i like to reread old favorites from time to time;

this habit started when i found myself rereading LOTR cover to cover again and again.

my latest summer treat was maybe twenty years old, The Unlikely Ones, by Mary Brown (she needs a more distinctive name).

a twelve year old and her six animal friends communicate by telepathy and escape the witch who imprisoned them. to become truly free, they must rid themselves of the gems which are embodied in their bodies.

this involves bargaining with an ancient crotchety wizard, fighting seven kinds of evil, and returning the gems to their rightful owner

who happens to be a fire breathing dragon.
