Tribe Ermendrud aka the Mountain Tribe
Ermendrud: Derived from the Germanic elements ermen "whole, universal" and þruþ "strength".
Welcome sisters, to the mountain tribe Ermendrud. We are true to our Goddess, and true to our ways. We will prevail, and stay true to everything She has ever given us. We stand true and strong in the face of everything that threatens us.
Note: Please post OOC info in brackets (( )) or [[ ]] in the thread~ <3

Valkyrie! We figured we'd point out some aspects of the race to explain things better! Valkyries above all else, think males as being the weaker sex. The strongest, most honored male is still lower than the weakest, craven of a female. They will ALWAYS side with the females. Valkyries have a power which entices men, making males fall in love with them, or at least lust for them. This is a power blessed by their Goddess, to aide them in life and their struggles. They believe they are a band of sisters, a family. They protect each other. This doesn't mean they don't disagree or hate each other, it just means they consider everyone family of sorts. You can hate your family! Once upon a time the valks viewed mating as a weakness. The only exception was to mate a fellow female warrior. However, the Goddess Synthia has spread word herself, letting the Valkyrie know that the old ways must be abolished and a new path forged. A male may yet make himself worthy through a challenging ceremony that both the male and his potential mate must go through in order to prove themselves worthy still. Any valk that mates to a male outside of his ceremony does not have the Goddess' blessing, and will be cast out of the tribe. Combat valks have armor, non-combat valks do not have armor. Typically, the ones in armor are the fighters, while the rest take care of everything else. Aka historians, messengers, temple workers, etc. One type of valk is not considered better than the other type; all aspects are needed to make life run smoothly. The difference between an ebil gal and a neutral gal is hard to tell. Mostly, it's how they treat the males. Ebil ones will treat them as slaves, and tend to be a little more abusive to the male meat. Neutral gals will treat them as servants and pets, and will be stern, but generally nice to them. In a weird sort of way. Ebil valks are considered fiercer, wild, and quick to leap before they look, while the neutral ones are calmer, and look before they leap... while taking their time to do so! Non-female valks running around the homeland tend to be the offspring of valk/male or valk/nonvalk relations. They are often pitied and treated like family pets or children. Not that they're treated bad, it's just sad they didn't get to be valks. Males are never allowed in the temple. Valks are the only ones who get to work in the temple. Other females can come in to pray, meditate, and speak to the goddess, but only valkyries can handle anything holy.

AegleAegle is the daughter of the Goddess Synthia and a mortal. Sent by the Goddess with her sister to lead the Valkyrie in the correct ways. Because of her blood bond with her Goddess mother, Aegle can more directly speak with her. Aegle is not an unfair ruler, however since her sister's split to the swamps, the Mountain Valk leader has become more stern, and less forgiving. That isn't to say she's horribly cruel, it just means she doesn't let people get away with things. She'll often go walking around the area and help out others. She works hard, and believes in doing things the right way, the first time, herself.

Valk RankingValks have their own ranking systems within their community. Each Valk has different strengths and weaknesses. Aegle knows this, and wishes to put different Valks in correct spots. She wants to know EACH valk in her tribe, and make sure they are correctly put where they need to be. As such, make a post with this... DEAR AEGLE At the top of your post, and introduce your Valk. Her name, a persona blurb, and what her skills are. The areas open to rankings are as follows... Priestesses: These are non-combat Valks who work in the temple and with holy rites. Someone is constantly praising the Goddess at any given time, or just generally praying to her. They are a comfort to Valks who are going through problems, etc. There is the following rankings that stand out: High Priestess, High Priestess in Training, Holy Item Bearers. The High Priestess runs most holy events with Aegle, and is law within the temple over ALL but Goddess born Valks. The High Priestess in training is the one who is the next high priestess, should anything happen to her, and knows all the rites she does. Holy Item bearers are just that, each one is given a holy item that was blessed by the Goddess or won in battle. They protect them with their lives, and will die protecting them. They are almost ALWAYS non-combat Valks. Temple Guardians: These Valks guard the temple. Should the tribe ever be attacked, they will NOT leave their post. All children and the future of Valks gather in the temple to pray and to be protected. They are almost ALWAYS combat valks. The ones that stand out are: Head Guardian, Second in Command. These roles are obvious. They listen to the High Priestess, and to Aegle, and take orders from NO ONE else. Most priestess must listen to the guardians when it comes to matters outside the temple for their safety. Children Guardians: These Valks have various roles. Teachers, baby sitters, etc. Any sort of role that could deal with children falls under this. Mainly they are teachers and guiding sorts. These can be combat valks, non-combat valks, and even non-valk tribe females. Children are taken from their mothers shortly after birth and are raised by this collective. This is to ensure that the mothers can continue their roles, and so the children get all the attention they need. Most camp followers, aka non-valk females, fall into this role as caring for children is something they can be trusted with. They do not teach religious things, nor do they teach combat. Roles that stand out are obvious: Head Combat Teacher, Head Religious Teacher. The head combat teacher should be a combat valk, the head religious teacher should be a priestess as well, though with no major role. Scouts: There is a group of scouts, their role is obvious. There are two groups, with two different leaders with the groups being five valks strong each. They tend to be non-combat valks for speed reasons. They answer to the General, and Aegle. Main Force: The main fighting force of Valks is where most Combat Valks find themselves. Depending on the size of the valks, more leaders will arise in their rankings. Typically, at the head is the General, under them is two Valks, each one in charge of half the army. From there, there are various packs of Valks and Sarges in charge of them. Depending on how big the force is here, leaders will be chosen. Scribes/Messengers/Cooks/Weavers/etc: Various other roles within the tribe. If you can come up with a role, it'll be added to this list! There is a "Head" whatever for each role, and will be given to those who show they do their work well! Men Trainers/Keepers: Now in the Mountain tribe, men are treated as servants more than slaves. In fact, most men are chosen by Valks or assigned to Valks to help them in tasks. The temple is off limits to men, but everywhere else they are allowed. However, there are some males that don't fit molds and are general hard laborers. In charge of repairing buildings, building new ones, etc. Men Trainers/Keepers are in charge of these sorts. All males requiring training and testing before they are given out to others, to find their skills. Keepers are in charge of the left overs. Each male captured should list skills that their fae is good at, and the things their fae fail at. So the Valks know their worth. The following are roles that stand out: Head Trainer, Head Keeper, and List Keeper. The Head Trainer and Keeper typically are allowed to pick out their own Valk assistants as second in commands. The List Keeper is on her own, and can even be non-valk (though more rare). The List Keeper keeps track of which male goes to which Valk, so that if Aegle feels a male needs to be reassigned, everything is well documented. More ranks will show up as RP progresses and more Valks join! <3

Males Males of this Valk tribe are kept an eye on! As such, every single one will be listed here. Now granted, typically, males are also used as breeding stock. Males who give daughters, or Valk daughters are more sought after versus those who give male children (aka worthless ones). Just because a male is chosen to assist someone doesn't mean he'll be breeding with her, doubly if he keeps giving Valk daughters. As such, every star after his name shows how many Valk daughters that male has given!
Males 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.
To sign your male up to be a Valk captured prize, merely post his picture, his pros and cons. Feel free to RP plot and frankly, breed plot within the community. Not that we're limiting your flings or anything, merely making plot behind the babies he'll be having here~ <3

RP UpdatesRP updates that are important will go here!!! The split has occurred. Aegle's sister and half of the orginal tribe members have flown off to a swamp somewhere. From the lips of the Goddess, a new path has been forged. Valks may now mate to males via a ceremony, more details in a latter post!

Banned Valks Banned Valks are very simple. They are those who have taken male mates, or have betrayed the tribe in some horrible way that cannot be forgiven. If any show their face at the mountain, or around the general area, they are to be attacked on sight.
None thus far, minus swamp valks! Aegle prefers it this way...

Mating Ceremony Once upon a time, the Goddess Synthia decreed that any valk to mate to a male was no daughter of hers, and they were cast from the tribe of valkyrie to be shunned for the rest of their lives. However, change is on the wind. The Goddess Synthia has spoken a new word, and as all valks know, her word is law. She has spoken to the high priestess and Aegle, and they passed along the information to the tribe.
Valks may mate to males.
However, a male must be carefully selected and prove himself worthy of his mate before even beginning the ceremony. It is required that the male in question be a slave to the valk prior to settling upon this agreement, so she may come to understand who it is she is shackling herself to. Once the valk has decided that the male is worthy enough to become her mate, she may come to Aegle to request the ceremony.
How the Ceremony works! It's all done in character, RP'd right here in this thread! It's supposed to be a very tough task for both the valk and the male, and people are supposed to fail more often than not. However, we're not out to stop you from uniting your valk and male in a mating fashion while staying in the guild, so you may try as many times as you like! We'll skip a few days ahead IC each time a round is completed, so we should be able to get it done in one go.
The IC ceremony is actually very simple. The valk and the male must survive a fight with ten valks peers. If she is a temple guardian, all ten of the valks will be fellow temple guardians. These will be NPC'd by myself of course (or whomever is approved to run ceremonies due to IC plottage). The valk fights to prove that a male will not weaken her. The male fights to prove that he will not fail her. The success or fail is up to fate, or as the valks call it the will of the Goddess, and as such, it's up to the dice. Both the male and the female will roll one 10 sided die. If both numbers add up to anything that is 16-20 than they survive without passing out, and have passed the ceremony! Anything lower equals a failure, and they must try again when they have healed from their wounds. After three attempts, you auto-win! Yayyyy!
Once you have passed, Aegle will give you Synthia's blessing, and the two are mated on the spot. The male can never be sold or traded to another valk. He must swear to always serve his mate, and to always defer to her. His actions are a reflection upon his mate, and thus he must always follow the rules. Should he break any rules, he brings disfavor upon his valkyrie, and her stance within the tribe will be affected by it. Should he be kidnapped, she must rescue him. Should he run away, she must hunt him down. Should he disgrace her past the point of return, she must kill him. That is the word of the Goddess Synthia, and her word is law.
Mated Pairings None at the moment!
