Azar knew that she could always find a friend in one lion. No matter how mad or aggravated or upset, no matter what was happening. It wasn't even her mate it was easy to get mad him, then again she was pretty sure that was what came along with being mates with some one. That wasn't really what mattered any way, to her anyway, right now there was so much going on and she wasn't even sure what to do any more. Her main problem was that she felt like every time she turned around she was hearing whispers about her, or her family should have nothing to do with the battles because of their connection to Nur'yu. She could understand the concern of the others but yet it was starting to annoy her.
She wasn't exactly over the death of her son, she didn't think that she could ever be honestly. She was pretty sure that it was impossible to get over the death of some one that you loved fully. She was pretty sure that forever she would have a spot in her heart for her dead son. But she wanted to get on with everything that was going on because she was starting to get more and more frustrated. She wanted to fight and she wanted to be treated like she normally did. She wanted to be treated like the Brigadier that she was. She knew what she was doing and she knew how to fight. She did want revenge but at the same time she knew how to control herself. She knew how to fight and she knew how to not run out into a battle for herself. She hadn't had the chance to really prove that, it was her first time showing she knew what she was doing and showing what to do and of couse she felt like everyone was getting in her way. She knew what she was going to be doing now. She knew who she wanted to talk to and maybe get some of this frustration out.
"Dad?" She asked as she pushed her nose into the very familiar den. She knew it very well she spent her childhood here and it was early she had no idea if her mom was going to she was pretty sure that her father was there at the moment.

A soft call broke him from his thoughts and drew him back to the land of the living, away from his dark troubles that threatened to keep him awake each and every night. Never before had being a regent been so hard. So much to do. So much to organise. And, on top of all of that, the threats of drought and war. At least he was never stuck with nothing to do.
Kidondo pulled himself to his paws, stretched each leg in turn, and then padded out to greet his daughter, a soft rumble at his throat as he extended his head out to bump his forehead against hers.
"Azar." He rumbled, moving out under the sun and allowing the warmth to creep in through his fur and take the chill of the den out from his bones. The nights seemed to have been colder recently. Or perhaps it was just his imagination. "Is everything okay?" The question was asked warily, as if unsure whether he would like the answer or not. This was Azar, too. His beautiful daughter who had suffered great loss.
Was it even possible for everything to be okay any more?

Azar looked at her father and let out a small sigh of relief, she was happy to see him she was happy to know he was here because she knew that he would take to her and make her feel better. She knew that for a fact. She knew that no matter what happened her father was there for her always. With his question though she didn't know what to say almost. She was kind of cluess, she wasn't okay but she wasn't sure if she just wanted to start off the conversation with that. "Hello dad." She answered at first as she walked over to him and she bumped heads, her normal and friendly greeting to her father.
"Not really." She flopped down on her haunches frustratedly. She looked toward her father and shook her head. "I feel like no one is taking me seriously." She half growled before looking athim. "I know I have a loss and yeah it makes me angry and makes me want to hurt the killers." She gritted her teeth for a moment at the idea. "But I have a job to do and everyone is keeping me from it!" She huffed at the idea she hated it really she had that job for areason.

"I see." He replied carefully, moving past to sit across from her, casting his gaze out across the desert before it settled back on her. She was dark and fierce and beautiful and he could not have been prouder of her.
"You have anger in you." He knew it because he had had it too. It was probably still there if he scratched away at it enough. "For every pain we suffer we become stronger. We must use it as motive. Use it to fuel our claws and strengthen our shield." He paused, his whiskers puckering in thought. "You are strong and worthy. You would not have risen through the ranks if you were not. Come, Azar, show them you are strong. Show all of them."
He smiled. "Will you duel with me whilst we talk?" It had been a long time since he had sparred.

She glanced at her father, she wasn't that sure of what he was going to say. She was hoping that he wasn't going to be another one of those lions that as everyone else, would just cast judgement on her and say that she was not fit for what she wanted to do. She was hoping that he wouldn't be another that would say that she was too upset for her job and that she shouldn't be able to do it. But yet when her father started to speak she was a little surprised, yet she wasn't at the same time. With the way that everyone else was acting she didn't think that he was going to be understanding. But as she thought about it She knew that her father was going to be a nice and understanding. She loved her father dearly. She felt like he rarely judged her. She felt like she should have known it was her father and mother who choose to give her that job that she had.
"I do." she admitted she wasn't going to hide it, she was very angry and she wanted to hurt the ones that had killed her son. Nur was a special lion and he deserved so much more. He deserved a life that was full of a future and that was fully of happiness and children that were just as happy as he was.
her attention turned back to her father and she smirked, it was followed by a laugh, she couldn't help it she as very interested in what her father wanted to do. "Really?" She laughed once again before nodding to her father. "I don't see why not." She said simply she wasn't that sure of what it was going to do but she was up for it that was for sure. She never really turned down a duel.

"Very good." He exclaimed. "Just promise to go easy on me. These old bones won't be able to take too much of a beating." He chuckled then and was surprised at how foreign the feeling of a smile was on his face. The realisation had him sobering again, though he shook the thought away and loped across the sand a few paces before turning to face her.
"Nur'yu was of our blood. Our family is large. So long as we live, Nur'yu never truly dies."
He pawed at the sand beneath him and then flattened it and settled into a strong stance. "And we don't plan on dying, do we?"

1 - Bide
Azar's attention turned toward her father and she watched him get into the stance for a duel. the smile grew on her lips as she watched her father get ready for the duel. She paused and took a second before shaking her head, a laugh coming out as she did. "Sure dad, take it easy." She teased back jokingly a smile was on her face, she couldn't help it. She knew that he dad would be fine as she fought him. She knew that her dad was getting older yet she knew that her dad had no problem taking her on.
She positioned herself too before nodding at her father. "He is always with us." She agreed before listening to what her father had to say next, she was a little upset by that one but she didn't mind at the same time. "Better not!" She responded quickly to him. she really didn't want anyone else to die. She hated the idea of it really.

"That's good. We're survivors, Azar. We always have been and we always will. No matter the hardship, we persevere. We claim victory. It is a pattern that is repeated. A plague. A rebellion. A drought. A war. Hardship comes and each time we rise from the ashes, stronger than ever before."
And with that last word, Kidondo lunged for her, intending to strike hard and fast. A good duel was what they both needed, perhaps. To beat out that anger and rekindle the fires that fatigue and frustration had worked to stamp out. He already felt the adrenaline pumping through his veins. Already started to feel more alive. He had pushed off of the sand and now he was flying, his face set with determination as his forepaws reached out to push her down.
But his first strike would not hit its mark.

Azar listened to her father and then nodded in agreement. "We are firekin." She said simply in response to him. She felt like that was almost all that was needed to be said. They were firekin it ran though their blood. It was something that they all had, even some rogues had it. Although not in their veins it was running through their spirit and that was good enough. That was still a firekin, she knew that there were some that disagreed but yet at the same time she didn't care. A firekin was firekin. And there was one thing for sure and her father and herself were both firekin for sure. There really wasn't any argument about it.
"I'm sure we can last through anything at this point." She half chuckled and before she got the chance to say anything else she turned her attention toward her father and she found him launching himself t her. She braced herself and tried to pick up her paws as quickly as she could to move away from him. It worked but it threw her off to a point. She extended her paws out to slap her father's side but as she did she found herself missing it. she growled as her feet touched the ground. She then turned toward her father not sure if she should say something or prepare herself for another hit.

Pleased that she already seemed to be strengthening her resolve, Kidondo dug in his heels and swung his body to evade her attack, sending up a great plume of sand that cast like a wave in the wind. The gold of their surroundings was intense against their red and black fur.
"You're quicker than you were." He complimented, feeling his muscles complain at moving so sharply. "Either that or I'm slowing down. I prefer the former." He smiled gently and shifted back to face her, strengthening his stance once more and lowering into a crouch.
"How does the rest of the family fair since...since Nur'yu's passing?" There had been a mix of emotions initially. Silence. Anger. Grief. But with the passing of time were any of those wounds closing up?

Azar laughed and turned toward her dad. "I don't know! You're probably getting slower." She said playfully winking at him. It seemed like her dad, no matter what age she was, seemed to know what made her smile and laugh and feel better. That made her feel better and smile and laugh. To her this was a good cycle. She watched as her father stood and she found herself with a good shot, she launched herself forward extending a paw to his flank. "Ha!" She siad as she felt contact before tkaing a moment and responding. "I see a lot of anger from everyone still." she sighed and then though once again "Kakek still seems to be taking it hard but Nur passed by his side so I understand."

He tried to evade - but too late - and he felt the sharp, brief contact as her paw connected with his shoulder. He allowed the attack to shove him sideways and put a moment of distance between them, shaking vigorously to try and loosen up. "That is understandable, but Kakek should take comfort from it, too. He knows his brother did not go alone."
His eyes grew solemn. The Firekin were at war now. War bred death. There would be others lost before the end. It was inevitable no matter how hard and brave they fought.
"I hope they can turn that anger into action." But not let it rule them, he thought to himself. "I do not know what awaits us after we have gone." Kidondo continued. "But Nur'yu still lives within all of us." And on that note, Kidondo set his hind paws deep into the sand and charged forwards, reaching up with a paw to attempt a strike against his daughter.

She thought about what her father had to say. Her father had seen this kind of fighting happen for a while. Because of that she wasn't that sure of what to say to him. But she took in what he was saying. She really wasn't that sure of it. She flicked her tail around before nodding at him. "He is in all of us." She said letting the words sink in, she was trying to figure it out. Let it sink in and consider it. She always liked what her father had to say always liked what her father had to say. It always made her feel better. But as her mind shuffled around and she thought about various things she missed as he rfather came her way. She felt the huge paw hit her side and she stumbled back, as almost a reaction she reached out her paw and missed her father's side she needed to focus and she knew she did.

He dodged the attack and began to circle again, nodding sagely. "He is." And what more was to be said of that? Kidondo did not know what happened after death. All he knew was that he had to make the most of the time he had here in this one. Nur'yu, at least, had had a short but fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends.
"You can do your duty, my daughter." He declared then, settling his weight evenly on his paws. "You are of my blood. You are Firekin. When time comes to cast judgement you will be there. Just realise you are not alone. We will all stand beside you."

Azar had been pretty distracted the entire duel. She enjoyed dueling with her fatehr but at the same time she enjoyed spending her time with her father that was more important, so even though it was close but she still lost, either way she was pretty happy with what had just happened she was feeling better and now everything was okay. "Thank you dad." She said with a smile still on her face, she paused then before flicking her tail around behind her and then nodding at her father. "I just hope that all of the criticism slows down." She wasn't that sure of what else to say but that was someshint on her mind she just wanted it to stop.
