~Katavi~

User Image

Katavi's, well... kind of a b-word. xD;;

She is a cynical, self-centered and independent beast. Though she is not 'evil' by any means, she is not a very nice lady, either. Her strong beliefs in karma influence her actions towards others, so she may at times seem (deceitfully) kind, trying to avoid a terrible fate. You could say she's a bit delusional. She tries at all times to seek seers to tell her her future. She is very superstitious. She loathes Gods, believing that they are the creators of misery in the world and that they like to play with her fate as though she were an ant to their magnifying glass. (Again, delusional.)

Weakness is something that should never be displayed or even spoken of. Katavi was attacked as a young lioness trying to flee the Mistweaver plague, and now has an injured leg with a very bad limp. Thus, she tries to overcompensate for this weakness by not tolerating it in others, and is not afraid to release a nasty temper on someone who calls her out on being "less" of a lioness.

As a mother, Katavi will cherish her cubs as though they were the true Gods, because they were borne by her. They will be spoiled beyond belief; particularly, if there is a seer cub, who would be treated like a King. While she will have no preference over gender, the first and last born will naturally be treated differently. Otherwise, her cubs will be her babies... probably the only ones other than her brother that she will ever show true affection towards.

~The Siblings~

Iva / Sarei Stargazer / personality TBA (first-born)

Mkali'Rangi / Bloo Starr / personality:

Mkali is a strong willed cub who absolutely loves her mother, thinking she is her one and only hero, and is generally very nice, but she can be tricky and somewhat of a bully towards her siblings sometimes. she has a charm no other can beat, or so she thinks. She can be full of herself, and somewhat stubborn at times.

Alocer / spottedleef / personality:

Deaf. The runt of the litter. Clearly mom's least favorite. How could Alocer have been sooo lucky? No doubt, with his upbringing, he believes it was all brought upon him by unforgiving Gods, perhaps due to a sinful past life. He believes everything his mother does, including belief in the Gods' evil doings, the influence of karma, and even the sacredness of seers.

He's a bit bitter about the way the world has treated him. Yet despite it all, he adores his mother. Unlike her, he is a genuinely tender-hearted, soulful being, and only seeks love and affection from... well, everyone. Being neglected has its repercussions.

Alocer CAN talk, it's just a bit garbled. He is a mouth-reader and can carry a conversation, albeit with some difficulty. If you have any plot ideas outside of this contest for Alocer, please hit me up! I'm very excited about him. <33

Waliovaa'Nafsi / Rennekae / personality:

She will share her mother's proud independence, and harbors a general mistrust of strangers. She is, at times, a bit snarky and condescending, but she also believes in karma and so she is careful not to be outright mean. She is very affectionate to those that she holds dear, so the long time it takes to get close to her is often worth it.

She does not, however, share her mother's hatred of the gods. That is not to be mistaken as fondness; she is merely indifferent to them, believing in their existence but doubting that they have any say in her life. She thinks that the gods have no control over the fate of any creatures with free will.

Giza'Angani / Aurrie Beaues / personality:

Giza is somewhat of a gentle giant. While he is not one to let himself be pushed around completely and will fight to defend himself and his family, he would much rather nuzzle up to his younger siblings. He views himself as big brother, making it his own responsibility to watch out for his siblings and, in general, take care of the family... Even if he isn't the first born. He loves to play and roughhouse, but is generally level headed and hard to fluster. Due to his love for his family, he will probably be one of the last to leave home. He is also somewhat of a momma's boy and a little unsure of what the outside world holds, hence his unwillingness to leave before the rest.

Notes:

Seer cubs would be INCREDIBLY desired by Mama, so if you win... please have them rolled! ;D

Also, Katavi is not affiliated with any pride. The cubs are intended to stay with her until at least adolescence. They are fatherless.

No whining or discouraging others.

Lastly, unless you have a really good plot idea involving a contrasting personality to Kat's, please no surprises. Katavi will raise her cubs with her own beliefs and values, and I expect to see at least a little bit of that in her children.

Contest

Kat is one of my favorite SoA. She is precious to me. Please do not apply for a cub unless you truly intend to RP and plot with me. Katavi's cubs should be a part of her life forever.

That being said, here are the prompts:

Prompt 1:
Quote:
You've noticed your mother is a bit... how to put it... crazy? Gods are inflicting torture on her entire existence, seers are salvation, and karma makes the world go round, in a very literal way. But despite your mother's oddities, these are the beliefs you are raised with - so do you believe them too? How do you handle your mother? Give me a situation in which your cub must deliberate his true beliefs.

Prompt 2:
Quote:
You've noticed that your youngest brother, Alocer, is treated differently than the rest by mom. Being the runt of the litter and also deaf, Alocer is considered "weak" by the rest of the brood, and while mom says she loves him, you sometimes question whether this is really true... Give me a situation in which you must face whether you truly believe your brother is a lesser-than cub.

Prompt 3:
Quote:
You've wandered from the den and have gotten yourself lost. Mom's gonna be mad. Being a cub of Katavi's, it is important to always be proving yourself as worthy so as not to lose her favor, which seems to alter by the day. Now you're in a serious rut. How do you find yourself home, and how do you handle mom's reaction?

Prompt 4:
Quote:
Your sister Iva is the first-born, and most resembles your mother in markings. Thus, she is pick of the litter in Katavi's eyes, and her ultimate golden child out of the seven. How does this make you feel? How do you try to get your mother's love and attention when she can make you feel so worthless? Give me a scenario.

ENTRY!

Your Name: LexThetaSigma
Preference Order: 2, 1
Cub's Name: Acaph
Meaning: Hebrew for collector or gatherer

Personality: Acaph adores his mother's teachings and takes every word she says to heart thus he has become very superstitious. He believes in karma and do everything he can to say on the right side and not have his karma turn bad. This has led to him collecting many things, such as hare's feet, for good luck. He does his best to make necklaces out of them with whatever he can find and tries to make his siblings and his mother all wear hare's feet necklaces. He also has her values when it comes to weakness and will try to prove himself the strongest; he will go out and hunt the hares himself for his trinkets, and do his best to bring the biggest ones back to his mother so she can see what a good and strong hunter he is.

Prompt #: 1
Prompt Response: Acaph huffed; he didn't know what in the world that other lion had been talking about! His mother was NOT crazy! There was something out there that was messing with their fate, he knew there was! His mother wouldn't tell him about karma and fate and Gods messing with them if it wasn't true. Would she?

Then again, he looked over at his baby brother, if karma caused bad and good things to happen to others because of what they do, why was Alocer so little and why couldn't he hear? What had he done that had caused his karma to be horrible enough to cause him not to hear their momma or their siblings or anything? He was just a cub, same as Acaph, he hadn't had the chance to do anything that would give him bad luck or karma.

Was his mother wrong? Had everything he had been taught been wrong? He looked at his mother, surrounded by his siblings. Then he looked down at his hare's foot necklace. If she had bad karma, would she have had all of them, wouldn't they have all been like Alocer if she had bad karma? Would he have so much luck hunting if he didn't wear his necklace? It had to be true! It had to be!

Acaph huffed once again before joining the pile of cubs near his mother and did his best to get up by her head to nuzzle and lick at her cheek. After all if he was nice to her, she would be nice to him so not to change their fate. After all Momma knows best!

Plot Ideas: I'd like for him to grow up in full belief of all of his mother's ways and have to struggle with how she treats others because of it, particularly his baby brother. I'd like for him to loose his hare's necklace and it makes him think that his karma has changed because he's not hunting as well as he used to. I'd eventually like him, probably at adolescence, to meet someone that would challenge him and attempt to make him understand that he is the one who can change his fate, not karma, not superstition, or anything else except his decisions. This would be hard for him to accept, especially as he continued to live with his mother. He would bring this idea up to her to see what she would have to say about it, because he would still be fighting to believe as he had when he was a cub that she knows best. Eventually it will grow to be too much for him, late adolescence/early adulthood, and he will leave his mother to go off on his own, possibly to a pride.

Comments?: Everyone in the family looks amazing and if I win, I would adore plotting with you and all the siblings! Thank you for the opportunity to win one of the cubs.

CaliWolfe

Shy Prophet

PostPosted: Thu Nov 29, 2012 7:26 pm

ENTRY!

Your Name: CaliWolfe
Preference Order: 1, 2
Cub's Name: Njabulo
Meaning: Zulu for Happy.
Personality: As his name implies, he is a happy child. Wants to make everyone else happy, and see everyone getting along. He also believes strongly in karma, which feeds more into his quest of everyone treating each other equally. Other then that he is soothed by the sound of music and finds himself drawn near it. Or anything that creates a nice sound.
Prompt #: 3
Prompt Response:

This was bad... Really, really bad. Mom was going to be so mad with him! Of all the times he had wandered away from home, all the times he had followed little sounds, and of all the sunny days when he could have seen better; he had to get lost today. When it was raining and he couldn't see properly. All he wanted to do was find where that sound was coming from. There was no harm in that, was there? Just follow a little sound and run back home. Usually that was all he did when he wandered away from home. But today, oh brilliant him decided he couldn't scurry off without finding the source of the sound. Which had led him farther and farther away from home until he gave up on finding the sound and started to wander back. Then it started raining, and all the scents of mom and his siblings had been washed away... He had unknowingly walked in circles for who knew how long... And now, he was lost. Really lost. So lost he wasn't sure if he'd ever be found!
"Mom?" He called out. A fruitless attempt to be rescued.

He knew it. Was he ever going to be found? Was he going to have to raise himself? Be a jungle boy who knew nothing about civilization and couldn't talk to anyone because he had forgotten how over the years? Someone who-
He rose his head sharply. Was that? A sound? He waited paitently for the sound to be heard again... Yes! He hadn't been hearing things!

He knew the sound too. It was the voice of one of his siblings who always talked louder than the rest. So even though 'bulo couldn't see well, he still headed off in the direction of the sound. Avoiding tree's as they happened to pop up and block his path. Was he really that blind? Appearently so. Ignoring that and worrying about it later, he continued tromping through mud puddle after mud puddle until he was able to sniff out scents that reminded him of home. Following after them until they became powerful, all the while listening to the voices of his family.

Mom was probably so mad right now. Ready to yell at him for the next three days about how he had gotten lost stupidly. Even so, he didn't care. He was much to happy to care. Because he had found home by himself. Nobody had to come rescue him, he had done it all on his own. Knowing that, he happily rushed over to the den. Even the most horrid punishment mom could deal him wouldn't ruin his mood for the day.

Plot Ideas: He'll wander away from the den a lot, just to follow little noises that he finds soothing and wonderful. Eventually, one day he'll come back with a little bell that he'll find and proudly wear for the rest of his life. At that point he'll be more cautious of adventuering and feel more compelled to stay at home and try to smooth things out between Alocer and his mom. Though it will mostly be failed attempts and him just trying to please both of them without getting on either of their bad sides.
It's also a possiblity that he'll go blind in the future. Not completely, but enough that all he can see is blurry shapes moving around. This will cause him to have expert hearing so he can make up for the lack of sight. His desire to hear music will increase at that point and he'll start adventuring again. Only to get horribly lost while trying to find his way back home.
Comments?: Thank you for holding this awesome contest!

Your Name: Shia bean
Preference Order: 1, 2
Cub's Name: Kamau
Meaning: Google says 'Silent Warrior'!
note: If possible, we could assume that Katavi struggled a bit with Kamau during labor, due to size or other complications, and once conceived he did not cry out like most newborns do. Might explain why she calls him that, since the meaning outside of this situation might not stand so strongly? (READ ON. Kind of crazy)
Personality: Smart, curious, open minded, perfectionist, violent, blunt...

Torturing bugs seemed like the type of thing every cub dappled in and fussed over. For most, it was the sort of activity that would someday benefit him; A superb hunter, readying himself for the wild. A father would be proud! In his situation with Katavi, Kamau hoped, she would be even more so than that. But his techniques and his odd fascination with death seemed…off.

It is not something he understands, but it will someday be a fate he comes to accept. In his youth, this darkness will only be evident in moments that are watched closely. There will be many times when he plays with his brothers and sisters, rolls in the dirt to keep cool or curls against his mother for warmth; and in each will be subtle hints of his future self. Play fights will become real, a test of strength and an observance of limitations, and meals, like all the bugs he has ever gored and ripped into, turned into unrecognizable corpses; innards sectioned into categories. This will be his variation of ‘fun’.; his way of learning. Kamau will deceive himself; believe that everything he does is normal and sane even when others question him.

But someday, he will accept his fate.

Socially Kamau will be quiet yet unfiltered. This is not to say he is shy, but just a loner of sorts. And if he is approached and questioned about his activities, he will gladly share with you whatever it is he is doing. Even if it is not the answer one might have been looking for, or more likely, the answer they hoped was not directly in front of them.

More would come with time and RP! It can be assumed that Kamau loves his mother and would do anything for her, and feels an equally strong bond with his siblings. This can all change with time, however, and how RP’s play out!

Prompt #: Prompt 4: Your sister Iva is the first-born, and most resembles your mother in markings. Thus, she is pick of the litter in Katavi's eyes, and her ultimate golden child out of the seven. How does this make you feel? How do you try to get your mother's love and attention when she can make you feel so worthless? Give me a scenario.

Prompt Response:

It had been a gift, torn from the very chest of his catch some time ago when Kamau dared to wander a short distance from the family. He had given it to his mother anonymously, a show of his skill and capability, hidden in the foliage beside where she had settled herself. He was certain she would know it was from him and perhaps she would understand what it meant; love, the sort he found difficult to express in any other way.

He planned it perfectly, waiting for her to come forth. Kamau was younger then, relying on his idea of love and not what he knew best of it. In that moment, he was confident.

Yet, despite his effort the organ went unnoticed; stepped past for the sake of Iva’s safety. His older sister had cried out in the distance, Katavi rising frantically from her sleep to seek out her eldest daughter. Not even the ripest of scents would take her off of Iva's trail. Not even her son's dark form sitting proudly in front of her would divert Katavi from that mission at hand.

{ Kamau shifted in place, the memory summoning a tiny smile across his lips. From where he had positioned himself by Katavi's face, the cub could see every one of his siblings; all of them fast asleep and unaware. }

Kamau knew better now. A little older, a little wiser they say. The failure was nothing but a confirmation of assumptions. Mother had done that for him. The heart hadn't gone unnoticed, she simply acted as if it had. Yes. The distance she kept, the suffocation she chose not to subject him to; Katavi knew what kind of cub he was, and like the ultimate mother she had become--she understood. She accepted it. And her love was in those fleeting glances he would catch every now and then, her blues finding his in any given moment, for only a moment.

{ Again he shifted in place, this time to gather something up in his paws. It smelled fresh, and had pooled a dark liquid at the base of his tail. }

Iva could have her affection.

{ Exposing the object to his sleeping mother, Kamau let the smell of ripe meat carry into her snout, waiting for the twitch of recognition. }

Kamau knew his mother loved him. She had to. It was more evident now than ever before. He did not need to show it anymore...right?

{ Splitting the object in half with a single bite, Kamau would leave a piece beside his mother. His portion would be swallowed whole. }

She loved him. She had to love him. He had agreed with himself that more could be said in a look than in a thousand words.

{ She may have said it aloud. She may have whispered it. She may not have said it at all...but what Kamau thought he heard forced him to take a step back. Suddenly his face began to twist in a mixture of emotions, mostly confused, taking several steps back until he was up against the tree they used for shelter this night.

He said it in his head, before repeating it out loud. 'Iva?' Wondering...why...why her?

He stared at the heart left a short distance away, and then watched the rise and fall of Katavi's chest as she rested beside it. Like his siblings, she was blissfully unaware. }

Mother loved him...she had to. No matter who her favorites were...And she would know it was his this time. The trail of bloodstained paw prints led only to him. Come morning...she would know. She would have to know.

(( Italics = Past
{ } = Present.
I know it's weird. ;; ))

Plot Ideas: I’d love for Katavi to be very hesitant of her son Kamau, but to be aware of his nature and of just how unstable he is. Perhaps because she knows she can be a little crazy too? And perhaps because she’s in some sort of denial over his dysfunctional behavior? Either his actions will be enabled by her blind love for him as her son, OR someday she’ll push him away because he gets to be too much. The latter would devastate him, and cause for some srs drama in his life I’m sure. WHATEVER WORKS IDK.
Comments?: Good luck everyone! <3 And thank you for giving us the opportunity to join the FAMILLLYYY

(Just as a heads up, I used both Alocer and Iva in my prompt response. Alocer because the prompt revolves around him, and Iva because she has no personality listed yet, so I felt a little more comfortable writing her a tiny bit. Of course they are basically just filler and have no bearing on the actual characters, seeing as they aren't mine and I don't know them!)

Your Name: Ruskea Koira
Preference Order: 1, 2
Cub's Name: Balozi
Meaning: Ambassador
Personality: Balozi is... cold. That is the most accurate way to describe him. He does not betray much emotion and indeed it is difficult to tell if he even feels any. As he grows older he will learn to act and manipulate others, to forge "relationships", although they will only ever be for his own personal benefit. The single exception to this is Katavi, who is his personal god (although obviously he would never phrase it as such.) Her sometimes cold treatment does not faze him in the least. He idolizes her and follows in her footsteps. The only way he does not emulate her is his lack of belief in karma. Balozi believes only in the here and now; if something benefits him, even if it hurts another, then it is worth it.
Prompt #: 2
Prompt Response: "Alocer," the cub said sharply, without thinking. He reprimanded himself silently when it elicited no response from his brother, who had his back turned, lightly prodding at something on the ground. Balozi growled to himself, lashing his tail. He found trying to communicate with his brother immensely frustrating; he could not always be in front of him to gain his attention. With another low grumble under his breath he moved closer, flicking his tail against Alocer's back. The other cub startled slightly, but swung to look at him with a tentative smile.

"Look," he said with that strange inflection with which he spoke, lifting his paw to point at the ground in front of him. Balozi leaned forward to see. In front of the dark, speckled cub was a frog, resting placidly with not a care in the world. "He's nice," Alocer continued, flicking an ear nervously. He and Balozi had never exactly seen eye to eye; if anything, Balozi was something of a bully because Alocer was such an easy target. "Want to play with us?"

Balozi opened his mouth to reply, but before he could get anything out, he heard his sister's voice ring out. "Play with him? Really, Balozi? Is that what you're stooping to?"

He spun around to face Iva, bristling slightly. Why would she make that assumption? He'd only just stumbled upon Alocer and his stupid frog. It wasn't as though she had found him actively engaging in a game. "Of course not," he growled at her, narrowing his eyes. "He was acting weird so I came to check it out, that's all."

Iva smirked at him tauntingly. "Oh yeah? Prove it. Leave your best friend behind and come play with me and Waliovaa'Nafsi instead. She found a nest of mice and we're going to practice our hunting skills. Or would you rather stick around and kiss frogs?"

Balozi's fur fluffed up with irritation at his sister's taunt, but he had to admit she had a point. He had nothing to gain by spending time with Alocer, but with his sisters he could sharpen his youthful hunting skills and perhaps win some favor with them, which might prove useful later in life. His cast a brief glance at his brother, whose ears had drooped and was looking away, already aware of what his answer would be, before looking back at Iva.

"Of course." He padded after her, leaving Alocer alone, again.

Plot Ideas: No idea, but you know me, I'm open to plotting!
Comments?: Katavi cubs! >w< I'm so excited you got them!

Your Name: Draconicfeline
Preference Order: Cub 2 over Cub 1
Cub's Name: Noe'za
Meaning: No meaning that I know of. I just like the sound.
Personality: Noe is insecure in himself. He doesn't feel that he can ever be good enough: smart enough, strong enough, or fit enough- for his mother. He doesn't believe that it's possible. What he is good at- and knows it- is pretending. He is a good liar and a bit of an actor.
Noe is quick to laugh and a bit silly, occasionally getting himself into stupid situations just to make others laugh. When he's upset or in trouble, he just laughs it off.
He thinks that Giza is the best big brother ever, and follows him like a shadow. If he were forced to leave his brother, then he might be even more unsure of himself...
Essentially, Noe'za is a liar, a clown, and a charmer
Prompt #: 3
Prompt Response: Noe'za was exploring the area nearby when he had an idea.
"Hey Giza! Giza! Look at me!"
Noe'za did a backflip which would have been impressive if he had landed on his legs. Instead, he landed on his side.
"Ahahaha!" he looked behind him to see if his brother was laughing too, then stopped cold.
Giza wasn't there.
Noe'za looked around. "Giza?"
No response. He was alone. He made a full turn.
He didn't recognize ANYTHING. Noe's heart began to pound as he realized that he must have gotten separated at some point... and it was later than he had thought it was.
He had been lost in thought- about karma, actually- and he supposed that was why he had gotten lost.
No problem, he just had to retrace his steps... except... he had gotten all turned around when he had surveyed his surroundings, and he couldn't see his pawprints.
That wasn't good. He had gotten lost. Mom would be really upset with him. He'd laugh it off later- not in her person- but he didn't like it when she was upset. It hurt to have her upset...
Noe'za sat down, trying to collect himself even though his heart was like a bird fluttering around in his chest.
Okay. The way to keep mom from being upset was to make it all look impressive and intentional. He wasn't good at a lot of things, but he knew he was good at acting. He just had to... find something.
But what?
He decided to leave it up to his good karma and just keep walking until he either found home, a way home, or something to prove his worth to his mother. He could smell something interesting up ahead, and being a curious kit, he decided to go forward.
The first thing he noticed as he entered the clearing was he actually knew this clearing. Great! He could get home from here!
The second thing he noticed was the sleek white and blue lion leaning against a stone, eyes closed.
"Hello?" asked Noe'za, approaching with slight caution.
The lion opened it's eyes and looked at Noe'za as if the cub wasn't there. There was something unnerving in his eyes. Noe'za giggled at the feeling, and the lion shook once.
"Oh. Hello, little cub. My apologies. I was in a vision..."
Noe'za giggled a bit more, "Really?! Are you a seer, mister?"
"Yes." Answered the lion matter of factly, if a bit cautiously.
Noe'za was overjoyed, and pranced a bit. This was perfect. It was late, and mom woudl be upset at him for getting lost, but she loved seers! He could lie and say he was guided to the seer. Or not even say that. She'd be so distracted that he would get away with having been lost and weak! Noe'za smiled his most charming smile and pranced forward with that special energy that cubs have.
"Come on, Mister! It's getting late, and my Mom'd love to meet you!"
Plot Ideas: Well, I'll roll him as a Seer... however, if I get him I'd want him to hang around Alocer a lot. Other than that? I like coming up with these things IC.

Your Name: L1m3_gr33n_sh4rp13
Preference Order: 2, 1
Cub's Name: Cynebeald
Meaning: Anglo-Saxon name meaning, "Royal Brave"
Personality: Cyne is calm and seems very polite and kindly to others. He takes after his mom a bit in being very manipulatively sweet and kind to others. He is genuinly kind and affectionate toward his siblings though and will always try to be a protector to his siblings, no matter his age or the situation.
To strangers, he is deceptively kind and sweet. He uses his charm to lull them into a sense of security and while he never purposefully brings harm upon another, he will use a random person for whatever he can and then promptly disappear without a trace.
He has some slight issues, the first being he is very persistent in trying to get mothers attention and wants to be her favorite. In the event he doesn't get a seer roll, I think it would be fun to have him try to fake being a seer, especially if one of his siblings actually wins their roll. He loves his mother more than anyone else and wants to have her approval for everything, so even when he becomes an adult, he will still not likely ever be too far from her and will always come to her for advice and to help fix his problems.
Prompt #: 4
Prompt Response:
Even though he hated her for being the favorite, at the moment anyway, Cyne still loved his sister Iva. She was the eldest and she was his blood. But there was a part of him that boiled with rage, no matter how unobservable the rage was, every time mother seemed to play favorites with Iva and treat her differently. His coat looked almost identical to mothers and in a big way Cyne envied her. It was almost irritating how much more attention Iva got.

Cyne just anted to be mother's favorite. While he loved all his siblings, even Mkali who was a bully and way too into herself, he thought he was the best of the best. Just because he did not look like mother did not mean he was unworthy of the title of favorite. And her being first born? Hah! She was just lucky to have been born first. But that was all it was, luck. There was no wit or cunning involved, or else Cyne would have made himself the first born. Then her coat, that was pure chance. Pure chance that she was born to look just like mom. But then what about Walioova? She was basically a spitting image of mother, only with slight variations in color. But she wasn't a favorite.

It wasn't really fair, but then again, the world was not fair. This must have been the Gods doing Cyne decided. Punishing him for something or maybe they were just being unfair and cruel. Maybe they say his potential for greatness and feared it, so they were trying to force him down, make him lose confidence. Gods were evil and unjust, unrightfully given amazing powers and size. Mother was a good lioness, yet she was not a God.

Then a thought hit him. Was Iva maybe a seer? Had mother realized perhaps one of them had the ability? This made the young cub twitch in irritation at the thought. It should be him! He told himself quietly. He should be the one with the sight, so for all time he could stay with mother and tell her her fortune, her future. How amazing would it be to be her favorite for all of time? And if he had managed to be a seer perhaps then his future cubs might also be seers, that would make mother even happier.

But he was not a seer, or at least he did not think he was... He had to know if Iva was. If she was a seer he had to make her see if he would ever get the ability himself. If not, then he would have to find a way to make Iva less favored or make himself even better than silly Iva in mothers eyes.

That was when he decided. He would wander off a bit and find some mud and maybe berries or bright plants and make himself look like mother. Blue colored plants and berried couldn't be too hard to find and he remembered seeing black mud sometime back down the path they came. So for now he would try this method, making himself look like mother and Iva, and later he would figure out a way to make himself a seer, or perhaps pretend to be one to make himself more favored than Iva...

Plot Ideas: I think it might be fun to have him become a manipulative manwhore as an adult, always trying to knock up willing ladies. While he won't stick around to raise them, he will reappear once they are born and look for signs of any seer cubs, and if he finds them, he will likely bring them back to Katavi as an attempt to become her favorite even though he is no longer a cub. And maybe perhaps he could attempt to woo a Goddess in mortal form, not realizing it's a goddess and then be all like "oh snap jackpot. Seer cubs everywhere" and then bring them back to momma and be so proud of himself.
Comments?: Congratz on the cubs Spotted, Katavi is an awesome character with such interesting quirks and depth and if I am so lucky as to win one of her sons, you can bet I will pester you, and all the siblings, for rp to help me develop the cubs personality and beliefs.

Your Name: Lethrossen
Preference Order: 1, 2
Cub's Name: Dubwanakago
Meaning: giant magic
Personality:
From the very beginning is seen as a huge momma's boy. "Mother said..." "If we do that mother would be furious..." and will not grow out of this when he gets older. He is not beyond making his siblings look bad so that favor may shine on him. He will constantly be paranoid about having bad karma due to this, once he begins to understand it. When he feels secure and well loved by his mother he is actually quite nice and loving towards his siblings. And although he is not beyond making them look bad by putting them in foolish situations, I doubt he would ever wish bodily harm on them unless he really broke down or flipped out or something.

He will slowly become equally obsessed with seers and even if he doesn't have the gift he may begin to fake it to please his mother. Everything he does will be to please mother, whether he grows out of this or not will be up to time. He's not exactly a bratty cub by any means, even though he could be considered thus, he's just intelligent and crafty and realizes that somethings need to be done if he wants his mother's love. The only thing that will differ almost instantly from his mother's influence would be her hatred of gods. He will be curious of their powers and influence over mortals. Knowing this would probably infuriate his mother, it is something he does not voice often (or never to her).

In short he will be confident but constantly questioning if he's good enough, have a screwed up sense of what love for others really is and a bit addicted to being like others (as in he will not have a very good idea of who he is, instead choosing to pick traits, ideals & beliefs from those around him).

Prompt #: 4
Prompt Response:

Kago knew, even at a very young age, that to be loved and adored by anyone was something very special, and very much a good goal to have as a lion. But what he wanted more than anything was not for his brothers' and sisters' love and admiration, for those were the only lions he knew so far in his little life, but for the total adoration of his mother. He realized very quickly that to be in her favor meant the world, and he was not like to forget it any time soon. So to live each day and see that Iva was the favorite so far irritated him to no end! It made him feel troubled and nervous, and each day he could understand that his mother did not love him best made him feel sick to his stomach. Something would have to change, he'd decided.

He liked Iva, as well as the rest of his siblings; well enough... but he loved mother most. If he loved mother most she should feel the same, that was just what was fair and right. So far though he hadn't been able to determine why mother liked Iva best... there were three known facts. She'd been born first, which there was nothing he could do about. She might have even been a seer, which Mother spoke of often enough and seemed to love and admire as well. If she was one... well he didn't know how he could top that accept for being one also. He wasn't even sure if he knew what a seer really was, so he'd ignore it for the time being (and he guessed it really wasn't a fact at all). Lastly... Iva looked most like mother and he envied her very much because of it. He looked very much like mother too... but still not as good. Looks were something he could work with though, if he thought hard enough.

Once he found Iva and enticed her to come along and play with him he led her quite a ways from the family. He kept up with constant reminders that everything would be okay, mother wouldn't be angry and they'd be back to their den soon. Sneaking away had been the hard part, was what Kago kept reminding himself. Once he determined they were far enough away he bumped his head into Iva's side. "Hey Iva, would you like to play hunter and prey?" Which was when one lion counted and waited for all of the others to hide, of course.

He liked playing 'hunter' because that was the better thing to be, obviously. As he started to count he peaked a few times, as discreetly as he could. Once he saw Iva moving off his counting trailed off. "Ready or not, here I come~" He called out, with a hint of something not so playful in his voice. After that he suddenly took off, racing back home.

Hopefully Iva would not be able to follow, and he would leave her out there for a while. Then mother would be horrifically angry with her... and wouldn't love her as much anymore! But before he got far he heard Iva scream, yelling out his name. He tripped as he turned to look in surprise, grunting as he hit the ground hard. She was racing right past him! What in the name of gods was going on? She was screaming for him to get up, and as he did so he was greeted with a terrifying sight. A hyena, younger than an adult but older then them, was laughing wildly and headed straight for them. Mixed with the terrifying yells of Iva; You were going to leave me! You were abandoning me to him! it was probably the most unnerving sounds he'd ever heard. He was able to get up and race after his sister, but with each glance over his shoulder he could see the hyena getting closer.

This was bad! Mother would be pissed if they got eaten! And what if he got eaten and Iva got caught and~! He didn't want to think about it! Iva suddenly screeched again, and as he whipped his head back forward he crashed right into her, yowling with pain. Another Hyena had approached from the front, and he thought maybe he heard the laughter of a third. They were surrounding them, but he couldn't fathom what was going on. His little limbs were trembling as he rose to his paws, huddled close to Iva.

"I didn't mean for this to happen!" He cried out, also turning in a slow circle. Suddenly a hyena lunged forward and all that he could think was to protect his sister, even if she was mother's favorite. There was no way he'd ever get to be the favorite if he let Iva die out here. He gave the weakest of roars; laughable at his size and age, and launched himself at the face of the hyena, claws extended.

What came next... was remarkable. A louder, more fierce roar echoed his and suddenly mother was over them, snapping and swatting at the young hyenas! He wasn't sure how long it took for her to scare them off, or when he started crying or even when she'd gotten them back to the den. He just remembered his repeated cries of, "I didn't mean it, I didn't mean to do that..."

He was sure he would remember this failure most of his life, but he also knew it taught him that he'd have to be craftier than that. He wouldn't give up... especially since Iva did not tell on him. No, he'd get his day in the sun.

Plot Ideas
- Eventual interaction with gods when he is older, maybe even for him to fall in love with one.
- Maybe the betrayal of said god, which would cause him to switch to his mother's views on the immortals.
- some sort of injury that would result in a weakness, which he would despise himself for.
- interaction with his siblings, both good and bad, and how they deal with it. For instance, he might try and make Iva look bad a lot more often than he'd do so to Alocer, because he doesn't see Alocer as a threat. (And if any of them are seers and he doesn't actually have the gift... ooh will they have to watch their backs!)
- If he does not turn out to be a seer I would like for his mother to eventually find out that he's been lying about being able to see the future.
- events which force him into understanding that he isn't that great of a lion, and the struggle with if he wants to change his ways or stay the same.

Comments?
Awesome litter, and I love Katavi. I think a long time ago we were going to have her & Fedha meet (My mistie seer who's manipulative and a fairly bad guy, but not an evil guy [eeer though I guess that could be questioned haha]). If you still wanted to do this, it could prove to be interesting. He's finally studying other seers and such so IDK if any of them will be seers but just throwing it out there for some interaction, if you'd like. (I also think Alocer is genius.)

Cub's Name: Sinzuri
Meaning: "not nice" in Swahili
Personality:
Sin is not nice, which is generally a nice way of putting it. As a cub he is rather overtly unkind, using brute strength and childish means of bullying for manipulation or mere enjoyment. He takes pleasure in being mean, in short, which is a terrible way for a cub to be. Though his mother's opinion means very highly to him, he is not fazed by his sister's exalted position within the litter. It is how it is, at least so far as their cubhood is concerned. His cruel nature is not exclusive to outsiders and, unfortunately, Alocer tends to get the brunt of his mean-spiritedness. Bugs, birds and small prey items are used willy nilly to serve his every whim, and though he seems to be headed towards a diagnosis of psychopath, his cruelty will eventually level out.

As an adult, Sin will be disappointed to find that his large size as a cub does not extend to his adulthood. He is smaller than average, but his brain has compensated the loss. He is manipulative and cunning, with only vague concern for others outside family loyalty. As he grows, his devotion to his mother and her ways will solidify. She is his rock and her gods are his sky – which of course means a renewed relationship with his siblings, including Alocer. Sin is the type of lion who, if found in a tribal hierarchal setting, would rise ruthlessly through the ranks and take his family with him. Consider the Borgias and other influential families in the Renaissance: once power is obtained, weave a web of it through your relatives. Out in the roguelands, that translates to finding meat when none can be brought down or cheating travelers out of pretty trinkets to appease his sisters and mother. Sin is too full of himself to ever feel useless, though he is occasionally and briefly put down when and if his mother ignores his efforts or puts him down. Like a blade of grass bending beneath the rock as it rolls, he can hardly help himself.

Its rather doubtful, thusly, that Sin will ever leave his family by choice and he will look very poorly upon any siblings who do otherwise. Particularly without mother's permission.
Prompt #: 2
Prompt Response:
The stupid cub had wandered off, or left behind –which Sinzuri supposed would not be entirely his fault, but honestly, how stupid could you be not to notice your entire family had moved on and left you? The dark cub was not even entirely sure why he cared at all, but he knew mother would be cross and a mother cross was no good for anybody. Except Iva, maybe, but Iva was immune to all the changing storms of their maternal guardian's temperament save sunny days and gentle rains, so that was a moot point. All Sin knew was an unhappy Katavi meant he might not have more for dinner than what he could catch himself, or she would generally be in such a snippy mood that he might not want to stick around for the provided meal anyway.

Calling out for Alocer was useless, of course, since his ears were the most pointless point of his anatomy. Sin was not a hundred percent sure when deafness became an excuse for lameness, or idiocy, but that was that. There was no explaining the situation, not to a satisfying end. Alocer was deaf, and that included some idiocy along the way – they all just had to grin, bear it, and clean up after him. That including hunting him down when he wandered off – or was left, but that was such an excuse it annoyed Sin. Wandering off at least implied his brother had some means of mobility and gumption, whereas being left behind was such a pathetic scenario that not even he could lay that at his mother's paws by way of explanation. No, no; better to say his brother wandered off on his own witless whim than emphasize his weakness. The things he did for family…

Sin plunged through the brush, keeping a sharp bright eye out for any flash of his brother's dark hide. The shadows were the most difficult to penetrate visually, but he managed. It took some time of padding his way over the dirt to follow along the trail they had made, but he did eventually lay eyes on a flash of black pelt and teal markings. He was coming up from behind his brother so had yet to make actual eye contact, but he recognized his sibling enough that as he came up to him he swiped out with a heavy paw and retracted claw to knock the smaller cub off his feet with a swift push to the rump. Once Alocer's attention was secured, Sin leered over him with a lip pulled back in a vicious snarl – or at least so far as viciousness went on a cub's muzzle, "Stop wandering off, you waste of space. Let's go before mother notices." And that was that; Sin veritably chased his brother back down the path to where their family rested, baring tooth and claw and no sympathy for the garbled protests of his sibling about something or another he had seen back down the way. Honestly, it all gave Sin such a headache.
Plot Ideas: I think I laid it out pretty well in his personality, but his plot ideas follow his mother's whims. I could see him possibly bringing home a girl and maybe Mom doesn't approve, but he keeps the girl around as a sort of personal valet or slave or something to make himself feel better about the rejection – though he would blame the female anyway. Honestly, why couldn't she just be everything he and his mother ever wanted? I could also see some strange contemptuous love-snark fests between Sinzuri and Alocer. Or, well, Sinzuri and the air around Alocer since his brother wouldn't hear any of it. Alocer would probably end up becoming Sin's personal receptor of rants whether he liked it or not. Preference Order: 2, 1
Cub's Name: Zuberi
Meaning: Strong
Personality: Zuberi isn’t unkind, despite popular belief. He just has a sort of… problem. Due to the proverbial Sun Throne his mother had held them on since birth, the poor cub has come under a severe impression that he, Zuberi, was second to no one. In fact, even if Gods did exist(in his poor, befuddled mind), even they would stare in awe at him. According to himself, he was quite seriously the Gods gift to the world. And he believed himself absolutely perfect.

Due to such arrogance, he has gotten into a scuffle or two. Not that he’s complaining. Raised to believe the weak are inferior, Zuberi is more than happy to prove himself the strongest. Paired with competitiveness, a natural possessiveness occurs. As it was, he’s not a cub who’d enjoy sharing his bone.

Despite all of this, he holds his mother high in his eyes. And, henceforth, has a natural inclination towards females to be gentle- albeit, still arrogant. He won’t harm a female, regardless of the situation, nor will he run away. This is bound to give him complications in the future.
Prompt #: #3 (though, I think I will apply a little bit of the others, if that’s alright. smile )
Prompt Response: The horizon slowly grew darker.
Zuberi stared disdainfully at the moon rising up, ears pressed back, tail tucked. No, no, no! It was nearly night and he still hadn’t found his way back! Oh, how he wished he hadn’t wandered off. Why, if it weren’t for Iva… A slight growl escaped his throat.

Not being first born, in Zeburi’s eyes, was ultimately disgraceful. He felt as though he lost a competition, had come out as a loser. And if there was one thing the cub hated the most, it was losing. Due to these minor details, Zeburi saw his sister, Iva, as a sort of a… rival. He cann’t stand losing to her and, since he felt uncomfortable with even the idea of fighting a girl, he had to become creative in the competition. Today, it was racing. At least, in his mind, he was racing. Thinking back on it, a look of confusion had passed her face when he sprinted past her.

Well, due to his sudden need to beat her, he had rushed past her and hadn’t stop, thinking she was close behind, until he had well lost sight of them. Only when his sides were heaving had he slowed down and realized himself alone and utterly lost.

Zuberi glared at the stars that were starting to peek out before moving once more. His mother can’t possibly know he was lost. If she did… tears nearly filled the cubs eyes, causing him to growl and force them back. Strong lions did NOT cry. He would find home and he’ll tell her… he’ll tell her something. His mind scrambled about, trying to think exactly what he would tell her.
As he walked, he saw a familiar tree or rock every now and then. His excitement mounted, however, when he saw the entrance to their home, however. He nearly ran straight there until he spotted something emerging from his right. Looking over, he spotted Alocer. His eyes widened as he watched his disabled brother lumber back towards their home. And idea suddenly occurred to Zeburi.

Although he love his family, even with rivalry and such, he was very confused around Alocer. Alocer made him uncomfortable, being weak and all, and yet, also made him very possessive. Due to these mixed emotions, Zeburi(as a cub), would often pick on Alocer. And he was also convenient to use to get out of trouble.

Quickly, the cub fell into step with his brother, casting a grin at the other. When his mother came into view up ahead, he let out a happy yip before coming forth.

”It nearly took me all day but I found Alocer!” He glanced over at Iva and gave her a snide look.

Zeburi hated to lose.

Plot Ideas: Oooooh, I have soooo many!!!

With Katavi:
(as a Cub) -Attempting to impress his mother with various found objects.
-Ventures to find out his worth in his mother’s eyes.
-Wants to visit a seer for the first time with Katavi.
(As an adolescent) –Ventures to ask about the limp.
-Gives a few Talisman that supposedly ‘protect’ against Gods
(As an Adult) –Tries to persuade his mother to stay away from all potential suitors(he doesn’t believe anyway is good enough for Katavi)

With Iva: -lots of rivalry competitions
-Confrontation
-Maybe his rivalry slowly evolves into admiration?
With Alocer: -Teasing him
-Protecting him from other Lions
-Following him around, worried
-The get stuck and they try to get out, making Zeburi more gentle with his brother?

Comments?: Gosh, the personalities of the cubs and Katavi are drool-worthy! *q*
