User ImageEe'bo was starting to get old enough to move about on his own under supervision. He had heard rumours from other cubs that there was a god hanging around in the pride at the moment. At first he had thought they meant his mom, so he hadn't really been impressed by the news. She didn't sleep in their den, but she visited all the time.

However, when he started to realise that this was some other god, a male one, and that he just sat in the same place and did nothing... Now that was interesting. It could just be that the older cubs were trying to trick them, but he was starting to get a bit too curious for his own good. And today, when the nannies were busy, he had seized the opportunity to take a look at this other god. The fact that he was supposedly male ruled out mom and also Lady Pestilence. Ee'bo wasn't sure what other gods there were, but he was eager to find out.

((Eep! So sorry that this took a month to get to. My muses completely crashed around the time this got posted, so for that I apologize. I'm starting to work things out though. :3 ))

There was indeed a god lounging in a more secluded part of the Kitwana'antara lands, and the rumors about him were true. He was a large mess of greasy wings, disheveled mane, blood, snakeskin and grit. His spiked tail was lifelessly sprawled behind him, feathers had molted in to a small pile by his sides, and there were crusty, uncleaned wounds that marred his body. He was certainly quite a sight.

His black eyes were open, staring out at no spot in particular. There was peeled snakeskin littered in various places, including his mane, as well as small critters that had lingered too long in Apathy's presence. Dead bodies of the small rodents were his only companion, short of the crimson snake that Veri had told him to tend. If the snake had any objections about the mane in which it sometimes settled, Nemanja didn't seem to notice or (more likely) care. Well. That wasn't entirely true, but for sake of appearances he wouldn't utter a word. The snake was not his own, and he truly did hope that Veri would find it in fine shape when she would come to retrieve it. At the very least, he made easy prey for the snake if the rodent graveyard next to him was any indication.

So it was, the large god stared quietly out at the horizon. There were various scents of other lions whom had approached and passed the god on patrols. Some had sought him out, seeking out a different way to forget the pain, hurt, anxiety, fear. . . . Others came to battle. . . question . ..sneer. . . Nemanja met them all with relatively the same amount of apathy. Still, he served them all in his own way, as such was a gods duty.

If he noticed or cared that a cub approached, he gave no indication. He was still as stone, still as death. . . a fitting, disheveled statue.

Well, this sure looked promising! Ee'bo had never seen anything like Nemanja in his short life, and he hadn't smelled anything like him either. His ears moved constantly as he walked around the God-pile, and his nostrils flared to take it all in. He wanted to prod the dead mice, but managed to stop himself. When he rounded the God and found the spiked tail he gave a little squeal of delight.

"This is awesome!" he concluded, "You're a God! And you're much cooler than mommy! And you're much more smelly!"

Veri's tail was pretty awesome, especially when she let him bite it a little, but it didn't have spikes. This one had spikes! And he needed to touch them sooo badly.

Nemanja did notice when the small, black and red banged cub prowled out and and around him. He didn't mind the stranger investigating him, and certainly didn't care whatever judgement might be passed. Still, very few cubs did come his way, as most adults ushered them away from the god. His powers weren't strong, but the corpses of the smaller animals nearby were just enough of a threat to little cubs that most were kept well away.

Nemanja'janan really wasn't entirely sure how to respond to the little cub. A small part of him had decided to treat him just like he would any other creature. . . but another part of the god understood that cubs were different. At least he didn't seem afraid of him, or particularly aggressive like Mittere. The change in company might serve him well, and the red that coated the ebony fur was reminiscent of a particular goddess he knew. In fact, there was something just a little familiar about the scent of the cub, but nemanja wasn't one to focus on details. . . .

Not unless he felt it worthwhile.

For now though, he allowed one of his ears to flick back as he listened to what the cub said. He seemed strangely pleased to be in his company, particularly due to the scent of his coat and . . . some sort of 'coolness'. He honestly didn't know what that meant, but understanding a cub could be tricky. They lived in their own world, after all. The tip of his tail twitched some, and Nemanja considered sitting up.

". . .You are ever observant, young one." Nemanja spoke, not quite teasing him, but perhaps the slightest bit amused by Ee'bo's proclamation. He was indeed a god, and he did have a rather strong scent. Still, he would let the cub do what he wished. . . . It didn't bother Nemanja one way or another!

The cub was very pleased to have found the God. It would have been very annoying to sneak away just to learn that the older kitling had tricked him...

The slight twitch of the large tail sealed the deal for Ee'bo. Touching it wouldn't be enough, he needed to bite it! Chomping down on a tail full of spikes was perhaps not the wisest move. The cub aimed between the spikes and didn't think of the very real possiblity of getting an eye poked out if the God as much as twitched. It was an awesome tail and it needed to be done.

The cubs little fangs sank in to the tip of his tail, right between the large, spikes. Thankfully for Ee'bo, Nemanja'janan had grown up with a dear friend that also was a tail biter, and had become accustomed to other things creeping over him, on him, biting him, chewing him, licking him, scratching him. . . The reactions others found when faced with such an apathetic creature were often unusual. In some cases they tried to bully a response out of him, and in others they found him simply a fun toy. Sadly, no matter what they did, it rarely would yield a desired result.

It was good for Ee'bo's health that he did not twitch his tail. In fact, hard as the cub might try to bite, the gods tail remained motionless. The most he got was a twist of the ear. " . . . " He almost made a comment, almost said something, but decided against it.

It wouldn't have mattered if he spoke or if he remained silent. The cub was chewing on his tail and likely wouldn't respond anyway, so until he finished his game, why waste the energy to converse? Instead, he heaved a yawn and flopped his head back down on the ground. He did consider lifting attempting to roll the cub over with his tail . . . but mortals were fragile, and his games might lead to the thing getting crushed or broken. Much as he might claim to not care one way or another, the truth of the matter was, Nemanja did. . . .

Sometimes.

No reaction at all. It was oddly satisfying to chomp down on a tail that wasn't pulled away at once, and he bit down as hard as he could. Still no reaction. Ee'bo released it after a while, giving the mangled appendage an appologetic lick. His sharp cub teeth couldn't do any lasting damage, but he didn't know that, and he felt slightly guilty for some reason. He trotted around to the other end of the God and plopped down in front of his face.

"HI!" he said, in case the God had missed that he was sitting inches from his face, "My mom is a Goddess. And there's another Goddess here too, but I've never seen her and she's the lady and when she likes someone she takes them away! What kind of God are you? Do you know the lady here? Did she invite you? I kind of want to meet her but she's scary too."
