother getting shoved aside while trying to protect them. The young black lion rushed to his mother's side, making sure she was okay. But the taunts and sneers of the king's guard didn't go unnoticed. His ears folded back and he leveled a glare on who he considered an intruder. King's guard or not, he had no right to just barge in and bully them around!
Ducking his head, Runako growled lowly at the guard. "Leave us alone! We… we could take you ya know. There's more of us than there are of you!" He glanced at his brothers, hoping to persuade them of such. If they were to work together, they could get rid of this guy so that he couldn't report back to the King. It might have been an ambitious endeavor, and they were still kinda small, but they could do it! Right? If it meant protecting the family, he was willing to give it a try.
And… even if his brothers were too scared, he would protect them! At least long enough for them to escape. Even if he died trying, it would be worth it. He made his decision, and whether or not the others joined, Runako made a leap for their antagonist. Claws bared and teeth flashing, he attacked the guard, come what may.

I am writing for: [Black] Tiger!
Cub Name: Rudra
Personality Blurb: Rudra is a brave little cub who takes it upon himself to protect those around him. Fearless, he will be the first to sacrifice himself for someone he loves. He recognizes the constant danger around him and has seen first-hand some of the cruelties the Ligi have brought down onto unsuspecting, innocent people. His mother’s constant reminders of the danger they live in have sunk in, causing him to very quiet and sneaky, often times slipping away without being noticed only to ghost back later. He enjoys exploring but tries to measure it with safety, and only goes when he is sure he can get there and back safely.
Though the cubs first responses to strangers or in the face of danger will often times be icy silence, if prompted correctly, he will speak his mind with little measure as compared to his usually carefully chosen words. When amongst friends and family, when he feels safe, Ru is a sweet, loving, if not protective cub that will chatter and pounce for fun. He values his family and tries to find some good even though things around him are so very wrong.
Prompt Reply: Is a mixture of both prompts given! So 3.
It was a big responsibility. It was a bit frightening, too, but the adolescent refused to let it show on his face. It wasn’t the first time he had this duty and it likely wouldn’t be the last. In truth, it had always been rather uneventful. Mother left for a time, did what she needed to do, and returned with minimal incident. Occasionally the brothers would scuffle or argue but there had never been any real danger.
Still, it was something Rudra took seriously and he lay near the mouth of the den, just out of sight, but able to see. His tail flicked as he surveyed the land in front of him with a serene expression on his face. The quiet was calming, the weather fair, if a young adolescent weren’t careful, his mind could easily wander…
It was because of that false sense of security that the sounds of approaching paws padding on the ground escaped his ears and only when the sight of his mother broke him from his thoughts did he jump up on his feet, a grin sliding across his face to see her home safe and sound. But something looked…wrong. She looked upset. There was someone behind her.
Ru’s eyes went wide and his stomach dropped. Ligi.
They were still a good distance out…Maybe he could warn the brothers. The adolescent scurried back into the den, barking out a quiet warning. “Stay put! Stay quiet!” he ordered, snarling just a bit in an attempt to prove that he meant it. He wasn’t sure what he was doing but he was acting fast. He didn’t leave them any chance to respond.
The little lion darted out from the den and towards his mother, much to her obvious dismay. Though she tried to stay between the two Ligi and her cub, they shoved her aside, smirking the whole time. They wanted to get a better look at the little boy.
Rudra darted between the Ligi and his mother, snarling at the one that had shoved her down. His anger only seemed to amuse the full grown lion and he chuckled, slowly stepping closer to the mother and son.
“Stop!” Ru commanded with the deepest voice he could muster, hair standing on end, tail rigid with fear and anger. His eyes burned with a wild intensity. He had no idea what he was doing anymore but so long as they stayed away from the den, away from the brothers…
“Well look at what we have here. So...brave," he taunted condescendingly, "So this is what she was trying to protect,” the other one sneered from behind him, eyeing the awkward, gangly adolescent who responded with a guttural growl that resonated in his throat. “Look at this tiny little thing. What a waste of good food. Good flesh. Just to fuel this scrawny weakling," the first agreed, a chuckle in his throat.
Though he wanted to snarl back, to assure the two lions he was not weak, Rudra knew he would be no match for the two of them in a fight, and the more he disrespected them, the more danger he put his mother in. Still the two laid on insults which he bore, keeping eye contact with the lion closest to him and his mother but not moving, not backing down no matter how close the lion got to him.
Soon they were face to face and the Ligi smirked down at him, his eyes going from Rudra to his mother, “I wonder just who this whore slept with to make a runt such as yourself…”
He could no longer contain himself. Could no longer take the abuse. Most of all he wanted to take the attention away from his mother and upon himself. If he just kept their interest, maybe she would be safe...
“DON’T SPEAK ABOUT HER THAT WAY!” Rudra roared, surprising the Ligi in front of him. A look of shock crossed his features but was chased away by anger and before Ru knew what was happening, he felt a slap across his face so forceful it bowled him over, making him dizzy as the plains spun around him.
The Ligi walked past the adolescent and got in the mother’s face, snarling as he did, teeth bared.
“Teach your runt some manners,” he hissed, “unless you want him to go missing…”
As the Ligi stalked away, they moved past Rudra, slapping him one final time before they left, tails swishing in anger despite the smug way they walked.
Pain lit up the side of Rudra’s face and he wanted to cry out to his mother but he refused, knowing they would hear him. His body shook with fear and anger as the last of his adrenaline began to dump into his stomach, making him nauseous. His heart began to beat painfully in his chest, resonating in his head. The world was still spinning but the Ligi…They were leaving. They didn’t know about his brothers. Mother was okay. That was all that mattered.
