[PRP] Shall We Be Friends? (Cruentus x Gweadnearth)

Ugh. The day was hot. Far, far to hot. Cruentus swept to her feet and moved over to a shaded area of overhanging rock. Her ear twitched at the sound of other cubs behind her, tussling, but she was uninterested. Since her birth, she had necessarily met her other brother and sister cubs, but never had she really... bonded... with any of them. They all seemed too silly and foolish to her. Most of Cru's time was spent stalking grasshoppers through the tall grass, watching the borderlands for signs of life, or simply doing as she was now; hiding from the heat in the shade. She sighed. It was a fine life, but honestly... she was a bit bored.

Gweth wasn't too hot. Unlike some of his siblings his fur was mainly white, which meant that the heat reflected off him instead of being absorbed. It was still hot of course, but he didn't feel it quite as much as some of the others did. At the moment he was engrossed in one of his favourite activites - bug stalking. Working through the long grass, the cub's tail visible but the rest of him hidden, he pounced! ....and missed. Gweth was large for his age with particularly oversized paws that promised strength in later life, but for now meant clumsiness. With a sigh, he popped his head up and spotted Cruentus.

"Cru! Uh. Hi!"

Gweth grinned at his sister, bounding over.

Cruentus tilted her head towards the sound of her name being called out - more out of surprise than actual desire to acknowledge whoever it was. She recognized the lumbering white form as one of her brothers. Gweth, she believed he was called. As he approached, she stared up at him, looking him over slowly. She said nothing, content to wait for him to share his reason for interrupting her silence. Cruentus wasn't mean, as such, merely... cautious. No need to give anything away unnecessarily.

Gweadnearth tilted his head at his sisters silence, then brought a paw up and waved it in front of her face, pulling a worried face of his own. His tail twitched at the silence. He had wanted to speak to her, but now she was really quiet and not responding. What if she was heat-sick? Of course he couldn't /admit/ that he was worried, so he passed it off semi-jokingly.

"Did you melt in the heat?"

Cru's pulled her nose back as Gweth waved near it, raising her eye. She look up above her head pointedly, indicating the overhanging rock that was keeping her cool.

"Not as yet."

Her tail twitched as she considered her brother. She wasn't quite sure what to make of him. When she hadn't been interested in tussling in the hot sun, her other siblings had lost interest in her. Gweth though... she'd noticed him hanging around, though they hadn't talked much. He seemed nice enough. Maybe she should make a bit of effort.

Eyes flicking to the grass where Gweth had previously been, she asked casually, "What are you doing?"

Gweth's face melted into relief, and he spoke a little hastily, allowing his emotion to overtake his senses.
"I'm glad!"

Of course then he turned a little pink around the muzzle and shuffled his paws, hastily coughing to cover it up. As his sister spoke he almost jumped on the oppurtunity to get over the emotional smushy stuff and on to more interesting topics he wasn't dodging, not at all gosh.

"I was practicing pouncing and catching bugs. "

Cru almost smiled at the eagerness her brother displayed. Almost. He was rather cute, if she was honest. Not nearly as dull as her tumbling siblings behind them.

At the mention of bug hunting, Cru perked up despite herself. Her ears twitched toward, and she glances around a bit. "Oh really? Did you catch anything?"
