Days ago...

Karana'Mzaana, lethargic from the heat as well as her body weighted with those of future children of the firekin, a litter she knew not how many knew of. Whether her children that still remained within the lands, whether Fia, even Sinbad, their father, knew, she was unsure. All she knew was the happiness she felt in her heart. The old historian who had passed her talents onto Fia, and those that would continue with the slates was happy, and a smile on her maw.

The future of the firekin, they would be strong.

They would survive these tough times, granted by the strength Karana'Mzaana could pass to them.

She was aged, that, anyone could tell. Part of the pride since the rebellion, she was proud of her heritage, her family, within the lands, but still, memories worried her. Family lost to that beyond the borders of the pride, worried her.

Her lost son and daughter.

Mwako'Nakama, Gaddith, huria by color and namesake, but firekin, she knew in her heart. She only prayed to the sun and the fire in her heart, her soul, that she would not see any of her future litter take the same steps to leave.

She did not want to live to see another child lost.

They were all firekin, she knew it.

But days ago, as she wandered the dunes, thinking of her family, the pride's strength regardless of war so close, a shadow above brought news.

Kessek, the avian companion of her sun-kissed daughter.

Somehow, upon coming across a member of the pride, perhaps one of the dispatched sentinels, Mwako'Nakama had heard of the trouble that awaited the firekin beyond the horizon.

Mwako'Nakama was coming home.

She was close, passing through the outpost.

A happiness Karana'Mzaana thought she had lost filled her heart, and she told Kessek to relay the message she would wait for Mwako'Nakama near the border, to be the first to welcome her daughter home. Perhaps not permanently, perhaps only to aid in this time of war, but Karana'Mzaana would be the first.

Today Karana'Mzaana has come to the borders, high on a dune to watch for sight of her daughter, near some stray stones that littered the area. She had told none of Nakama's soon-tobe arrival, as she wanted it to be a surprise.

Her daughter would return like the rise of the coming sun.

So she waits, eyes watching, for sight of her daughter coming home.

But something unknown lurks on the horizon...

Anyone who met her, even within a few moments, would know something was very wrong with the lioness. Mir was anything but normal, anything but calm, she was not one you'd want the young and naive to meet. She collected things, from those she fell. She even showed one of her new nergui companions, but she believed she had a friend in her, hopefully. Friends were few and far to come by. Mir had a friend once.

She keeps a few toes bones of his strung together, strung round her forepaw.

Strange tokens like these were bound to her where she could. PIeces of fur, hides, mane, bones, feathers. She appeared a strange being, with her blind eye and single sight leading the way.

She had a companion in tow, she eyed them warily, she felt as if being followed. Perhaps it was because she was not supposed to travel this way. The oma would be displeased, she believed, but perhaps they would understand her need.

Perhaps her actions could help their campaign.

It was a lovely thing indeed.

She did not know if they would stop her.

A lovely campaign indeed.

So she trudged along with them towards the borders, sand under paw, eyes blinking, yes, she needed something, and today she'd find it, she hoped.

Zizima had only been introduced to Mir that very morning, and already he didn't like her. There was something very wrong with her, just like Ovu, who also happened to be present. He didn't trust either of them, and so he would have to keep an eye on the pair of them. With this in mind, he was careful to keep his pace somewhat slower than theirs, so that he could walk behind them and watch them both at the same time.

They were on a scouting mission, as far as he was aware, although they were fairly far from where they had started at this point. "Where are you taking us Mir?" His voice was gruff and stern, although he hadn't really meant to sound that way. He didn't really like being so predjudice, but what could he really think of a female who wore bones?

User Image
(( Look how evil he is! ))

Ovu grinned widely as he walked alongside Mir. The pair were so alike, both in appearence and in personality, that it was surprising that he hadn't spent more time with her as a member of the Nergui. It was a happy coincedence then that Muunokhoi had asked him to join Mir and Zizima on their little scouting mission. What Mir and Zizima didn't know however was that Ovu's mission was to make sure that Zizima never came back. Or at the very least, reveal him to be the weakling that he and Muunokhoi believed him to be.

When Zizima asked where they were headed, Ovu let out a small, sinister chuckle. "Oh, nowhere in particular, right Mir?" His eyes flashed darkly as he looked at Mir, hoping that she would play along. He knew as well as she did that they shouldn't be headed in this particular direction, but luckily for her, it fitted into his and the Warlord's plans.

Karana'Mzaana looked to the borders, beyond where their lands ended and hoped to see her daughter rise from the horizon line like a burst of sun flame. But as she waited, her expression, though a smile still lingered on her face, her eyes grew wary, fearful.

Why was she taking so long?

Surely she had not run into trouble at the outpost.

Was she hesitant on coming home?

Mzaa stood, groaned softly, at the weight in her abdomen. It was hard with the heat, no immediate source of water within distance. Her throat felt dry.

Would she be able to say the words she wanted to say for so long?

Welcome home.

She could only hope.

Everyday she had waited for this day, hoping, praying, she felt like years had passed.

She felt as if a little piece of her died everyday her children were gone, her, waiting for them.

Mir looked to teh gray one, sighed, rolled her eyes, what he could see anyway. Her fur had grown such a mess over her good eye, she let others see the bad, the blind, or so they thought. It gave her a strange visual, but it was intoxicating sometimes.

"Gray shall see, if not a fool," a fool to get in her way.

The darker fellow though, he seemed to understand, perhaps not in entirety. But the clicking of the bones worn as adornments on her were a reminder to not trifle with Mir.

Ever, if helped.

Though she knew punishment may come from her acts, though these two did not know the extent of what she had planned, she had to. There was something calling her, something waiting, and she was going to fuel the fire already flamed with kindling of the nergui's doing.

Yes, it would be lovely.

"If you are strong, you will do well, you will not fail. Fail me, let me fail, an offering must suffice," she said with a half crazed grin, perhaps too exaggerated, but she cackled afterwards, watching their faces.

She stopped just before the dunes got high, and looked to the two.

"Ready to take steps to ensure strength? Bring forth what may, to retrieve what Mir requires? If one of you, nergui, I must be strong, and beyond this, somewhere, my saving grace lies. You will help a fellow nergui become strong, strength for small groups, strength for Mir, strength for nergui?"

And, closure.

It was what she wanted most, in any form it could be granted.

A low growl radiated in Zizima's throat. "The only fool I see here is you. Has it not occured to you where we are right now?" They had been walking with dried dirt and grass beneath their paws for some time, but it had now been replaced by harsh, burning sand.

The 'Grey Warrior', as the Nergui had named him, hadn't ventured into the desert for a very long time indeed. It was never an easy thing to do, for a number of reasons. Being here now, with two lions that he didn't trust and the sun beating down on his pale back, just didn't sit well with him at all. Although he didn't exactly feel uneasy, he couldn't help but wish that they were elsewhere.

As Mir went on, it was hard to figure out what she was even talking about. Was this mission just for her then? And if it was, why was he told to join her along with Ovu? Zizima scowled at her, from his position a few feet behind her and Ovu. They had all stopped moving, but he would continue to keep his distance. "You don't have to worry about my strength. All Nergui will know of it soon enough." At that point, his scowl transfered to Ovu. Once he became a Warlord, and dealt with Muunokhoi, Ovu would be next.

Ovu rolled his bloodshot eyes before shooting a sarcastic look over his shoulder towards Ovu. "What? You don't like the desert?" He chuckled. The bloody red male also hadn't visited the desert in some time. Last time he had, he had brutally murdered a family of passing rogues, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He even found a Firekin to show the horrific scene to, although he didn't stick around to see her reaction. It was just a bit of fun, after all.

Ovu couldn't help but raise a brow at Mir's strange choice of words. When this little mission was over, he would have to seek her out, and get to know her a little better. If there was one thing the strange male needed, it was more allies. Especially if his mission today didn't go as well as he wanted it to.

When Zizima glared at him, Ovu glared right back, although a wide grin differenciated his expression from the Grey Warrior's. "I look forward to it. After all, you're only here to help, aren't you?" His voice was laced with venom. He and Mir both seemed to be playing dangerous games, but he would have to be that little bit more careful about who he played with.

Time stands still.

It was how she felt in that moment, looking out and seeing nothing, there was a sinking in her gut, and a pain rush through her, she grimaced, but would not move. It was too early, for the children. Surely the weather had taken it's toll, but not now, not yet, not when their older sister was just a few moments...hopefully, away from being brought home. She could be here for them, see them and know their names.

Her family would be a little whole once more, she only wished her prayers of the return of her dark son Gaddith, might be answered as well.

Grimacing again, Mzaa looked to the sun, the dunes and closed her eyes.

She remembered the beauty in all that was Mwako'Nakama, how she saw it in all her children, but everything appeared to be at a standstill.

She silently called her daughter home.

Mir looked to the gray one and grinned, fangs pressing against one another perhaps too much, too much tension, and she could taste a little blood in her mouth from the sharp edges touching the inside of her lips.

"You have strength, then show us both. Show all that get in our way. We move as one now, quickly, one behind the other, and when our foe comes into view, then we disperse around them, encompassing like the plague, like shadows of finality. Yes?"

Mir nodded to herself, and smiled to Ovu, genuinely.

They were strange, but strange together, that was good enough in her mind.

She determined Ovu was being helpful, she would not take a token from him, unless there was betrayal. The gray one though, he better be on his guard, yes.

Mir raised her head to the wind, inhaled deeply, and smiled.

Yes...someone was near, alone, too.

Wonderful.

"We move as one now, quickly, if you've the strength," she baited and began up the high dune before them at a steady paced jog, she'd get to the top, spot her target, and move them in.

But they ahd to be careful, very careful.

Zizima snarled at Ovu, who was clearly trying to provoke him, in his opinion. "You know I am." He had joined the Nergui based on what Ovu had told him. Considering that he didn't trust the blood red male, in hindsight, perhaps it was not his best decision. That didn't matter anymore though. He was one of the Nergui now, and at this point, he had only two missions in his own mind. One was to become a Warlord, so that he could challenge Muunokhoi and gain Sarangerel's freedom. The other was to help bring down the Pride that he believed had hurt Sarangerel and the other Nergui so badly. After both of those missions were accomplished, hopefully he would somehow feel better inside. He highly doubted it though. It was hard to consider the future too thoroughly.

When Mir spoke up again, he gave a small but firm nod of his head, although he doubted that they were going to come across any 'foes' way out here in the desert. Unless of course, they came across the lords of the desert. He knew that the Firekin's reach didn't spread across the entire desert, but still, they would have to be cautious. Although Zizima's first choice was never to fight, he would do so if needs be. If they did come across any Firekin, hopefully the fact that he was friends with Kidondo would be enough to let them pass by without any hassle.

Then suddenly, there was movement. Having seemingly smelled something, Mir was on the move, climbing up the high sand dune that lay before them. Zizima moved to follow, although it was difficult to go quite as fast as she did, as his much higher weight caused the sand to shift more freely below his paws. God how he hated the desert.

Ovu continued to smile widely. Zizima was too nice to be one of the Nergui, he knew this now. That's why something had to be done about him. Lying to him to get him to join had been a mistake, although not one that he would admit to making. If everything did start to fall apart, he would blame Sarangerel. She had taken such an instant shine to him, there was no way that anyone would believe her over him, should she deny that she was the one who convinced him to join. Still, he couldn't help but grin about all that he had done.

When Mir spoke again, Ovu moved closer to her. Her plan of attack, should they come across an enemy, was actually very sound. It surprised him that one as seemingly mad as her was capable of steady thought. Perhaps she was a lot more intelligent than she let on, much like himself. "I think that's a wonderful plan." He said smoothly, still grinning.

Then, she started moving up the sand dune that blocked their view of the horizon. Claws extended, Ovu attacked the dune, clambering up it as best he could. He was a big lion too, just like Zizima, but he seemed to enjoy the unpredictable footing that the dune provided. It didn't take him long to reach the top, at which point he turned and waited for Mir and Zizima.

Died inside waiting for you, she thought, but she knew it was untrue. There was life, now, waiting, sleeping, but they seemed upset, and Mzaa panted, licking her lips, blinking, lokoing to the sun. If only there were clouds, today, even thunder, lightning, she would consider herself graced by some gift from hte sun, to grant her some shadey passage while waiting for her daughter.

Then, a scent caught her attention.

Ears perked forward, Mzaa came to stand, peered out to a high dune not far from where she stood, but far enough that the dark image atop it was in line with the sun she could not make out a color.

A smile graced her face, excited feelings filling her heart.

"Nakama," she spoke softly, and raised her head, let herself hold a proud stance in her old age so that her daughter would know that her strength, that Mzaa's fire had burned for her daughter even in her absence.

"Then show, do not withhold haste," Mir said simply, climbing the dune. Ovu was first, and she grinned at him. Least he liked her plan.

Yes it would work well.

At she reached the crescent of the dune she saw a lone figure, as she smelled, though Ovu was the one in line of sight.

"Mir shall lead, you two behind, the strong one in the back," she said with a gleam in her eye, watching the gray one.

She then darted in front of Ovu and made sure they would follow, but be close, they needed to appear as one. The sun was on their side, glaring in the eyes of the beholder before them.

Female, alone, and something more. A sensation ran through Mir, perhaps she could get more than what she had planned for.

Closure, was what she wanted, but this female was alone..but not.

She snarled lowly as she moved, glancing over her shoulder to the males.

"Do not slow now, do not fail!" and she ran for the lone figure, adrenaline in her veins, firekin.

Yes, this one was firekin.

Perfect.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 17, 2012 3:58 am

Zizima frowned and shook his head. These two were both as vile as each other, no wonder they seemed to be getting on so well. They both reached the top of the dune before him, but at least that meant that he could keep an ever watchful eye on them.

When he reached the top, he peered out across the desert. His black eyes narrowed when he spotted a lone figure, not far from where they were. The figure was dark, which suggested that it wasn't a Firekin. A passing rogue then? That wouldn't have been totally strange, as Zizima had crossed the desert all on his own before on his way back from the Ela'wadiyi lands. Still, they couldn't be too careful. At least, that's what he thought.

Before he could even tell Mir and Ovu to turn back, Mir was already running and sliding down the dune, heading straight for the lone figure. Zizima snarled viciously, taken aback by Mir's stupidity. "Come back here Mir! There could be others!"

Ovu was too busy eyeing up Mir as she made her way up the dune to notice the figure in the distance. His bloodshot eyes danced over her body, taking in every muscle movement as she went, as if he was in some kind of trance. He only snapped out of it when both Mir and Zizima caught sight of something in the desert, at which point he followed their gazes towards the lone figure.

Ovu's grinned spread that little bit wider as he attempted to focus on the figure. Where Zizima had doubted that it was a Firekin, he knew that it was. So this was the game Mir was playing. She was going to play with fire, literally, and take the Nergui's conflict to new heights. It was risky to say the least, but with him at her side, she would not fail. There was only one problem. Zizima.

The bloody red male quickly launched himself off the dune, his paws thundering into the sand, only for him to kick a bunch of it up and in Zizima's direction. If they were going to do what Ovu hoped they were going to do, they needed to do it before Zizima stopped them. "This is going to be fun!" He said with a wicked laugh as he ran just behind Mir, leaving the Grey Warrior behind, hopefully for long enough to carry out Mir's plan.

Karana'Mzaana watched the oncoming figure, taking a few steps, keeping the same strong posture, but then, as the figure began to get closer, the color of the other one's pelt did not lighten, the rise of the sun across the sands, was not coming for the firekin lands. Something else was, someone else...more than one. Narrowing her eyes, she grit her jaw then, looked beyond where the forms were, then behind her, her daughter was coming, and this was her home, bother hers and her daughter's, not matter what anyone said. No matter who came, no matter nergui, as she suspected these two, as.

She would protect, she would be strong, as she had in the past.

I tell myself that I'll be strong she thought, but she had to believe it.

She did not have the youth of young age anymore, but wisdom of years passed.

Standing alone, she told herself she'd be strong.

She had to.

Mir snarled at the gray one and kept on, eyes gleaming at Ovu. Yes, he was one to keep at her side. Together, they would not fail.

"We will take their spirit, their security, through my closure," she spoke as they ran, full force, blood beating in her ears like thunder, her blind eye was closet to him, and she looked on, "I need sight once more, I will take it" she said with a snarl.

Her muscles tensed then, and she sprinted forward, knowing Ovu was close behind, where the gray one was, was no matter yet. She would not fail, she could not.

As she got closer, she saw the color of the females eyes...the pregnant stomach, and she snarled as she leapt for the dark, silver nad red female, knowing all well: silver eyes.

It was what she needed.

Moreso, what better than a mother, when her mother had taken sight form her?

As she leapt she gouged her claws into the air, then gripping the female's shoulders, smashing into her and grinding down into the sands.

Mzaa braced herself, she could not lift herself up far, expose her abdomen, her children, her unborn children. Surely someone had to hear the commotion? And she had a sinking sensation in her spirit, she had come this way to be a surprise, she had told no one...

Regardless, the fire in her retaliated against this female, blind-eyed, she thought though old, she would have the advantage, and it was not the case. In a flurry of claws and snarls she fought back, keeping low, refusing to let the female pass.

But as she focused on the female, she had lost sight..and thought, of the male, two males, approaching.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 18, 2012 1:06 am

"Ovu!" Zizima roared out as the sand that Ovu kicked in his direction went into his eyes and nose. He raised a paw in an attempt to clean his eyes, whilst he seethed over what had just happened. The bloody red male had done that on purpose. "I'll kill him!" He spat to himself, whilst blinking repeatedly and raising the other paw in an effort to clear the other eye.

Although they were still watering, once his eyes were finally free of sand, he peered out once more to see what the sick pair were doing. Mir had already reached the lone figure and was now attacking it, whilst Ovu was closing in fast. Zizima quickly looked around, to see if anyone else was nearby. It appeared the dark figure really was alone, which made it even more disgusting that Mir had attacked it. He would have to stop her and Ovu, before it was too late.

Zizima took off from the dune, although his size didn't make it easy for him to reach the bottom with slipping and sliding everywhere. He just hoped he could reach them in time.

Ovu cackled as he heard the roar of Zizima behind him. He could feel his heart racing and his blood pumping, much as it always did when he was about to kill someone. The rush was unbeatable, and it was something he had been forced to control for some time. It was finally time to unleash the monster within, and he couldn't quite wait.

In his excitement, he completely missed what Mir said. If he had of heard it, even he would've thought it strange. The fact that the figure, who turned out to be female, had chosen not to run was also rather strange. She had stood her ground, even with two red monsters upon her. Ovu would make sure that she was punished for her selfish stupidity, as there was nothing he loved more than a good chase.

With Mir distracting her, Ovu whipped around the female's side, at which point he let out a gasp. She was pregnant. "Oh my." He mused, a harsh chuckle escaping his throat as he did so. It didn't make one lick of difference to him. In fact, it excited him. Instead of murdering one female, they were going to murder an entire family. If the Firekin thought they knew loss, they would be proven wrong in the most horrific of circumstances.

Without wasting a second more, Ovu launched himself at the pregnant female, claws outstretched, in an effort to take her down from the most sensitive part of her body; her stomach. In the back of his mind, he knew that Zizima would be on the approach. The sooner they finished this female off, the better.

(( Didn't wanna god mode, so I haven't RPed him actually making contact. :B You can decide if it's OK for him to tackle her to the ground or not. ))

The females went back and forth, Karana'Mzaana kept taking steps back, keeping this strangely red and dark female on front of her, not letting her get behind. She would not let her pass, but it seemed as if the female didn't want to. Was she the target the entire time? Was this planed? She had a horrific pain ripple through her body, not because of the females claws, but because of her unborn children, it appeared as if they wished to will their way upon the world.

But too soon.

Mzaa hunched over from the ripple of pain, only to feel the female bat at the side of her face, that was where she was most focused.

But why?

Karana snarled and thew out her claws to hit the female in the face, and she snarled, reeling back.

"Insolence!" Mir roared at the dark female. Her blind eye most visible, searching for her target. Soon, she might see again. "You fight the inevitable!" she would create a rift from where fire would be snuffed out. No firekin would rise from her actions, none.

"You and your pride are weak!" Mir said taking a step, but the female did not move. She saw Ovu approaching fast. "You will know defeat, and so will the rest of your pride. You've lost the fire and strength, all of you! I will gain my strength, my sight back, you will give it to me!"

"You are crazed!" Mzaa snarled and as she launched forward, her ears perked, and she saw the darkest male nearest er and she turned slightly so that he would hit her back. The pain was terrible. But she had protected her children.

They had to survive.

She would protect her pride, her family.

They would rise, Nakama was coming. But how far?

"You will never see the Firekin fade, you and your band are delusional," Mzaa said, trying to stand, but the weight, and sheer strength of the male on her back was immense, she couldn't move far, but her stomach was not bared to him and his claws. "Our strength burns like the sun," she said glaring, and more were coming.

At least, her daughter was.

Mir snarled and swept out a paw but Mzaa turned her head, felt another ripple of pain through her body, and she felt weak. The heat, and the energy she had lost was taking its toll.

"Hold her!" Mir snarled. She noticed the female struggling, with more than what Ovu was pressing upon her back. She placed a paw on the side of Mzaa's face, a strange, wide grin spreading across her maw. If the children were to be born, they would take them too.
