Everything was so different here. From the landscape to the lions, not a single thing looked familiar to her. It was a strange experience, but one she had worked hard for. She wasn't going to be scared away easily, this is where she belonged. Kyra kicked up some dust, as she strolled around the innards of the pride, she silently hoped someone would approach her for conversation. Mostly because she was far too stubborn to strike it up herself. It wasn't that she was shy, or awkward. It was just against her policy, to approach others with conversation. If they wanted to talk to her, they would do it dammit! Though so far it seemed her stubbornness was biting her in the a**, not a soul was interested in knowing her. Perhaps that darn Eish had told them about her dirty trick in their duel? Kyra's teeth gritted in anger as she tried to calm herself down. IT HADN"T BEEN A DIRTY TRICK! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! Her claws had become unsheathed, and were now digging into the dirt at her feet. If anyone were to take a glance at her now, they would likely be scared off by the faces she was making.

It had been a few weeks since his duel and Kasoro was getting rather bored with the few lions he knew. There had been a few new faces in passing from time to time, but mostly it was just the same guards. He didn't envy their position, though: they got to see many new recruits, rouges that wandered by...it was a nice position and he was seriously considering staying here for his duties once he was fully accepted into the pride. But, for the moment, he needed to get away from the lions he had been around for so long. He set out through the sands to the pride, hoping to find a new face or even a friend. The lions here were pretty grouchy, though, so he doubted he'd find someone right away. And, just as predicted, the first lioness he saw didn't look very happy. She was younger, but only a few months so. Completely red, he understood why she was here. This pride favored those with red markings. White and black were accepted, but beyond that, the pickings got slim. He was lucky for his own fur, matching the requirements nicely, even if his ruin markings he got from his mother were the only splash of red on him. The large white lion moved closer to the adolescent, tilting his head to the side, a very tiny grin on his face. "Why are you so upset?" he asked, coming to a stop a few paces from her. "It's a nice day, you don't seem injured...surely there must be another reason."

Kyra hadn't noticed the male's approach at all. She was too busy seeing red, just the mere thought of Eish was driving her mad! Sure the female may have looked innocent and sweet, but she just KNEW that she was out there spreading rumors about her right this minute! It just wasn't fair! She knew a fair amount about her new home to know that if word got out of her accident, she would likely be looked down on. And of course Eish wouldn't look at it as an accident! She had been fairly upset about the incident .... Kyra nearly jumped out of her skin as she felt the male's words reach her ears. With a loud, yet short yelp she whipped her head to inspect who he was. His pelt was pure white ... with only a few markings splashing across his features. And that mane ... pure black ... just like Eish's. Kyra glared at him for a moment, surely he wasn't related to her. He seemed too concerned for her, something she was sure Eish's family wouldn't be. "I-I'm fine, I was just thinking about something that i'm upset about! It's nothing!" No longer able to look the male in the eyes, she diverted her eyes to the ground, watching as he claws dug into the sand at her feet. "I was just thinking about my latest duel. I made a mistake at the end of it ... BUT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! But I don't think the other lioness agrees with me on that front."Getting the words out, really seemed to be helping her calm down. Or perhaps it was the idea that someone was actually speaking to her? Whatever it was, she appreciated it nonetheless.

Kasoro blinked in surprise as the younger lion snapped at him a bit. Well...not really snapped, just spoke sharply at. He could tell she was agitated, and soon he was told why. A soft 'ah' escaped him, and he shrugged his shoulders very slightly. "Well, we can't be perfect in all we do. I'm sure the other lioness will agree to that, at least. So long as no harm was done." No permanent harm, anyway. Those mistakes were always a bit harder to forgive and forget. "But still, you seem well-meaning. I doubt she'll hold it over you." He tilted his head just a bit to the side, blue eyes studying her rather tense form. "What is your name? I'm not sure I've seen you." Not that he'd seen many, but hey. "I'm Kasoro," he added, giving her just a tiny smile to hopefully calm her down.

Kyra visibly winced at Kasoro's words. She was quite sure she'd harmed Eish, though Eish hadn't said anything. It had all been in her mannerisms, she had been so polite when the duel started ... eagar even! But as the duel went on, and the accident occurred, she became short with her. Kyra's shoulder's slumped as she looked up at the male before her. Despite his likeness to Eish, he was quite handsome. The eerie glow of his markings only added to her appeal. Where did he come from, and why was he so calm and polite. He was a Firekin wasn't he? "Maybe you're right ... but I just can't help but think about the what if's! Ever since our duel, no one will look me in the eye! It's like i'm a mutant or something!" Realizing how whiny and pathetic she was sounding, Kyra cleared her throat. Whatever her troubles were, Kasoro probably didn't want to hear them. "Oh, i'm Kyra, you might not have seen me before. As I said, i'm pretty new." Trying her hand at a smile, she curled up the corners of her lips and tried to exude happiness. It was slightly weird for her, she hadn't smiled in so long ... maybe that would change someday. She really hoped it would. "So Kasoro, you seem like a pretty cool guy. You also seem new like myself ... forgive my curiosity ... I uh ... I get it from my Dad!" Kyra hesitated for a brief moment as a pang of misery rushed through her body. "But if you don't mind my asking, what brought you here to this place?"

Kasoro gave a quiet 'mm' in reply. He could see how something like that might bother the younger lion. In his youth he had been concerned with how others perceived him, but now that he was older he knew better than to worry himself with that. Now he simply cared to listen and learn, and make a few friends in the process. He had to snort quietly at the mutant comment. If anyone here was one of those, it would be him. He had overheard some of the guards speaking ill of Seers, so he knew to keep that side of himself quiet. "I see," he said with a slight nod. "And you'd be right in guessing that. I just joined not too long ago myself. Still on probation," he added with a little sigh. "I'm eager to explore all the lands have to offer, but until the moon is full again..." He nodded behind him. "I'm only permitted in that direction." The other question made him wonder how much he should share. He knew the diseased pride was to be kept quiet, so he shrugged just a bit and tossed his mane from his face. "I wanted a fresh start on life. My old pride was a bit...dead, if you will. No room for me to grow, to see new things, meet new people. I have a very strong sense of community, and the Firekin seemed like a good place to start. They're a very close group here." He cocked his head to the side, surveying Kyra. "And you? You're still growing. What made you leave wherever you're from to join here? And you dueled an adult?"

Kyra listened with actual interest to Kasoro's words. She loved hearing stories about others. It gave her a little bit of excitement, to listen to their stories and imagine the scenario as they told it. Just as she was doing now, though admittedly Kasoro hadn't given her much to go on. "Yes this pride does seem to be very tightly knit ... that's part of the reason I came as well. Back home my pride was divided, one group against another. It was a bit confusing to say the least." Shrugging off her own words, she nodded at his probation comment. Alas, she was in the same period, so she knew exactly how he felt. She couldn't wait to sink her claws into the deeper parts of the pride ... but first she had to wait. "Well as I said, my pride was a very confusing place. But aside from that it was also very uncomfortable for me to be there. Based on my coat, I was declared to be something I wasn't. I just wouldn't stand for it, and so I left." Nodding her head, she tried not to get too upset over her own story, which was a success given Kasoro's next question. "Ha! Oh no, no no no! I dueled someone my own age, though I think she might have been just a bit older than me. Our sizes were fair, and so we were matched together. Thankfully, I don't know how well I would have faired against an adult."

Kasoro nodded slightly, his brows furrowed just a bit. While certainly near her adulthood, Kyra was young to have made that decision to leave her pride. He wondered where she was from, that labeled her as something just because of her coat color. Although, he thought to himself, the Firekn were guilty of the same thing. While they favored coats with reds, whites, and blacks, they shunned those that held any colors outside of that fiery spectrum. "Oh, that's a relief," he said with a weak smile as the subject was changed. "Here I thought I had some master fighter on my hands. My duel was...fun, actually. The lion who I dueled with kept it very simple and he seemed to enjoy himself as well. It was a good introduction to the Firekin," he said quietly. "But now...its' rather dull. Once we're allowed access I think that will change very quickly, though." There were always scouts bringing news of what was happening in the pride to the guard post that he was stationed at. There never seemed to be a dull moment. If it wasn't flooding, it was prey beasts moving in to pride lands.

For the first time since their meeting, Kyra finally cracked a smile, and even let out a few giggles. They were only temporary of course, but the fact that they had appeared at all was enough for her. "Ha! Don't be so sure that you don't." Kyra offered Kasoro a quick wink and let out a playful growl. "I can be quite the fighter if provoked ... ask around ... someday my name will be legend around here!" Now grinning from ear to ear, she listened to Kas' words, nodding her head where appropriate. "My duel wasn't so bad either ... except for the end ... which was an accident. A frown washed over her features before she continued. "Up until the end we were evenly matched, but my final blow was what did the trick."She listened on as Kasoro spoke of what could lie ahead in their futures. "I bet it will. But we can't be too eager for things to change! I hear there are some crazy things happening out there right now. Perhaps its best we're stuck here for the time being."

Kasoro smiled as Kyra giggled. Ah, that was more like it! He was glad she didn't seem to be as constantly grouchy as the other Firekin that he had met. Granted, she did seem to have the potential to become one of those, especially if she had won a fight at this age. "I have no doubt you'll end up at the top of the chain here. You seem very driven," he said with a little nod of his head. 'I'm more of the stick to the shadows kind of guy...part of the masses. One among many." He liked being able to disappear, just be a face in the crowd. Listening and watching were his favorite pass times and, as long as he was around others, he was content to do just that. He tilted his head a bit before nodding. There had been some odd things going on in the pride. "Indeed. This seems to be the uneventful side of the pride," Kasoro said with a little laugh. "Lucky for us. I'd rather not be tossed head-first into a conflict without any sort of training. Believe me, I'd need it." While he had fought well enough to get into the pride, Kasoro knew he was severely lacking in any sort of technique.

Kasoro's words were like candy to the young female, and if her blush could have been visible, she probably would have burst into flames. He was such a sweet lion, and she really hoped that both her and his words would one day come true. Maybe when they did ... she could show him how well she had progressed through a duel? Yeah ... that would be cool! Kyra was just about to open her mouth, when she realized the placement of the sun. Stunned, she halted her words and looked around rather quickly before looking back at Kasoro with a somewhat worried expression on her face. "Oh, i'm sorry I have to cut you short Kasoro! But, I have to get going, the sun's going down!"Dipping her head in a sudden bow, she wished him well and darted off in the opposite direction from where the two had been facing. SilverLutz END Did I mention she's scared of the dark? XD
