She had just woken for the day, and she was up in a flash. She liked getting up and getting out each morning. She wasn't much of a homebody, and she could sleep when she was dead. She felt refreshed, and ready to go, though she wasn't sure what it was that she was ready to do. Canicah, her best friend, had already told her that she was going to be busy today. She had half a mind to go and demand she spend time with her.. But even she wasn't going to go that far. At least not today. Mid-thought, she saw something shift out of the corner of her eyes. She whipped her head around, and watched as a mouse scurried for it's life. She growled, and lunged, dashing towards it as fast as she could manage. It zig zagged in the grass, and she followed as best she could.. And then it darted into a hole in the ground, and she skidded to a stop. She dug at the hole, but then growled again, giving up. She could just try again later.

Like his sister, Burzum believed that a person could sleep when they were dead. However, his favorite hours to be awake were those when the sun wasn't shining, and so the abrupt movements of his sister waking up came as a daily nuisance to the young Stormborn, who had only returned from his nightly hauntings and fallen asleep a few short hours ago.
There was no point in trying to go back to sleep though. The rest of the family would be waking up and moving around soon enough, and that would be impossible to sleep through. He might as well get up and see what Finna was so blasted excited about being awake for this morning. Since she was a girl it would probably be something stupid or flowery, but she might have accidentally stumbled across something cool. Maybe.
Moving silently with what he privately thought of as spirit stealth, Burzum more or less stalked his sister as she stalked...something else. He couldn't tell what because her stupid head was in the way and if he shifted so he could see her quarry he wouldn't be hidden anymore. Fortunately, her attention seemed pretty thoroughly occupied by whatever it was she was chasing, and so he was able from time to time to look ahead and try to catch a glimpse of her prey.
He followed closely until he heard Finna growl, and then he ducked down and held still, breathing so softly it was almost like he wasn't breathing at all. Surprising members of his family took far more skill than surprising regular Stormborn, and his goal was to make Finna shriek. It was revenge for waking him up.

She didn't realize that her brother was following her. Her mind was focused on being angry now that the mouse had got away. She frowned, and kicked at the dirt with her front paw. She moved away from the hole in the earth, and felt her belly grumble. That mouse would have made a good breakfast. She could always eat again when mother and father brought in their kill. But that would have satisfied her at least for now. Sighing, she plopped down in the grass, her tail flicking irritably. She needed to find something else to hunt. She liked learning how to do that. Maybe at the very least, she would run across a beetle! She wouldn't eat the beetle though. Gross.

Burzum would have eaten a beetle. But only for the ickiness of doing it. He wouldn't have enjoyed it or done it without an audience to gross out. But he was a boy, and boys did things like that. Particularly boys like Burz who liked to upset people.
Slinking he moved closer until he was within pouncing range. He probably wouldn't pounce on Finna, since pouncing on a person tended to ruin the overall impression he preferred to give, which was that of being a ghost, but Finna would already know that he wasn't a ghost, so there wasn't much point to that particular charade.
Eh. He'd just pounce on her and then vanish. That would be almost as much fun.
Burz drew a deep breath in preparation for one of his especially awful growl-scream-things and then pushed off with his hind legs, aiming for his sister as he let out with a blood-curdling noise. It was the only good thing about his still squeaky voice, was that he could make other noises with it.

If she had been paying any attention whatsoever. She may have had the feeling that things were.. too quiet. But because she had been too preoccupied with the emotion anger, she had completely lost focus on the world around her. Life wasn't really dangerous when she was who she was. Her family was special, and within the pride lands she felt safe from harm. Her eyes went wide when the sound hit her ears. Her blood began pumping like crazy through her veins and her face took on a look of horror. She nearly jumped out of her skin, whipping herself around. He hadn't pounced her, but pounced right beside her and she felt herself starting to glare. "Burzum!" She growled, feeling irritated that she had shown such emotion. "Don't DO that!" She said, and took a deep breath, letting it out audibly.

Oh that was priceless! Burzum's grin split his face nearly from ear to ear upon seeing the look on his sister's face. Her glare didn't frighten him. He believed himself fearless, and even had he not been, his own sister wasn't likely to strike fear into his heart.
"Hey, Finna," he said with a grin that told her exactly how silly she'd looked. "Are you awake now?"
He rolled onto his side to look at Finna. She and Erskine were both different. The way their markings were placed, the colors of their fur. They did not so much resemble the family. Erskine less than Finna, but still. Probably it came from Grandma Raven's side.

Countless days of living with her brother, she figured she should have been used to it. But that didn't mean it irritated her any less. It just meant she needed to be smarter, and more careful about knowing who was following her. Though Burzum was good.. He was like a ghost in a way. You'd never hear him coming. If anything, she hoped he would teach her how he was so quiet. "I was awake before you did it." She grumbled, watching him smile and shaking her head. "Why did ya have to go and pick on me? Isn't there someone else you'd like to harass?" She asked. She kind of wanted to suggest that lioness that had told her she was wrong. But she figured he was still too young to do anything of any use of her. "Why are you awake? It's early for you." She said, plopping her butt back down and watching as he rolled to his side.

If Finna had asked, Burz would've been happy to show Finna what he'd learned about stealth. He'd learned on his own at first, but after that he'd asked their Odd-uncle to show him what he knew about stealth, because he was really absurdly quiet. Odd had taught him some and told him that his grandmother Raven would be able to teach him more.
"Yeah, but were you really awake? As awake as you are now?" Burz pressed. He was going to play this off like he'd done Finna a favor, no matter how much she protested. His oh-so-helpful demeanor dimmed a little bit toward sullenness when he told Finna, "And I'm awake because you're noisy in the morning."
He closed his eyes and tilted his head back, exhaling slowly. "There's someone I'd rather harass, yes, but you're so very right here and the idiot I want to mess with is up in the pride proper. He is such a moron."

She frowned at him and rolled her eyes. Brothers could be such pests sometimes. Especially older ones. She sighed, shrugging her shoulders. "I was awake. Thanks." She said with a snort. Then she udnerstoood why he had done it. She had woken him up, eh? Suddenly she was feeling a bit better. At least she had inconvenienced him a little.. Especially after the stunt he had just pulled. Though the lioness inside her loved gossip, and she find herself perking at the thought of him having someone he'd like to harass. Who was it he was calling a moron? She smiled, and cleared her throat. "Who is a moron? Maybe it's the same Stormborn I think is a moron too." She nodded huffily.

She wasn't getting it. Burz wasn't surprised. She was only a girl, and everybody knew that girls weren't smart until they grew up, and then it must come on them all at once or something. He was still watching Kazul to see when it would happen for her. He never thought it came on with having cubs because his own mum could be pretty dumb sometimes, but there had to be some magical trigger. After all, his grandma and great-aunt were really smart and clever and all.
"Oh, just some utterly pathetic viking-born outlander's son," Burz said, tagging as many unflattering adjectives about the other lion onto him as possible. The little arse had called him a b*****d, and Burz resented that a great deal. He'd also called him a liar.
"I've already whipped him pretty badly, but he could probably use a reminder of why people shouldn't mess with our family, you know? His name's Yollalunta or something stupid like that. He's got a lot of family in the pride. They're pretty much all outlanders or viking-born."

He was lucky he hadn't said that she wasn't that bright out loud. She would have given him an earful.. Not that he would have cared, but it probably would have irritated him eventually, and that would have been enough for her. So it wasn't the same lion she had had issues with. Though Finna wasn't sure if her brother was the type to start arguments with females like he was with males. She had been quick to tell off the female, but she wasn't sure she could have, had it been a big male. She likely would have been intimidated.. "Bleh. Well. Least not I know to stay away from him." She noted the name down, and hoped she never had to deal with the male. Though she wondered what Burz had done to irritate the youngster enough to make him say what he had. Not that it mattered much. Burz was her brother, and though she irritated him and vice versa, she was loyal to her family.

"He's stupid. His whole family is stupid and weak," Burz went on. "Since tomorrow's Friday, I'm probably going to go pick on him some more. He likes to go swimming, so I'll wait for him by the river."
He didn't invite Finna to come along. For one thing, he didn't need her help in beating Yolla up. For another thing, he didn't want Yolla to think that he needed any sort of back-up in dealing with him. Because he didn't. Also there was the slim chance she might tell their parents and get him in trouble.
"Who's the person you think is a moron?" he asked, changing the subject. "Anyone I might know? I'd be happy to give you a hand in showing them the way things are, if you want one. I'm good at that."
And he was. He'd been sneaking off to spook people for as long as he could remember, and he really was good at it. He moved quietly, could make awful noises when he wanted to, and knew a lot of tricks for disappearing and reappearing like magic. He liked pretending to be a ghost.

Finna wasn't the type to want to get into the business of fighting, not yet anyway. And if she was, she wasn't the type to get into her brothers arguments. He held his own, and so she was not offended that he didn't ask her to come along. "I bet you will beat him up really good." She said, nodding her head. She liked her brother, even if he did tend to be a bit of an a**. She liked most of her siblings, though Burz she was closer to. She figured it was because they actually had conversations, whereas her other siblings were always doing their own things. "Some weak Reaver." She said with a scowl. She didn't know as much about her, as Burz knew about Yolla.. but she knew that Alehandra had pissed her off, and that was all she needed to know. "She went and told Canicah lies." Though that wasn't entirely true. Hinoko and Melinoe's Seer daughter was Finna's best friend.. Though she was younger, and she believed stupid things, Finna liked her. "Said that I was wrong and there were such things as sea monsters." She scowled again. "There are no such things as sea monsters." She spat again.. "And even if there were, how dare she say I'm wrong in front of me!" She looked at her brother, expecting him to agree with her.

Burz didn't really knew all that much about Canicah except that she was Finna's friend and that Finna had enough sense not to bring her into the forest. Nobody in the family really brought friends home to the forest except their Odd-uncle, it seemed, and he only brought Kazul, who was sort of their aunt and so was family and didn't really count.
"Sorry to hear that," he said truthfully. Being contradicted sucked, particularly when the person doing it was lying. "Why would she do that?"
Burz told lies, after a fashion. He used to tell people he was a ghost, for instance. And he threatened to do worse things to Yolla than he actually would because even though Yolla deserved them Burz had better things to do than get in trouble for doing those things he threatened. He didn't tell lies that contradicted his family though, which was sometimes a challenge, given how different the branches of his family were.
"Actually, Fin, I kind of hope there are such things as sea monsters," he said quietly, thinking of their aunt-thing Kazul. "If there aren't, that means Captain Ru can never come back, and Kazul will never be happy."

"Because she's stupid." She huffed, though she knew that her word needed to be more credible than the simple 'because she is' response. But her irritation for the lioness tended to ignite a small fire inside the little juvenile. "She wants to keep a cub's fantasies from being destroyed. They are just silly nonsense." She said, and huffed again. Finna felt no reason to lie. Sure she embelished sometimes, but she didn't consider that lying. She considered it making the story better than it had been before. "Yeah, I guess." She said, not having an opinion of Kazul or Ru. Though she had seen them, and she knew Kazul, she really hadn't involved herself in their plight.
