COSPLAY SUBSPECIES AND YOU!
exclaim PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT grandfather rules. If you made a "Cosplay" sort of character PRIOR to us reestablishing the rules IE THIS CHARACTER EXISTS AND IS ENROLLED APPROVED AND HAS EXISTED FOR LONGER THAN 1 MONTH FROM THIS POST we will not force you to change their species or adhere. It would be nice out of courtesy but it is not a must! Everyone else, please read and make adjustments accordingly!
gaia_crown WHAT IS A SPECIES:
- Monsters, Demons, Reapers, Ghosts and Undead are our five main races. From there we have created SPECIES. For example, mermaids and werewolves are monsters, while vampires and revenants are undead.
gaia_crown WHAT IS CONSIDERED A "COSPLAY" SUBSPECIES?
- We originally founded TiH with the idea that other than "Nightmare Before Xmas" type creatures, all creatures are monsters of lore. Sirens, Banshees, Harpies and all sorts of Demons, creatures that have existed in Halloween for a very long time. The general rule is that as long as this character can be found on Wikipedia with a HISTORIC background that is very solid, then you are okay. For example, a traditional werewolf, as opposed to a Teen Wolf Werewolf subspecies (seriously, please don't do that.... seriously okay).
gaia_crown HOWEVER:
- Creatures are known to adapt with time, as do the Fear of Humans. To recap, Humans get scared of things. They create Fear. This Fear turns into creatures. Weak Fear usually become minipets.
- WHY ARE THERE SO MANY MINIPETS: Because that is what Fear usually translates to. Fear usually wont become any stronger UNLESS -
- It has ties to traditional Halloween. That being said, you can VERY LOOSELY BASE your character off a series, be it Final Fantasy, or Kingdom Hearts, etc etc as long as you TIE IT to a TRADITIONAL SPECIES. Creatures may change their appearance, that is very common, but THEY CANNOT be entirely exported including setting and background from a different franchise.
- You CAN NOT export your character from, for example, Pokemon and expect it to work. For example, my character is Steve, the Charmander. Charmanders come from a world where other pokemon like them live in harmony. This just does NOT fit the TiH setting.
- You MUST CONSIDER how this species, not character, but SUBSPECIES would even exist in Halloween! Halloween is a world of creatures and things that go bump in the night, but with very specific rules and lineages. Seriously please do not CREATE a setting that doesn't exist in TiH! Don't create Heartless, don't create Harry Potter Wizards, don't create an army of Chocobo, please instead, adapt that concept INTO the TiH SETTING
gaia_crown EXAMPLES:
- I want to make a Kyubey creature. Incubator is NOT a species you can use! There are no such things as a creature that makes contracts with magical girls only in the Human world, consider how that species would function in HALLOWEEN!
- What you can do instead is take ASPECTS of what Kyubey is and break them down. Kyubey is an incubator, he makes contracts. He grants wishes. He could be a type of djinn. (Please don't actually call your character by the cosplay name, this is never okay. We will let you go with subspecies cosplay types but NEVER THE COSPLAY CHARACTER FLAT OUT).
- I want to make a HEARTLESS creature. You can't call it a Heartless, how do they even exist in Halloween, when there is no Kingdom Hearts? Instead, consider both SHADOW type demons and MIMIC demons. That way it could vaguely LOOK like a heartless but not be CALLED a heartless.
- I want to make a HOLLOW creature. Obviously shinigami like the ones from Bleach don't exist, so instead, consider a creature with a mask design. A ghost of some variant perhaps, maybe a vengeful ghost? A variant of a youkai? Take aspects you like from Hollows, draw from them, and then adapt them to the TiH setting! You are not making TiH adapt to your cosplay/ species cosplay settings, for example you can't just insert an army of *insert cosplay realm here* directly into Halloween, you are making the species adapt to the TiH settings!
gaia_crown [ COSPLAY IS OKAY BUT NOT ENCOURAGED ]
- Seriously one or two is fine, but we really do not encourage a whole army. People get touchy over cosplay reservations and species reservations and what they expect the cosplay to be like and that is something we really want to avoid. While its okay to have one or two of those characters like that please try to make your other characters as original as possible. TRADITIONAL MONSTERS AND SPECIES ARE ALWAYS WELCOME IN TIH. COSPLAYS ARE OKAY BUT ONCE AGAIN, NOT ENCOURAGED. Halloween is HALLOWEEN and it would not exist without its traditional creatures!
