User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. [ Task of Conquest: ] The Virus
This task requires a group of AT LEAST three initiated members (students or Horsemen), to a max of five members. They may go anywhere in the Human World using the portal catacombs in the Lair. These catacombs lead to small human world towns only. All players must follow these steps to successfully create a virus and then harvest the Fear from their virus. Follow the steps listed.

gaia_crown [ Step 1: ]

- The virus must first be created, from Fear. All players must imbue their Fears TOGETHER into a Fear-storage container. They may choose to use their natural ability, a Fear item they have, for example, something they won from school, or even something as simple as something a part of them, such as their hair or piece of clothing, a lab chemical or plant, etc etc, and PLACE IT INTO THE Fear storage container.
- Rp out all results as usual

- Roll a 10-sided dice. Conquest clans members roll 2d8 instead
1- 3: The Fear level from your offering is extremely weak.
4- 7: The Fear level from your offering is average.
8 - 10+ The Fear level from your offering is very good.

- ALL ROLLS ARE THEN averaged between all players. So if we have three players who rolled 2 + 5+ 10 that equals 2+ 5+ 10/ 3 = 6 TOTAL virus points. ROUND UP.

gaia_crown [ Step 2: ]

- After everyone has rolled and rp step 1, they can all now move to step 2, distributing the virus. Let the Fear-storage container do its work, for a little bit. Then, it is time to release it into the Human Town. You can release it anywhere in town: in a local water supply, spread it to the animals first, or simply attempt to find the local shelter to see if humans will pick up on it. As this virus is Fear-based, its requires Fear to be evoked from the atmosphere. That means you need to make the town nervous and paranoid so that their natural defenses drop. Only then will the virus do its work, seeping into the Human's own paranoia to stir their Fears even further and eventually kill them. There can be physical effects, this is up to you, or the virus can be entirely psychological/ fear-based. Talk it out with the rpers as to what you'd like the virus to look/ be like.
- All players can roll two times MAX. Rp out all results as usual.
- Conquest clans members get an extra roll

- Roll a 100-sided dice:
1- 2: You manage to find a shelter with old, elderly people. They are easily scared by your movement, as they think they see shadows, something moving in the corners. The Fear Virus seizes them easily and you gain your first victims. +2 virus points.
3- 4: You see some livestock milling around, well, the human livestock sort. Some strange dull cattle-like creatures. They are easily spooked by your presence and succumb easily to the virus. This is good news, it means the humans will directly consume your virus. +3 virus points.
5 - 6: You try to scare a group of Humans that look very busy in their household but they pay you absolutely no attention. They look way, way too happy, chatting with each other as they work. You cannot even evoke simple Fear here.
7- 8: You see a group of children, and they see you immediately, screaming. Human children are the most susceptible to Fear after all, with their wild imaginations. Their parents don't seem to be as susceptible though, the virus does very little for them as a whole. +1 virus points
9-10: You find a broken-down, decrepit place that resembles a haunted house. There are young Humans who are keen on exploring the inside. You scare them easily, and it is only a matter of time before they succumb to the virus as well. +2 virus points.

gaia_crown [ Step 3: ]

Once you have enough victims who have succumbed and you are happy with your result, you can now gather the Fear you have collected. Simply match your virus points to see how many Fear Points you have collected.
- You can conclude the town as your wish: destroy it, watch it rot itself, however you please.

1- 5 virus points: 1 Fear Point
6 - 12 virus points: 3 Fear Points
13 - 16+ virus points: 5 Fear Points

The excursion to the Human World had required a great deal of careful thought. But after his...for lack of a better word, sleep that had occurred, Mengyao had developed a strange sort of restlessness that he could not quite understand. He felt consistently on edge, wary, a sense of tension in his very veins, it seemed.

The voices were louder.

When she returned to her living quarters later that day, Lifen would discover a note from Mengyao pinned neatly to her doorway. It consisted of a brief, but vague explanation of where he had gone, as well as an invitation to accompany him, should she wish to.

He really hoped she would; it would give him a chance to talk to her alone, something he was always a fan of.

Lifen felt a little guilty on two parts.

Wandering up towards where the tall noble was, she had definitively accepted his request for a bit of company during whatever he wished to do, but, she wasn't coming around alone. She had met Senga, the little pelted War Horseman whom she had befriended recently, and he had seemed so . . . in need of some good company recently, maybe a conversation, she kind of offered to bring him along without asking the Nobleman.

So here she was, walking up towards Mengyao with Senga in tow, giving him a silent apology. "Hello Mengyao, I received your message, but I hope you do not mind - I met Senga on my way here and he requested some company for a bit. I figured you would be fine with it. More the Merrier, right?"

There was a secret look, after the statement, that said she would make it up for him, something more personal, since he seemed like he needed a day alone, with her in line.

"So, what do you have in mind?" She offered up to him, smiling again.

Senga had not meant for this to happen.

This was definitely not what was supposed to happen at all.

The Executioner ruffled his wings in mild discomfort when the third person in their party came into view, the skulls on his pelt rustling and clacking together gently. The look he gave Mengyao was thinly veiled irritation intermingled with hesitance. It was the look that said this wasn't supposed to happen.

And of course, Lifen always made things sound more eloquent than he could so the War horseman decided not to say anything on the subject at all. It was true that he had been lonely, and when she'd appeared, conversation seemed like a harmless little thing. He had never known it would grow into this. So instead of opening his mouth on the subject at all, he simply bowed his head, his long wings fluffing gently.

"Hello, Mengyao." He rumbled.

If Lifen wasn't there, he wouldn't have even bothered trying to be polite.

Unfortunately, she was, and she was very hard to turn down or upset.

He had not expected to see Lifen bring anyone with her, least of all the last person that Mengyao wished to see ever again. The expression on his face froze, and then darkened, Mengyao's gaze sweeping across Senga's stony face. Everything he wanted to say was on the tip of his tongue, but seeing as how Lifen was there, he refrained.

"Hello...Senga," said Mengyao stiffly, in an attempt at being courteous - though he doubted it would last long.

Maybe he would only speak to Lifen. Leave Senga to fend for himself.

"We are creating a virus," said Mengyao. "But first, we are going to the Human World, after which we will continue this...little excursion."

He led the way into the catacombs, beckoning for the two to follow him. A few moments later, all three would emerge on the quiet, shadowed streets of an unfamiliar human town, its roads lit by dull, luminescent fixtures somewhere above their heads. It had rained recently; the ground was spotted with dampness, and a drop slipped from a nearby signpost, landing on Mengyao's cheek. He wiped it away from disgust, glancing up at the sign, which read Welcome to Mayville, Tennessee!

Mengyao turned back to the others. He reached into the sleeve of his robes and carefully extracted a small container, holding it so that all could see and reach it.

"I will need a bit of your FEAR," said Mengyao calmly. "Whatever you may place in here will be used to create the virus."

As if to demonstrate, he lifted his free hand and gently pulled out a long, black hairpin, glancing at it only briefly before dropping it neatly into the FEAR container.

"Your turn."

Secretly, she kind of enjoyed having the two boys with her during this little excursion - Mengyao was always good to have around, and Senga made her feel rather . . . natural heighted, considering that walking with Mengyao was liken to walking with a talking pillar.

Listening to the taller conquest horseman as he continued his explanation, her eyebrows stayed rather high, mismatched eyes watching carefully. A virus? It sounded rather interesting, something to stir up everything in the human world - she could use the excitement.

"Sounds like a nice little vacation from the regular grind." She murmured delightedly as she stepped through in to the emptied street of a city she could only assume was currently quiet enough for three very obvious not-from-here people to be galvanting around in robes and fluff.

Turning back to Mengyao, she caught his request for something of her fear, going to lightly snip at the end of her hair, before placing it in the fear container, giving a "I hope that was good enough," look, expecting it to blow up, or something.

Senga stared at Mengyao, considering the possibility of kicking him off of a nearby cliff without Lifen noticing. When that option seemed wholly unrealistic (unfortunately), Senga instead cocked his head and sighed. "Hello, Mengyao." He couldn't be bothered to add anything else, in wariness of starting an all out apocalypse before they even got to where they were supposed to go.

Well, at least he could practice self-control, if little else, on this adventure of theirs. And Lifen was there too... though how much help she would be if they got into a spat in the middle of collecting FEAR... well, that was up to fate and how funny Lifen thought they looked.

It was with little noise that Senga followed Lifen and Mengyao, only mildly paying attention to the instructions and the demonstration of collected FEAR. This was an entirely different art than the one War chose to implement, and while he honestly found it fascinating, he was not quite so sure part of his company was an ideal accomplice at all.

Humming, Senga extracted a long, tawny feather and offered it into the container alongside Mengyao's pin and Lifen's hair. What a strange procedure. "It'll at least prove an interesting - ahh - vacation." He rumbled in return, though his voice seemed almost as deadpan as a rock.

He was not going to look at Senga because if he did, he'd be more inclined to run an arrow through the colt's stomach, and that would probably be bad, especially considering that Lifen was right there.

So Mengyao refrained from attacking, and instead finished mixing up the virus. Wherever Mayville, Tennessee was, it was certainly a dismal place. None of the tall, elaborate buildings of Conquest, nor the beautifully decorated, elegant fixtures of the palaces. Mengyao resisted the urge to wrinkle his nose.

"Let us get this over with, then," he murmured, and gave Lifen a sidelong glance, hissing out a sigh between his lips.

The "haunted house" (for lack of a better term) was both despondent and disgusting, but Mengyao did not have the luxury of not continuing his work. At least, he thought, as a few humans came into view, this would not be that bad. These were young humans, by the look of it. They were impressionable. Easy to mold.

Easy to break.

Ten minutes later, Mengyao came back out, a smug expression on his face.

"Your turn."
