My brother is watching stupid Private Practice and we saw an episode about a 14 year old boy who was being bullied at his school for liking anime and stuff so he wore like anime shirts and decorated his locker in stuff but the bullies are mean to him in stuff. He changed schools 6 times in like a year.
Seriously? Who the hell would be bullied for liking anime? We all like anime.
Maybe anime isn't as popular as it used to be since that episode came out in 2011 I think... sad
Anime (and manga) was like a trend in like the early mid 2000s. Everyone knew what it was. People could tell what was an anime or not. It was popular on TV, DVD, etc. It was probably because of the trend how I found out about this site in the first place etc.

Anime was around when I was Middle school....not really that Popular until I got in high school. xD
At least from what I could remember....hmm, the few time I got made fun of is in Elementary school...but I would fight back...Made a 5th grade boy cry by tripping him when he called me fat. A few weeks later he punched me in the face...me being the sweet girl that I am bit him.
In middle school I would cry rather easy when guys made fun of me...and it was mostly guys that did it.
In high school I still got made fun of but they would always do it behind my back. I would normally find out because I talked to a large range of people xD
So they would end up telling me not to come around when so-and-so was around. Mainly because they didn't want to hear that person say stuff about me...I never once asked why not stand up for me?

I'm 26 and still like it. Yesterday I joined some of my coworkers for lunch in the middle of their conversation and they changed it. I was like what where you talking about and one very shyly said dragon ball z. I was like I enjoyed that a lot didn't like the fact it was on late at night though. Then they looked at me andI was like what? Didn't think I'd even know what you where talking about? XP Then the conversation continued. I just don't understand why people get embarrassed about stuff.

We started to hear and become more and more interested about anime in I think 8th grade in Middle School (which was 2003/2004 school year). You know, with Patric and all his friends in stuff liked anime and manga in stuff. I remember those big Shonen Jump magazines they sold at like the book fare in 8th grade. My brother still has them.
Then anime was like our way of life in the high school years from 2004 to around 2008 then it started to die. Like in 2005, there were like over 10 anime distributing companies, now we can narrow it down to only 3....it's sad.

Sailor moon when I was a kid...I never knew it was an anime when I was little same thing with YuYu Hakusho...and dragon ball as well...I leanered that it was anime when I watch InuYasha...and all those other shows when they came on at midnight XD

Nobody seems to care It's the guy who got us into the anime craze. biggrin I'm sure you remember Patrico-san I called you in 8th grade. biggrin And I can't remember being like beat-up bullied either, had to be in elementary school but I don't remember. I remember people calling us names in elementary school but that's it. And in high school in such people calling me names was rare. Like only happened like once or twice.

Seriously, it's probably cuz anime in the US is dying. I know!!!
Back in just 2005, you could name over a dozen anime distribution companies, now as of late 2012, you could narrow it down to only 3.
In 2005 there was:
-ADV Films (the biggest of the time)
-Geneon/Pioneer (2nd biggest or close to ADV at the time)
-Funimation (hard to believe people looked down upon them back then, especially their first licenses back then and that they used to do editing)
-Viz Media (probably 2nd biggest in manga after Tokyopop, known for the Shonen Jump titles)
-Tokyopop (Also the biggest manga distributor at the time)
-Central Park Media
-Manga Entertainment
-Rightstuf
-Bandai (known for Gundam, .hack series, Gurran Lagen, etc.)
-Media Blasters/Anime Works (known for Rurouni Kenshin, Magic Knight Rayearth,
-4Kids Entertainment. You have to realize they were prominent back then. (I remember a press release back then in like 2006 or so where they said they would've eventually released their shows like One Piece, Sonic X, Pokemon, etc. uncut just like they tried doing with Yugioh and Shaman King...but of course they didn't get the support. Now they are like nothing.
-Disney (Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki stuffs)

Now there are only about 3 major anime distribution companies now probably as of the beginning of 2013.
-FUNIMATION
-VIZ MEDIA
-Sentai Filmworks
We make fun of Funimation now and call them the tyrants cuz they like license everything now, and are even rereleasing titles previous by dead companies now such as titles by ADV and Geneon. I would've never dreamt the day where Ai Yori Aoshi says FUNIMATION on the box. I call that a travesty.
Bandai is still releasing stuff, but recently they announced they will be ceasing productions by the end of this year. So they are now going to die now!!! It's sad. sad So now it's just those 3 I mentioned, as well as the Studio Ghibli titles by Disney being released still.But as of now Funimation is the biggest in anime, and Viz is the biggest mainly cuz of their manga now, and they are known for anime such as Naruto, Bleach, and Inuyasha.

Oh totally. This one time a really fat kid in kindergarten called me fat. In grade 7 the new kid who sat beside me made some kind of harmless joke and a few other boys like, jumped in and were all HEY, YOU DON'T MAKE FUN OF HER OR WE WILL BEAT YOU. I've had a rough life.

IRL i have a stutter that if i don't pay attention to it gets pretty bad so throughout school i was bullied for that...then i got a big group of friends and it stopped bothering me...also helped i went goth and "scared" people.......lol ^_^
