The water at this particular lake, Heiko decided, was rather crisp. Lifting his head, the pink leopard licked the excess drops from his mouth, red eyes scanning the other side of the bank. Suddenly, his ears picked up a noise; antelope. The leopard grinned with delight, turning his head in the direction of the noise. They were, fortunately, heading near to where he was. Finally, dinner.

Crouching low, he dug his claws into the ground in front of him momentarily, shoulder's rolling. Heiko crawled forward, inching into the grass, careful to not shake them too much, to cause too much noise; not that it mattered. Blinking, Heiko lifted his head, watching as a stampede of antelopes galloped past him, dust from their hooves nearly blinding him.

Standing up quickly, Heiko sprung into action. He dashed along with the herd, snapping at their heels, growling ferociously. A hoof caught him in his side, stunning him momentarily, but he quickly gained his footing.

One of the beast slipped up; taking this opportunity, Heiko pushed off the ground with his back legs, springing into the air. His jaw clamped down, warmth filled his mouth, adrenaline pumped through him. Holding the antelope down, he waited until it's movement stilled before letting go, eyes watching the herd of antelope grow smaller in the distance.

Licking his chops once more, he looked down to study his catch; not too bad, though not nearly a prized catch. He shrugged; it wasn't like he was sharing it with anyone.

Oh, how she despised hunting prey in large swarms.

Tisau stared at the stampede of antelope rushing towards where she was standing, and let out a small sigh. True, she did enjoy a tasty meal, especially antelope, but she didn’t enjoy the hunt. Never did when they were grouped like this. It was so much work to try to just snag one of them, let alone kill.

Thankfully, they didn’t fight back…/too/ much. But, when they did, it was always with their hooves and horns. Claws, she could easily deal with. Hooves and horns? Those proved to be more troublesome. Oftentimes, it left her winded as they hit her body. And once you let them loose, they were gone and there was no getting them back for the most part, unfortunately. Unless there was a broken leg. Tisa, didn’t like attacking the limbs, however; and went for main body mass. Not the wisest of decisions, but she disliked the hooves, so much, that it was the next best area to target.

The herd passed nearby, and she ran towards it, her claws soon digging into the hide of one of the antelopes backs. Her prey, however; was quick to buck and fling her off to the side before she was able to sink her teeth into its neck. And, to make matters worse, when she was able to get back up on her feet the herd was long gone and there was no way to catch up with them.

Sighing, the lioness shook off her body and looked around for her next meal, but no such luck. That was, until she saw a leopard not too far off from where she stood, an carcass beside him.

Hesitantly, she stepped towards the male and licking her maw as the scent of a fresh kill hit her nostrils, she sat not too far from the other and simply watched. Hoping in vain that he’d offer some to her without she having to ask.

Heiko heard the footsteps approaching and looked up; it was a female lion. Staring at her wearily, he stepped around the dead animal, away from her. "Can I help you?" he asked tensely, muscles rigid.

However, noticing how she licked her mouth, Heiko suddenly grinned, stepping back a bit. "Go ahead!" he told her cheerfully, settling back to lick the blood off his paw. He wasn't the type to get stingy. Growing up with three older sisters who seemed to have bottomless stomachs and a knack for persuasion has left him with little thoughts of being stingy. And, of course, he always did enjoy with another person found a feast for him; how could he deny that to the lioness in front of him.

Quite content from the kill, he simply watched the other. Another's company was something he enjoyed quite thoroughly, as they were far and few between chances of meeting another. "I'm Heiko! And you?" he queried, smiling.

A mighty rumble came from Tisa’s stomach as the leopard moved towards the far side of his meal. It looked so good---just a bite was all she wanted. Nothing more. If only she could summon the courage to go up and ask him for a nibble. However; she found that she was lacking in surmounting enough courage to ask.

The lion grinned at the leopard, gracefully and cautiously approaching the dead animal. There was no telling what the other male was like. But judging but his lax demeanor, she could only assume that he was friendly and meant no harm. Still---her sky blue eyes stared at Heiko---one could never be too sure when it came to others. Especially in the rogue lands. Meeting strangers was just another reason why she contemplated joining a pride, but she couldn’t bring herself to actually settle down. Not just yet.

”Thank you,” she murmured, before dipping her head down to tear off what was left. Fortunately, there was plenty to satisfy her hunger. Just because she was eating didn’t mean that she didn’t keep one eye trained on the male. He couldn’t be trusted. Not yet, at least.

Heiko’s inquiry about her name did take her by surprise, however; and she stiffened, lifting her head up and staring at the smiling leopard. “Hungry,” she said flatly, licking her maw. After a beat, she gave him a small crooked smile, all the while genuine. She really couldn’t help herself. ”Tisaubiranji. What’s a leopard like you doing in these parts?”

Heiko’s eyes widened. Hungry? Was this lioness joking or…? He hardly knew the other but, as far as first impressions went, she certainly didn’t seem the type to make sure a lame jest to a stranger. Was she serious? He opened his mouth to reply, not quite sure what he was going to say, when she continued.

His shoulders slouched in relief.

Grinning, he watched her. A sense of humor. That was a nice thing to find, if it wasn’t accompanied with creepiness. Deciding to trust her, an action that would surely get him injured one of the days unbeknownst to him, he laid down, stretching underneath the hot sun. Lazily, he glanced up at her. “Wandering,” he replied simply with a grin. “Yourself?”
