Rolling a 3: ALL DAMAGE HAS NO MODIFIER (ie: you don't need to subtract -6 ). You feel something brush against you, unsettling as it literally envelops you in a blanket of cold. You feel stronger but more distant, as if the battle around you is happening to someone else...

Home. Come home.

Sometimes the voices were nothing more then background noise. Once a hindrance and a distraction, now at times a comfort. It wasn't often they spoke loudly, or clearly enough to be heard.

There's nothing left here, come home.

Now was not one of those times.

As if in a trance the death priestess followed the lure of the promise of home. Through the school grounds, the gymnasium and finally the tunnel that lead to the familiar the fog drenched silhouette of the haunted house. Dismissively she regarded the building, eyes half lidded and uninterested. There was no home there, only the promise of painful memories. But still, the voices called to her, and she was unwilling to fight their pull.

Bare foot, she moved in silence, like the shadows she resembled as they bled through the fog. This had not been a planned venture, and she was not wearing the leather'd protection she would have if she'd answered a summons for a mission. Instead, that petite fame was draped in flowing cream. A simple slip of lacy fabric that fell to her knees. Comfortable, but offering little in the way of armor. It did form a wonderful contrast against the darkness of her skin and the charcoal fall of ashen curls. She, more then most other horsemen, was an ethereal looking creature.

We're waiting.

Come to us, we're here.

Nergui, come HOME!

The hunter portal had unexpectedly dropped him outside the Haunted House. Usually he'd find himself in one of it's many ever-changing rooms with some new setting to explore and new trinkets to rifle through while keeping to his patrol. Every once in a while he'd run into a student and they'd have a little spat, but in general there was a whole lot of nothing. This may have been the first time that wasn't a big important mission where he was outside.

The last time he was outside... Bix hated to think of it. Merging with his weapon, becoming lost to Insanity, dying. The fog itself had him edgy and uncomfortable. His pale skin was clammy under his snug sleeveless coat. Mina, his bow, was held at the ready and the pulsing runic red gems gave a fair visual warning to any who were lurking in the swirling mists around the house.

When Bix happened to catch a glance of Nergui he wasn't even sure she was real. The dark skin, the pale wispy clothing... she may as well been a trick of the eyes or one of the house's many spectres. As he neared the horseman he said nothing, only eyed her from a safe distance.

Was she even there or was this his paranoia?

Was it a sound, or was it lack of all sound, the pulled the mare from the internal murmuring of the voices that plagued her. Grey curls slide along the darkness of her shoulder as her head tipped to one side, features thoughtful and considering. The vacancy of a moment before shattered as she seemed to come awake, suddenly alert. Concentrating as she strained to hear anything that might have made sound in the evening air.

Alone... so alone.

No.. No she wasn't alone. Something was watching her, she could feel it. Not the rampant paranoia that the infectious Insanity could produce, but an undeniable itch at the middle of her back. She felt eyes, and it had mismatched eyes narrowing as she searched the surrounding landscape for any sign of man or beast through the thick blanket of fog that swirled around her legs and every inch of the ground around her.

Come home. You'll never be alone again.

We'll be with you

Always

"No." she breathed, voice little more then the quietest whisper. "It is lies." Answering the voices never silenced them, but that didn't keep her from responding all the same. After all, she was Insane. "I am not alone."

Of course, the priestess meant in general. She had her cousin, her companions, but Bix wouldn't know to what she was referring to.

"What?" It talked. Bix squinted through the mist as he realized that it wasn't some wandering spectre, it was a Halloween denizen. The problem was that he wasn't sure if she was friend or foe, horseman or student. He hadn't yet met any horse-people in gauzy lingerie looking clothes (and he had met several students in what looked like underwear) so he was incorrectly assuming that this was simply some school ghoul.

"You should go back to the school. Turn around.." He raised his bow with a red pulsing arrow pulled back and ready to fly. "It's dangerous here..."

He wasn't the type for a straight out assault, never seeking violence if he could avoid it.

Mismatched eyes twitched towards the sound of a voice, her head turning slowly to face the hunter as they revealed themselves and cautiously lifted their weapon. "I can't go back." There was no going back.. What lay behind was little better then a prison camp after the boogeymen had restricted their freedom. It had never been home, and she had never truly felt welcome in this place, but now it was near unbearable. The proud horsemen of the lost clans, reduced to what? The mares lip curled up in a bitter sneer.

She hadn't truly registered what now stood before her. She'd heard a voice, and she'd answered it. Not unlike what she'd been doing just before the hunter had shown themselves. Now those heterochromic eyes focused, narrowing on the bow and arrow before snapping up to the young man's face. "Dangerous?" The airy quality of her voice was fading, replaced by subtle purr that could have been anger as easily as it could have been irony. "The only danger I see here, is you."

He was pale From his hair, to his coat. It was that, as well as the weapon, that gave him away for what he was, and Nergui's dark features contorted with rage before shifting into something less feral, though not an ounce less vicious. She smiled, small and sharp, chin tipping back so the moon could glitter on pearly whites. "I do not take orders from humans."

Phoenix. The phoenix.

Murderers, they're all murderers.

Killed them all. Destroyed everything!

She'd yet to come face to face with a hunter in so intimate a situation. Always before she'd crossed blades with them on a grander scale. This was new, and Exciting. For a priestess, Nergui was an exceptional warrior. "Will you bleed for me, Hunter?"

Bix frowned. It didn't matter if this was a student or a horseman. He could already tell she was batshit crazy.

"Last chance.." His bow glowed in the mist, pulsing red gems beating out like a pulse. Mina was always looking to slake her thirst for FEAR. Despite the enemy's outward aggression, he wasn't backing down.

Did he really think she would back down? She chuckled at his last warning, silver curls bouncing along her shoulders as she shook her head. "Have you never met a member of the clans?" They did not back down, they did not run. That this hunter even presented the option was vaguely insulting. She smirked, odd gaze returning to the bow and arrow. Ranged weapon, usually at a disadvantage in close combat, and that was where the priestess excelled. Usually. Battle was a fickle mistress, and it wouldn't do to be over confident.

Her hand flexed at her side, and the length of a blade came to her beckon. Blade black as her own skin. She wrapped her fingers around, squeezing the familiar hilt, then fell into a charge.

Bare footed her toes dug into the earth as she moved, lending her speed, and she brought her blade up to swing at the hunter's face. The first hint of blood caught the air, and the woman a fierce laugh as she slid to a stop, turning so pale skirts swirled along her legs.

Bix had only a moment's preparation when the woman came out him with her blade. Thankfully he wasn't as ill equipped at close combat as he had been in the past. The House's effect seeped in slowly as he took her hit as if in slow motion, as if he was watching himself from a distance and not fighting at all.

Bix swung his bow, feather shaped blades flipping out of the ends, and charged back at Nergui. He swiped at her several times before swinging the blades down from above. Perhaps he could slow her down enough to fall back and fire some arrows?

The feathered blades weren't entirely expected, and although she managed to block one or two of his slashes, the majority landing. Peppering dark skin with angry slices, and turning her pale perfection of her dress into something torn and splattered in crimson. She back pedaled, both hands bracing her blade as she tried to shield herself from the blows, but there were too many blades, and she had not been ready.

The last downward swipe took her across the shoulder and chest and she snarled at the human, jerking away from him as she brought hand and weapon both up to press over the wound. Luck had let the blow land on her left shoulder. The pain was sharp and biting, and she could feel the warm trickle of blood as it seeped down her back and along the mound of her breast.

The cockiness had faded, and the priestess was left with furious determination. He may have earned the space wanted to take advantage of the range of his weapon, but Nergui was not without her own tricks.

It may ave been night, but the moon was high above them, and their shadows danced along the fog and the ground beneath, and it was that the priestess aimed her next attack at. She slashed at the dark cast of shadow that stretched long to meet the hunter's feet. Cutting and hacking at the thing with blow after blow. It would have been silly, if those hits had not been felt elsewhere. Shadow strike left no marks, no hints of attack, but he would feel the kiss of her blade as if she were upon him.

And with every hit she felt the crystal at her hip throb. Leeching what fear escaped, gaining strength, growing stronger.

Bix hadn't been expected to attacked by shadows. How did you defend against something like that? The darkness crawled up at him, bit and cut, sapping his strength and bringing the albino to one knee.

"Tricky.." He gritted his teeth and struggled back to his feet, leaping back in anticipation of more shadows. He figured the farther distance between them, the better.

The archer unleashed a volley of arrows at the woman to keep her at bay. The whispering urged him on, fire more, fire more, brutality that he wouldn't always have released. He barely stopped himself, breathing a bit heavy.

"Last chance... Leave here."

Every successful hit was a thrill, and the priestess was laughing, loud and joyous, by the time the hunter had fallen to his knee. It would be no wonder the mare assumed she'd taken the upper hand in the battle, and why should she not? Not just a priestess, but a warrior, a proud member of the Lost Clans, and they were a brutal people that had been making humans cower in fear since they were nothing more then savages living in caves.

She didn't expect the sudden volly of arrows the albino rained down upon her. Couldn't see beyond what she thought was a sure victory. It made her slow to react, and she gave a startled gasp as the first spinning shaft sung past her left ear. Heterchromic eyes widened, features showing that cold arrogance shatter and fall as she tried desperately to get out of the way.

An arrow head sliced her cheek, and she grunted, jerking away only to feel the kiss of another graze her hip. Her calf, her arm, her ribs. Tiny arcs of scarlet and splattered blood as the arrows tore at her skin. Superficial, every one, until a solid hit wheeled her around and knocked her off her feet.

At first she didn't know what had happened. Only that something heavy had hit her, hard, in teh shoulder. She'd felt the blow, not the piece, but that came in the wake of realization as her fingers found the shaft where it met her skin. High on the left of her check. As she struggled back to her feet she could see the feathers , the length of wood.. A searching hand, arm bent oddly, brushed the arrow head that protruded from her back.

For a second or two she could only stare at it, eyes wide. Looking up only as he spoke, but the words of his last warning didn't reach her, not really. She looked absolutely feral in her tattered dress and tosseled hair, drenched in blood from brow to feet.

But still she would not back down.

She was Fear, she was DEATH. Death did not run from humans.

A growl bubbled up from the mare's throat, and she ran at the hunter, scimitar swinging widely at any piece of his body she could reach. If she was going down, then he was coming with her. She would drag him down into the darkness that consumed all. "Die!"

"s**t!" Bix did his best to parry her scimitar with the shaft of his bow. Each time the weapons met their clanging would ring out only to be swallowed by the oppressive fog. He felt like he was moving in slow motion, the damage eating away at his shield but it didn't seem as important in a detached sort of way.

He used every opening she offered, cutting at her with his blades, each tiny nick sapping the enemy's strength as best he could, until there was nothing left but to watch her fall, his outline lit with the insistent red pulsing of Mina's gems. Her charge was ready but Bix was sure that was the end of his opponent.

Somewhere in the flurry of strikes the arrow that pierced her shoulder shattered. Energy exploding outward with such force shew felt the joint shift from the socket itself, pain proceeded, barely, by a sickening pop before her scream echoed it. It made her hesitate, slowed her movements, and although she didn't stop her relentless assault, it did leave her wide open for the hunter to fight back.

The small cuts and slices, so insignificant compared to the wounds at her upper chest and shoulder, were all but ignored as she continued to swing at him. Determined, even with her left arm useless. Of course she didn't feel the sapping drain to her energy. Not until it was much to late.

It wasn't supposed to be like this. Humans weren't supposed to win, not against the great horsemen of the Apocalypse.

She stared at the pale young man, eyes wide, and for the first time filled with fear along with rage. She stared, thin chest rising and falling in shaking, heavy breaths, and finally dropped to her knees. The inky curve of her blade vanishing as she collapsed to her side as darkness stole her vision.
