Nergui was actually in her own hut for a change, perched on the edge of her bed, and digging through a small box of assorted odds and ends. Apparently searching for something. That thing being a small draw string poach in which she kept whatever jewelry she had retained from the islands, as well as anything knew. It wasn't much, a pair of earrings, a ring, a moonstone necklace made by her cousin, but for it was enough. When she'd been hurt Soren had carefully removed it all, tucking it safely away, and she'd left it off while she healed. Now that the bandages were mostly gone she sought the familiar comfort of the necklace again.

After a few moments of rummaging she finally found it, and carefully withdrew it from the pouch so not to tangle the chain. For a minute she held it in her hand, looking it over for any signs of wear or damage that might have befallen it when she'd faced the hunter, but there was nothing. It was perfect as the day her cousin had placed it around her next.

Smiling, she unclasped the chain and lifted it to circle her neck, fiddling with the catches behind her head, though having little luck with clasping it herself.

Bastion arrived noisily. He barely managed to stay standing as he tumbled into the room, breathing a sigh of relief when he saw his cousin had returned. "Oh thank Medea, you're home." He whispered hoarsely, dropping down to his knees at her feet. He pressed his head against her knee, and remained there, catching his breath. "Are you all right? Where have you been? Are you alone? Do you have a skellyphone?"

One of these questions was not like the others.

The priestess was caught quite by surprise as her cousin came stumbling into her hut and she stared after him at a loose for words as she hurried over and dropped to his knees at her feet, his cheek making a pillow of her knee. It made her frown in concern, and she lay a hand on his head, fingertips sliding through dark hair as she tried to sooth him. "Bastion, what ever has gotten into you?" Silver brows pinched above the bridge of her nose, and she bent so she could give him as much of a hug as she was able in their current position, then lay her forehead against his hair.

"I'm alright now," she assured him, combing through his hair. "Soren watched over me while I was at my worst, you needn't worry." She was sorry she hadn't gotten a chance to see him before now, to explain things, and to assure him she was alright. He seemed so worried. But wait..

"Skellyphone..?" She lifted her head, frowning again as she looked down at her cousin. She didn't know what he was talking about, but she could guess that he'd heard such a term from the students.

"Oh, good. So glad to hear it." The relief that went through him was palpable, and he pushed himself up to sit beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist and holding her in a loose hug. "I was worried, you know. I came here last night, and you were not here. I stayed for quite a while. I even borrowed a few things. I hope you don't mind." The meager clothing he'd borrowed was still on his body as he spoke of it. "It's as if you knew I was coming. Did you? Terrible Noni, always one step ahead of her cousin."

He leaned in and kissed her cheek. "But thank you. It was well appreciated."

And then the topic of the skellyphone had him all jittery again. "Yes, ah, it's a little device, the little ones use it to call one another and send them pictures." He sounded especially excited about the pictures aspect. "Will you help me acquire one? Please, it's so very important. I need one right now."

The mare couldn't help the shadow of a smirk that appeared at the idea of her having anticipated her cousin's visit. "Of course I did. There has been clothing here for you since the moment I realized I had not lost you with the rest when the islands fell." She chuckled, looping an arm around him as well as he hugged her. "I'm sorry I wasn't here for your visit, I would have delighted in your company." Which was not to say the company the had kept the night before had not been exemplary..

He lay a peck on her cheek, and she leaned to rest her head on his shoulder, giving his hip a little squeeze.

"Is that what they call those things?" She wrinkled her nose, but then straightened up to stare at her cousin as she requested her help in acquiring one of the devices. "Bas, whatever for?" She was frowning again, brows pinched.

"Awuhhh.. it is an.. important social tool!" He wrung his hands out nervously. "You said you wanted me to get out more often, and I am.. ahah.. certainly doing that. But let us forget reasons, and talk more of acquisition. Where might I be able to get one? Is there a box of them somewhere that we might barter for one?"

He hadn't seen much in the way of merchants in Halloween, so he had no idea how one 'got' anything, anymore. He bartered with other jewelcrafters for his raw materials, but none of them had ever had anything resembling a skellyphone in their wares.

"You're not busy, are you? I'm quite adamant about getting one tonight." He stood up off the bed, and started to pace the room. After a minute, he stopped, forcing his face to look as nonchalant as possible. "Say, cousin, I am idly curious. What say you about the little ones? The students, those creatures at the nearby school? Have you formed an opinion on them as of yet?"

Bi-colored eyes narrowed upon the other horseman as he wrung his hands and insisted upon the importance of this device. It was a little odd, but she had to admit, Bastion had always been just a little off. More so since the destruction of their home, if his current residence inside a bush was any indicator.

In the end though she sighed, defeated. She could not deny him, her beloved cousin. "I am not certain for sure, but I believe one could acquire one at the maul." Lucky for him, Neru had actually been there, hunting for flouncy sheaf dresses she had taken to wearing when they were not thrown into battle.

Dark features fell into lines of bemused resignation, and she shook her head as she rose to her feet. "You are in luck, I have no plans for the day, so I may assist in this fool's errand of your's."

His question concerning her opinion of the students had her looking over at him thoughtfully as she moved to replace the box she'd been rummaging through back on a shelf. The necklace she'd been struggling to clasp was safely in place once again, glittering just above the curve of dark breasts. "Nothing negative," she admitted after a moment, gaze dropping to a jar on the table beside her bed. When she picked it up it jangled, and as she tipped it over the bed a good amount of silver pumpkin seeds bounced against her blankets. "We'll need these."

She couldn't completely avoid his question as she might have been planning. As she herded the seeds into one pile she sighed, connecting the dots that had been laid out before her. "They are not a part of us, and as such are not equal, but if you have fallen a fancy of a pretty little thing in that school I would not blame you. Many among them are pleasing to the eye, and inciting in their own right." She recalled the brief affections of a certain skinwalker the year before. "Is that what this is about?"

"The MAUL!" Bastion cried out in victory. "Let us venture forth to the MAUL!"

He had no idea what that meant.

He was at the door instantly, holding it open for his cousin despite whether she was actually ready to leave or not. He shut it closed rather hard when she gave him her opinion, assumptions and all. Black skin flushed with color at the implications, and he put both of his hands up immediately to refute it. "Now, cousin, I simply wondered curiously! I have not taken any fancies! No fancies were taken! Absolutely no fancies have been acquired, I was - I mean, I have been reaching out to others, expanding my horizons, that is all! I wished to be alone no longer.."

That last sentence had been said a little too raw, a little too genuinely, and he was quick to take it back. "B-but that does not mean I'm.. I'm.. plucking young fruit!"

His face had never been redder.

Nergui gathered the seeds and spilled them all into a pouch not unlike the one she'd kept her jewelry in, only larger, and with a long strap so she could string it over her shoulder. She was smiling as he tried to deny what she knew to be true. An amused little curl of dark lips that only grew all the more pronounced the more he back peddled.

She let him have his denial though, saying nothing to argue his point, even when emotion leaked heavy upon his words. Not until he had said his fill did she speak up again, striding forward so she could reopen the door that he had just closed. "What's her name?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 7:32 pm
Bastion stared at the open door for a moment, and then slumped in defeat. "Nooonniiii," He whined, slugging his way out the door and keeping his head down. "I insist that anything you're thinking is a far cry from reality. I did not leave my solitude just to find myself weeping over another female's rejections." His head lifted, and he adjusted his vest nervously, before a very helpless little expression of doting flickered across his face. "But if you must know, her name is Sophie. I think I shall call her Sophia, if she accepts it. And I will escort her to her promenade. Nothing more." The seriousness in his face returned when he looked at his cousin. "Nothing. More."

The priestess waited through the whine of her name and was rewarded with a name, and a very lovely name at that. She could only imagine the filly it belonged to to be a pretty little thing, specially if she was managing to compete with Mjoll for the stallion's affections.

His ardent insistence of the innocent nature of their arrangement was finally accepted, if not in mind, then at least in voice. "As you say sweet Cousin. If you say this Sophia is a date and nothing more, then I will leave it at that."

"Although," she went on, falling into step beside the dark skinned male. "She has left quite the impression if your frantic desire for a skellyphone is anything to go on." Silver and gold eyes slide side long. "She is a sweet girl?" Nergui hoped so. Bastion deserved far more adoration and attention then she alone could, or should, provide.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 7:52 pm
Bastion breathed a very long sigh of relief, and wrapped his cousins arm around his, looping it. He patted her hand, and together they walked, though he had to let her lead as he had no idea where they were going.

But the topic of Sophie came up once more, and he had to remind himself that Noni was just curious, and had already accepted his adamant stance on the topic. So, it gave him the freedom to be honest; something he could only ever do with Noni. Honesty was a feature hard earned from the horseman - his cousin had always been the only one to receive it from him.

"If I were another man, I would tell you such wondrous things about the impression she left on me. She is beautiful, of course, unmatched in my humble opinion. But that is oft irrelevant. You would adore her, she is a soft and gentle flower. Very humble, and quiet. And yes, sweet." His lips turned up in a fond smile as he remembered. "Very, very sweet. Kind. A pure heart. Ah, so very pure, Noni." He patted her hand again. "And I am not the stallion to change that." He was very adamant about his intentions. Sophie would remain safe in his hands.

Nergui was happy to walk arm in arm with her cousin, and as he pattered her hand she leaned into him, letting their strides sync, though she still held the lead, aiming them towards the school itself and then the gates. The maul was a bit of a walk, but Bastion provided excellent company, and it would give them time to talk.

The mare wondered curiously what sorts of things he'd be telling her about the filly if he were indeed this other man, because the compliments that slipped past his lips painted a vivid picture of admiration and, dare she believe, attraction. As much as he vowed to leave her as pure as she was found, she still believed he was beginning to fancy this girl. Though from his description, she couldn't blame him.

She wasn't of the Clans, but just this once, that didn't matter. For so long the stallion had been crawling in the wake of Mjoll's shadow, all but begging for crumbs of affection. No matter what she, or anyone else said, it made little difference to Bastion and his love. Eventually she had begun to turn a blind eye to it. Never to the point that she would let her cousin be significantly used, but chasing the mare had seemed to make him.. Perhaps not happy, but he seemed to have purpose.

The stallion on her arm though, was different. Nervous, but not desperate. She liked this change in her kin, and if this school girl could bring it about, then who was she to stand in the way?

"I look forward to meeting her at the promenade then." She smiled, and it was soft and doting. No one could ever say Nergui did not love her cousin.

"-And she is a craftswoman, she creates with her hands as well!" On, and on, he went. "She is a seamstress. She says she wants to create my attire for the promenade herself, and has already taken my measurements-" Did his face just turn red? It was hard to tell, and he didn't stop talking. "-And began designing there in front of me. I'm sure it will be spectacular." A short sigh, and he smiled proudly. "A craftswoman, Noni. What luck."

He blinked, turning to look at his cousin. "Is Soren escorting you to this event?" There might have been a little suspicion in his voice when he asked, but he kept himself in check.

Unless she was much mistaken, her cousin was smitten. It made her smile, seeing him so excited, and better then that, happy. Not just for a moment, but in whole.

She let him talk, steering them through the town's streets towards the imposing outline of the maul, and couldn't remember a more serene moment with her since they were mere toddlers. Pride be damned, this denizen of Halloween had her approval, and she had not even met her yet.

So caught caught up in details of craftsmanship and luck, Nergui didn't realize Bastion had steered the conversation back to her until the the subtle change in the tone of his voice sank in. She blinked, lifting her head from his shoulder to look at him, and a very self satisfied smile bloomed to life on her lips. "Hi is."
