"Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink..." Well, not so much not a drop to drink... Leek, formerly Moshi, stared at one of the many pools of water, before he slipped into it. He'd left behind the swamps only for the desert he'd come to to get soaked by finally-arriving rains. He didn't know it, but it was as if the swamplands had missed their rains for the desert to get it instead. He didn't know yet that his birthplace had been ravaged by fire, decimated and reduced to ash. He'd flitted out like smoke, and sprung into fire somewhere else, with the ash long behind him.
The wing-marked red lion circled the pool a few times, before dipping under and popping back out. Even he had to admit... He missed the water sometimes, and he was sure the two lionesses that had also come from the Swamplands would agree to that. He climbed from the pool and, not noticing if anybody was around, began to shake his wet coat and mane out.

Despite the rains coming, it was still hot. Summer was approaching rapidly, which only meant it would be worse off for the desert dwellers. Vaguely, the young lioness wondered if she would survive a summer. She was born into late summer of last year, so this would be her first full one. The black lioness was panting already. Learning to hunt in a pack was hard when it was so hot outside. Not to mention the fact she was one of those who had the unfortunate luck to be born nearly pure black. It just kept the heat a lot worse in times like this. So, Enya had decided she was going to slip away from learning things and wanted to go swimming. So, she was wander towards a pool of water that she'd enjoy only to find someone else in it. A frown pulled on her lips a that and her red eyes just stared like 'really'? "So.. Are you enjoying my water there?" She asked sarcastically.

Water was still dripping from his mane, causing it to cover his face, as Leek looked over at the dark lioness. "Your water?" He looked at the pool, then countless others. "As I recall it, this is everybody's water." He sat down, lifting his front paws up to get the water out of his mane. "I was enjoying a little dip, as you can see... I'll acclimate to this desert in due time, of course, but for now... I needed JUST a little dip..." He then motioned with one his paws at the pool. "Of course, if you feel you need to use THIS particular hole.. Then be my guest. The water's of an optimum temperature to go swimming, and the evaporation off the coat is simply splendid." He noted to himself... He'd need to tone the sarcasm down a bit. This wasn't his brother he was talking to.

The way he was talking to her irritated Enya to no end. "Watch it, newcomer, or you will get a pelt full of scars before you can 'acclimate' yourself to our weather." Was all she said as she moved into the water. She stopped when it was up to her chest and dipped her head down to drink from it. Honestly, she was too hot to start a fight with him right now, but whatever. He didn't know that. Sighing, she moved in more until her feet couldn't reach the bottom and proceeded to swim about. However, she submerged herself rather quickly and came back up, sighing in relief.
"Who are you, anyway?"

Leek smirked, tail swishing along the sand. "Oh, don't worry, I wouldn't mind some scars!" He paced a bit, watching her swim. When she returned, he plunked down next to her. "What's life without a few? Like... Little reminders on being careful about what you do and say, and to who..." He rolled onto his back, stretching his paws out. "And I am Leek, formerly of the Jini-msemi pride. I came here because my grandfather spoke of a spiritual brother from here. Found no such lion, apparently he died of old age... I'll send word back to my grandfather later, though. And what about YOU, oh mighty princess?"

He looked so vulnerable on his back that she wanted to sink her claws into his soft stomach. A growl came from her as she got up and moved away from him. She liked her personal space, thank you very much. Enya's red eyes looked over the red male and tilted her head to the side. "It's hot. I'm a black lioness..." She motioned to the water and settled in it. "The name is Enya. I'm not a princess. They have more red on them than I do." She gave him a smirk. "Not so close. You're not a friend or relative."

His heterochromatic eyes seemed to light up, before he rolled over and watched her. "Then switch to a nocturnal life. You won't burn up in the sun so much." He got up, rather blatantly ignoring her comment about getting close to sit down next to her again. "Back in the swamps, dark lions often switched to being nocturnal so they could vanish into the dark... White lions did the same to give the look of ghosts haunting the water and trees." He looked over his shoulder as the big white medic with the purple eyes and pelt on his back passed them. "I don't think you need white lions to do that for the same reasons, though..." The medic gave him a look, but Leek couldn't tell if his eyes were laughing or scowling. The lion then continued on his way. The red lion turned back to the dark lioness. "Firekin are fierce enough, you don't NEED spook tactics..."

"Oh please, if I did that, I'd miss all the fun," she rolled her red eyes and just watched him carefully, tail flicking this way and that. It wasn't annoyance, but this is how she flirted. Enya wasn't the most stublte thing in the world. Or the most flirtatious. As he got close again, she shifted a bit more and just narrowed her eyes. "Oh, so you're a mud dweller, that explains a lot. As for hunting, well, I'm one of the best hunters of my age group, so you better watch out or I'll be hunting your hide next. Look here, Mudbug, keep your head down. You're new, and you don't know the ways. Not every male is going to let you have that much slack. You're lucky I haven't cuffed you yet. You're kind of irritating."

His ears folded back a bit as he scowled just slightly. "Mud-dweller? MUDBUG?!" Leek rose onto his paws, giving her a snort. "If I'm KIND of irritating, you're being ABSOLUTELY irritating!" He paced around her, standing on the other side and looking back with his gold eye. "I don't care about trying to out-hunt you, I only hunt well enough to help the pride when it needs it, and fill my own belly. As for getting slack..." He moved to shove her in the water. "You'd GET no slack in the swamps and your fat butt would SINK in the mud and water!" Their encounter had quickly gone from playful to... Well, maybe a more serious form of playful.

Enya smirked at the male's irritation and just hummed, shrugging a little as she stretched herself out. However, she didn't see him coming and was promptly shoved back into the water. The black female sputtered and let a serious growl escape he throat as she stood back up and let her ears go completely flat against her head. She was tense, pissed, and Enya was going to hurt this male if it was the last thing she did. No one called her fat. No one. With lightening speed, she charged at the male, leaping to grab his ear and mane with her teeth, looking to clip it or nick it. She wanted to permanently scare him as a reminder of who was the boss here. He was in her homeland.

He let out a surprised sound, both at succeeding in shoving her in the water and the speed at which she sought revenge. The swamp-born lion jumped back, and then mischief glinted in his bi-colored eyes. "Gotta catch me if you want revenge, fatty!" With the ease of a lion who lived in a terrain covered in trees, islands, and water, he twisted around and started to run. As the wind tugged at his wet hair, he felt a sting on his ear. She'd clipped it, possibly tore it, but it didn't matter to Leek - This was the most fun he'd had so far in the desert, and it felt great to get under somebody's fur!
