Everything had started to even out on Amityville's side of things. She finally felt comfortable in her own skin, and even had a goal to work towards! Sure her Revenge Kingdom self was part of a world that made her entirely uncomfortable, Moon had qualities that Amrita wanted; if a fragment of herself could have them, why couldn't she?

Her first step was to act on something she had been thinking about for a long while: practising her talents on living, breathing creatures. Namely Hunters. Ever since she had accidentally possessed Robert as a self preservation instinct she had been dwelling on it, wondering if she could do it again. Wouldn't it be fantastic if she could do it again?! She could finally contribute to the battle, to give those bastards a little bit of well deserved payback!

The planning stage had been...okay there wasn't a planning stage. One cool Second October day she decided to do it, wandering off and abandoning her Patchwork body deep in the forest. Now in her true form and wrapped in a large dark shawl, she stalked the school and waited for the Haunted House to appear to her, as it usually tended to do. Her own personal discomfort had her sneaking around, hiding from groups of people and being as quiet and secretive as ever; only a handful of people would know who she was at a glance, and thankfully she didn't run into them. It would be a pain in the butt to explain what she was doing, and the majority of her friends were worry-warts.

Understandably of course, but also counter-productive to what she wanted.

When the Haunted House opened up before her she was both excited and terrified, but she wasn't going to back down. Not now, not ever! The creature wandered the halls aimlessly at first, eventually coming across one of the rooms. The door sealed shut behind her, and she turned, her glowing eyes staring at it in an unreadable expression; actually, no expression at all. The Vetala turned it's ever blank face towards the room, glowing eyes moving in their wide, dark sockets.

She knew what that meant...it meant she wasn't alone.

He hadn't been on Haunted House duty in quite some time. It was a great change of pace from paper work. And boy was there a lot of that to do. While he didn't much like getting snuck up on by Halloween creatures, and while he feared encountering a Horsemen, in all likelihood it would be an uneventful shift.

The duty roster said he wasn't the only Hunter there, but he'd yet to run into them. All the better. He liked being alone.

It was near the end of his shift. Maybe an hour or so to go. But his uneventful night became.. eventful. An otherwise dark and narrow hallway turned pitch black, making his gasp audibly.

He hated the dark. He was terrified of it. It brought out primal terror that cleaved him like a chopping block blade. He stumbled backward, falling through a door and into a large room.

The lights came back on.

Surrounding the walls of the circular battle arena was mirrors. Prisms, mirrors and many reflective surfaces. Pools of water lined the edges of the room, tricking crystal clear water from somewhere high above.

The doors were nowhere to be seen anymore.

And that's when he saw her. A terrifying looking creature he'd never seen the likes of before. Except maybe his nightmares. Instantly Tenya was summoned, holding the 6 foot weapon out defensively.

The thing's head turned when she heard a shuffle, her attention drawing towards the Hunter who stood, weapon raised. For a moment the resolve flickered, hoping that she wouldn't have to come across someone with something that looked so entirely painful. A low hiss of air escaped the glowing vents that seemed to make up her unmoving mouth, a dismembered hand coming up to extend her claws over, as if gasping in shock.

Well. She wanted a Hunter...and now she got one. She knew one thing though; she wasn't going to attack head on.

"Hunter~" The Vetala uttered low, the voice an androgynous hiss at best, just before moving to slide into a nearby group of mirroring prisms. It reflected her still yes, but she felt that she'd be able to move a lot more now and remain mostly undetected when it came to where she really was. Plus it offered up some protection.

"Get out!" She had to close the gap between them, and get too close for him to properly wield that...whatever it was he was holding. Whenever she felt safe enough to, she moved out of the prisms she hid around for a test swipe, but ducked back in when she felt it was too unsafe.

She was alone after all...it would be a shame to be overwhelmed.

s**t.. if that wasn't a voice that could haunt his dreams..

Otto kept on high guard, up until the creature disappeared behind the cluster of prisms and mirrors. Now it looked like it was everywhere at once. He closed his eyes, relying on Tenya's sense rather than his eyes. He noted to himself to train for something like this more often.

<

Otto grunted as he felt a swipe of something across his back, instinctively opening his eyes and turning, slashing the jagged edges of Tenya into shattering prisms. The air was a sparkling frenzy of rainbows, scattering across the maze and mess of the arena. Disorienting reflections of himself and his enemy had him shutting his eyes once more.

Did he hit her? Maybe not.

He opened his eyes again once the shattering glass stopped spilling, reeling his arm back and hurling his weapon into the clusters where he felt a pang of Fear radiate.

Her quick jump back into the crystals was well timed: the weapon lashed out, and forced her to scramble back even faster. The crystals where her feet had once been shattered and she bit back a yelp - rather, in this form, a hiss - of surprise. Damn, this one was fast! She scampered away from the shattered glass and crystal, feeling some land on her or embed themselves slightly in her. It was an odd thing to feel, considering she usually wore a meat suit.

A sense of self preservation kept her moving, unable to give herself the comfort of staying still in one place. It was lucky she did too, as the thrown weapon grazed her, zapping across the back of her legs as she dove out of the way once more. The creature let out a hissing screech at the pain, her momentum broken and leaving her rolling awkwardly through the broken pieces that littered the floor. Ahhh s**t!

She rolled to her feet and charged him; his weapon was gone as far as she was concerned, leaving her the space she needed to lunge at him, claws extended and ready to sink into whatever flesh she could grab.

Otto's shield kept him from worrying about the shattering of glass around him, small cuts and lacerations quickly healing on his arms and legs. His shied was taking hits from just being in this environment, but that meant that creature had to be too.

Otto made a flaw throwing Tenya. With the disorienting illusions of the room, he couldn't actually see where Tenya was. Their Fear bond usually had her come to him, but he always relied on sight for the catch.

His concentration was cut off with a strangled yelp, the claws of the Vetela digging into his flesh. His shied still numbed the pain, and kept damage to a minimum, even with Tenya flying past him and landing across the room. He fell to the floor, jagged shards digging into his back. He hissed, arching his back to try to minimize the amount of glass embedding into his skin and clothes.

So long as Tenya remained summoned, his shield would hold. Tenya usually kept him informed of his health anyway. If things went south, he;d just use his...

...where was his pendant? Normally it was kept in his back pocket, but when he landed he didn't feel it at all..

s**t..

The Vetala went down with the Hunter, claws embedded into his skin. She sat on him, taking the opportunity and the closeness to lash out a few more times, raking her dismembered hands across his skin, tearing through fabric and flesh.

Having the Hunter trapped under her was setting off something deep inside her, a rage that she had kept bottled up and sealed. They had done so much to her and to her friends...it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair! They were just students trying to get by, they had enough problems without all this interference and suffering! She never had to die before, not until she came to this school. The destruction, the stress, the worry, the constant looking over shoulders and peering around corners, the tagging...they were made from FEAR, and yet these bastards were taking it from them, ruining them, making them feel the very thing they were created from.

"It's your fault..." The two-toned voice repeated out loud, seething through the glowing vents that made up her mouth, the light that radiated from her eyes slowly becoming as choppy and erratic as she felt. The claws drew away from his skin, linking together and raising above her head, getting ready to swing them down like a club.

Otto's arms raised to try and defend himself from the Vetala's constant scratching and clawing, desperately trying to both defend and grab at the offending limbs. His Fear shield was dropping rapidly, lacerations becoming deeper and lasting longer. His skin and clothes painted red. Everything was hurting, stinging. Tenya wailed in his mind, as his shield was near breaking.

But he couldn't reach for her. His body was too focused on trying to stop the constant attack.

The clawing stopped, only enough for Otto to finally open is eyes up to whatever it was the creature was preparing for.

He was paralyzed with fear.

The creature paused. It's arms were raised, ready to deal what would no doubt be a vicious blow, but...nothing. It sat there for a moment on Otto, still for the passing of a few very tense seconds.

"No..." It breathed out, visibly relaxing as something seemed to don on it. The body sagged slightly, the hands almost melting they unwrapped from each other so smoothly, coming down to rest those dismembered claws against Otto's raised arms. "No, I won't do it." It decided, that two-toned and androgynous voice hissing almost calmly. Cold claws trailed along the poor victim's arms before wrapping around his wrists, soft at first but tighter and tighter as she settled in on the idea. It was what she came in here for in the first place, after all.

"You will. To yourself." The creature promised, the voice raising to an almost giddy pitch. With the promise made, the creature's form did something strange; it started to flicker almost, moving between tangible and intangible, preparing itself for whatever it was about to do. The first time had been an accident for self preservation, this time was on purpose, and she was taking advantage of his mostly trapped form to give her the time she needed to figure it out.

Nothing?

Otto stared up at the creature, panting to catch his breath from the ebbing adrenaline he'd been on. It seemed to have a change of heart. He felt relief. A lot of these creatures often had shown they were more than blood thirsty demons. A lot, but not enough.

However, he hissed as it gripped his wrists painfully tight. This creature wasn't done with him, not by a long shot.

It's words he didn't understand, but he didn't give it time to. Otto inhaled sharply, using all his upper body strength to try and roll the creature off of him and reverse the situation somehow, much like he'd done with Nevada a few days ago. Only this time it was meant to save his life.

Otto's attempted turn surprised it somehow. Amrita's ghostly form flickered in shock as he threw her off him, releasing her grip on his wrists in an attempt to ease her landing, the shards on the ground now pinching and breaking through her own back this time, at least enough to draw a hiss of pain from the depths of her throat. Unlike Otto the Vetala's FEAR shield was still quite intact, smoothing the pain from the shards into nothing more than annoying pin pricks, but they were felt. The more shards there were, the more they made themselves known, and the more pain she began to feel. The realization that the tables had turned came a little too belatedly; it had been too focused trying to work itself up to possess this one that it didn't realize the tables could turn until it was too late.

"NO!" Now he was in charge, trapping her between his own weight and the shards that littered the ground, embedding into her ghostly flesh. Panic started to settle in, constricting her chest and sharpening her senses; she had to defend herself now, her mind screamed at her. This was a bad position to be in!

"Get OFF me, filthy human!" Her severed hands flew up on empty wrists, half trying to protect herself, but half trying to smack him off her in a desperate move to regain her control.

A steady swell of confidence came back to him now that he had control again. His pendant.. where was his pendant? Now that she was incapacitated under his weight, he looked around to try and locate it.

A lot of the prisms and mirrors were ow shattered, but the rainbow of colours scattered across the floor impeded his search.

Distracted, he nearly let go of the Vetala as its hands flew up as if possessed separately. He'd seen a lot of weird monsters but this one had a special place in his book of nightmare fuel.

Otto reeled his arm back and slammed his fist several times into the creature's face, or what he assumed was a face, before running off of the creature. He needed to find Tenya and his pendant, and he needed to find them now.

Had she known she was becoming nightmare fuel, she might have thanked him. After all, if he was scared of her he was scared of Vetala everywhere, and that would give them more FEAR to go about their daily lives. As it were though, she mistook his fear for blind rage and hate and was even too busy trying to protect herself to really dwell on it.

The punches landed home, each slam tearing a cry of pain. By the time he got up to flee there was an odd, thick substance seeping fron the corner of her vent-like mouth. Ow. Ow! With the Hunter's weight gone she rolled over to work her way to her feet, the shards on the ground still lacerating her skin and some even falling off of her as she stood shakily.

The Hunter was trying to escape...he was trying to get away, and she couldn't allow that. She got her bearings as quickly as she could, turning this way and that to see where the Hunter had tried to escape to. A few clumsy lunges found her claws hitting off glass or crystal, occasionally dragging her nails along it to make the room echo in a horrible screech. This time, though. She knew it was him. It looked too real, it moved differently than the reflections.

It had to be.

His back was to her, and Amrita took the opportunity to lunge at him once more, throwing her body weight with every intention of bringing him to the ground once more.

Tenya was easy enough to locate. It was just a matter of feeling for her presence. What took so long was not walking into walls of prisms, navigating the mess of shattered glass. Finally he reached her, just about ready to lean down to pick her up again.

A sudden force from behind him brought him crashing down, Tenya's form retreating to her totem form as this blow knocked his Fear shield offline. He felt a jagged shard or two dig into his abdomen as the weight of the creature pinned him down. He winced, trying not to cry out in pain. That numb sort of blockade to his sense of pain was gone. Everything hurt.

s**t.

"You're not getting away this time!" The creature hissed, pressing her weight down on the back of the Hunter's shoulders. No more playing around, she had to do what she came here to do, and he was weak now. She could feel it, not to mention see it. Her form flickered once more and her hands began to sink into his flesh; it wasn't painful, not really. Parts of him just started to go numb and unfeeling the more she pressed, her FEAR overtaking his very cells piece by piece. She seemed to disappear into him, her weight leaving him as it instead became him.

Otto would remain conscious just long enough to feel his hands and feet twisting, pulled by some strong, invisible force. The bones felt like they were breaking, the muscles and tendons pulling and twisting in an attempt to stay in one piece...and just before his mind went black, he would feel the telltale snap as something broke.

The process was something Amrita only vaguely registered. Her own mind went blank, lingering in that awkward space between using her own senses and using his. She was conscious of her signs though, and had tried despite her rage to hide them. She fought against the invisible force twisting her now-borrowed limbs...and lost. When her eyes opened next, she was staring down at glass shards and a totem, her - no, his - eyes unfocused but desperately trying to clear enough to see.

"s**t..." Her new voice hissed, body squirming as she awkwardly moved, peeling herself - now himself off the shattered glass that littered the floor. His feet were as backwards as they should have been, but one wasn't right; she could feel it was broken, but it didn't hurt her enough to favour it. Awkward as it was to walk and stand on she did it anyway, even if all it did was to make the break a little worse.

"Y-You're a real pain in the a**..." Otto's voice said out loud, his face scrunching up in disgust. Ugh, the living...she didn't know how they did it. It was so inconvenient. "I should thank you though. This was easier than last time." She continued to speak out loud on the off chance that the tumor was still awake and listening; his presence was felt, but it was quiet, cold, weak.

"Now...what to do with you." Otto's eyes surveyed the room with an eerie sense of calm. She had him in her clutches now, in a body she could move easily; she wasn't worried any more, she didn't fear for her own survival. She'd be fine, and she could make this boil pay.

Hopefully, he'd be awake enough to experience it too.
