A pale cheetah was sitting in a tall rock formation and her pure white coat looked almost dull as she looked at the dark clouds that formed a heavy blanket over the salty water surface – sea, they called it.
Norolim was about to turn back and go back the way she’d come. She very much disliked this cloudy weather. The feisty wind that carried the scent of lions, the undrinkable water, the rocks, all this unpleasant grey. It seemed the furthest she was from home, the more horrible everything became but the young girl had no intention of going back that far. No, no, no… she wanted to return to the grand open landscape she had been exploring ever since leaving her pride, that place that was not her home anymore.

Njal was not the smartest lion around, but he knew how to take a hint. he also quite liked pleasing his wife, which is why he took some time this day to head out to the borders and check out a lead Akatta had given him. A cheetah, was it? It had taken him a bit of looking, but he did finally spot the white-furred female down by the beach.
He wasn't used to seeing such lightly built felines, and amused himself with the idea that the wind might blow her away if she stood up. But cheetah were famously fast, and he knew better than to simply try and chase her down. So even though he was a large lion, Njal tried his best to not look intimidating as he walked through the sands and approached. "Hello!" He greeted, casually enough.

It was a windy and unpleasant day but even Norolim realized she should’ve noticed the approaching lion sooner – though, in her defense, parts of the dark lion seemed to be made of the same rock that they stepped on. While he was an interesting-looking feline, the white cheetah wasn’t particularly fond of lions. Out of all felines, they seemed to the ones who failed to grasp just how inferior they were when compared to the elegant and swift cheetah race and they were usually the ones who reacted the worst when she tried to explain that obvious fact to them. They seemed to think their size meant they were somehow better and it was somewhat difficult to contest that claim when they were willing to use it against you.
This one, however, looked like he might understand how superior cheetahs were if she explained things slowly. He seemed polite enough, for starters.
“Good…” she paused, looking at the sky with a frown. Her tone was distant and cautiously polite but she did not bother to stand up. “… afternoon, I think. Is there a pride nearby?”

Oh, good. Perhaps he had managed a chatty one. Those were probably easier to catch. You could just talk them up and pounce at the most opportune moment! And he probably wouldn't even need to damage her, which was ideal. He just had to keep up the friendly guy act up a bit longer. Admittedly, Njal might have a bit of trouble with that, but he'd manage.
"Yes there is. But you don't need to worry about that." He smiled as pleasantly as he could, and sat down a respectful distance away. "Nice to meet you! I'm Njal."

Ah, so there was a pride. Thankfully, it didn’t seem to be one of those rude places that chased everyone away – some lions had actually dared to chase her away once! – so she wouldn’t have to start running now. When the dark lion sat down, most of her caution instantly vanished and she finally stood up and faced the other feline as she openly appraised him. She actually took one step closer to lion, head held high.
“I am Norolim.” She told the lion in a dignified tone. “Are you from a pride that accepts all feline species?” That would explain his ease around her.

This was turning out to be very amusing to Njal, and he almost laughed. Almost! even he managed to hold it back when it would spoil his fun. But the way she seemed so confident just coming closer to him, and the question! All he could do was nod his head.
"Yes, you could say that." He agreed. In some shape or form. He supposed it depended on one's definition of accept! "How about you? Just out on your own?" Just to make sure she had no family members to come about and bother them later.

Norolim wasn’t very good at picking up little shifts in expressions but she did think she saw some form of happiness or amusement in the lion. Hopefully, he wasn’t growing too interested in her because she would never consider a marriage outside her species. Her noble blood mixed with that of a common lion, the thought alone was revolting.
“I am glad you are not from a pride like the one I approached a few days ago. They actually dared to chase me away, if you can believe that. I had a pride once but not anymore.” her nose twitched when she realized he hadn’t given her a name in return though he asked her a rather personal thing. Now that was just rude! “Can you point me in the direction of water that is not salty?” There was no point in continuing this conversation. She might be slightly curious about the type of cheetahs that would live amongst the lower cats but not enough to actually go and visit them.

"Oh, you won't have to worry about being chased away here." Actually, perhaps she should be worrying about the opposite! He wondered what sort of foolish creature this was. Though Njal was on his best behavior, could he possibly look that welcoming?
And she was asking for water. "I can do you better than point you! I can show you, I might as well head that way myself." He really could use a drink. But he'd probably end up doing that later, after he got this Norolim all proper and caught and Thrall'd.

He was offering himself as her escort…? Well, obviously, this was a lion who knew his place. Still, she wasn’t quite sure sshe liked that idea. It hadn’t been hers, after all and she didn’t like others dictating her actions.
“Pointing me in the right direction is more than enough.” She said haughtily, slowly walking past the lion. It finally dawned one her how big he was when compared to her lithe frame but even then she was not terribly worried. She wasn’t even looking at him straight now, more like glancing over him as she examined her surrounding once again.

"Alright. If you're sure." Hmm, oh well. Njal found now it was done playing mr. courteous! Her first mistake had been walking past him so slowly, her second not even paying attention to him. That gave him ample time to do what needed to be done.
More precisely, what needed to be done was not so delicately engage the cheetah in a tackle. Hopefully, he'd have her pinned down on the sand before she got a chance to run, because Njal definitely was not fast enough to chase her! The lion was quite keen on pleasing his wife, and she had wanted a pretty little cheetah thrall. Ideally capture wasn't too traumatic, but this cheetah would probably need some talking to, so as learn her place.

“I am sure.” Norolim said firmly, looking around for anything of interest and – oh, the irony – any dangers that might be closing in on their location. The tackle caught her by surprise and she instinctively fought against the overwhelming weight of a male lion.
“Let me go! Let me go, you heathen, you brute!” she screamed after a brief moment of intense hissing and surprised gibberish. She calmed down quickly enough, returned to her dignified attitude and stopped struggling against the furry boulder. “Get off of me.” She said simply, waiting for the slightest opportunity to flee. It would take one second for her to fly out of this monster’s grip and she was ready to take it the first chance she got.

It was a very interesting situation for him. Njal had never actually attacked a cheetah before in anyway, so he was even a little surprised by how weak they were. He held her down with his paws as he stood to keep his face out of reach, just in case of flailing paws, but found he wasn't having much trouble holding her down. Especially once she stopped struggling.
Now he had to think the logistics of this! "Not going to happen. Shut up." He rolled his eyes. How dense was she? Norolim wasn't getting out of here now. He had been hoping not to have to really injure this cheetah, but he felt it might be necessary. He glanced down at her paws. Njal supposed he could bite one pretty hard, that should keep her from running off. It'd heal, but he was fine with just a temporary solution for now. Hmmm, hmmm. He'd think on that a bit, it wasn't like he was in a hurry.
"I'm taking you back to my pride. I did say we welcome other species, didn't I? You'll help out my wife with whatever she asks you to do, and be our thrall." She didn't really have a choice in the matter, so he didn't bother to ask for her opinion. "If I were you I'd behave. There are far worse fates than work."
((Can/should Njal injure her? o: ))

wooga Paes So sorry for the delay, RL has been crazy! And Njal definitely can - and probably should to make sure she doesn't try to run away before Akatta has a serious talk with her. He wanted her to be his wife’s slave? Not even his but his wife’s?! It was bad enough that he wanted to take away her freedom and force her to serve an inferior feline but he didn’t even want her for himself? She was supposed to be a casual gift to his mate? Oh no, Norolim didn’t think so, that wasn’t going to happen.
“Alright, just don’t hurt me…” she said evenly, agreeing with the large lion far too quickly not to be suspicious. There was no way she would accept such a fate willingly but the veiled threat didn’t go unnoticed either. She was waiting for the moment the lion eased the pressure and she would fly away faster that the big stupid oaf could blink. A slave? Her?! She would show him.

She was making the choice for him. That was fine. "That," He said, smiling slightly. Njal wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he knew when he smelled a rat. Figuratively speaking. "Is just something I can't promise." She had been striking at his face with her paws, and all he had to do to get to them was lower his head down to her. And so he did. In a flash he had lowered his head and bit down, hard, on one of her front paws.
Njal did the favor of not treating her like prey and shaking his head to maximize the damage, ideally that paw would heal. But it'd be a few weeks before she was back to running like a cheetah. Plenty of time for them to make a more permanent arrangement for her! As an added precaution, he stepped on her tail with one of his hind paws. It wasn't any real sort of injury, but might make her feel unbalanced for a while. He ignored whatever flailing and struggling might go on as he went, because he had a good hold on her, and wasn't too worried about her getting away.
Once satisfied with the done damage he turned her back onto her belly with using his paws, then grabbed her scruff to roughly bring her up to a sitting position. "There! Ready to go. You can walk along with me. Or I'll drag you, take your pick." Njal released her, confident that even if she tried to escape, she wouldn't get far. "You don't need to worry about hunting for a while, you'll be able to eat leftovers." Since it wasn't like she was in condition to feed herself now.

wooga Paes Last tag from her! By the way, is this one done or would you like to add one last post? “Stop, stop, stop!” Norolim flailed in a state of panic, eyes wide as the huge head of the lion bit her thin and fragile leg. Did he mean to kill her, after all? She cried out when he bruised her tail with the sheer force of his weight before rolling her around and grabbing her by the neck like a naughty cub. Never in her life had she been handled in such a way and the pure white cheetah just remained frozen in place with her head lowered, shaking like a leaf as she barely registered what the lion was saying now.
“I’ll walk.” She said quietly once the words finally made sense in her head and she took a few miserable steps with a very noticeable limp. After one longing glance towards the lands from where she’d come, Norolim looked away and waited for the lion to move. One day she’d feel better. One day she’d plot her escape. But it would not be today. Today she just felt lower than ever before and she wanted nothing more than to crawl into a dark corner and weep.
