Alright, so while I tend to get a little passionate in a lot of what I talk about, I very rarely get angry. Well, just a little while ago my cousin pushed one of my buttons and I got angry, and now I'm gonna rant about it.

Okay, so in a previous thread I mentioned joinin' a datin' website. Well, I also put a comment about it on my facebook page. While talkin' to my cousin, it became known that it is a datin' website for asexuals, to which my cousin replied:

"how the heck do asexuals date....this seems like an oxymoron..."

So yeah. This really pissed me off. I've had many people tell me very similar things. In a nutshell, a lot of people think that since I can't feel a sexual attraction to anyone, I am incapable of lovin' someone as deeply as those who have a sex drive. Some people have also told me that the reason I don't have a sex drive is because I either haven't tried sex yet, and thus don't know how good it is, or I haven't met the right person. This annoys me to no end.

So yeah. Annoyed.

Asexuality is just one of those things most people don't understand. I've even watched a few video's of people trying to explain Asexuality and they don't really explain it in a way that can make sense to anyone. Then they include all the people that are asexual but have sex, and mix it up even more with a complicated mess.

Though what is considered sexual attraction can be independent of sex.

there's a difference between sex and intimacy.

So I've kind of never really been sure what you consider Asexuality, and then I default to my grade 10 planning class where a kid said the definition is being sexually attracted to animals.

At least for me, asexuality means that I have no desire to have sex with anyone, ever. When I look at a person, I never thing "Man, I would love to rub genitalia when them."

I just assume that sexual attractions is being attracted to someone sexually, which ultimately means wanting to have sex with them at some point.

I think I'm just going to go back to trying to create a world where we don't have to identify with a sexuality, that way everyone can do what they want and words don't need definitions.

The other thing that gets mixed up whenever someone explains asexuality is the difference between no sex drive and low sex drive.

Sexuality just isn't allowed to exist.

Yeah. In all honesty, I don't care about sexuality. What bothers me is how everyone else seems to think it's the most important thing in the world and because I have no interest in it, there's somethin' wrong with me and I'll never be at other people's level. It's obnoxious.

But of course there's something wrong with you. That's because everyone has something wrong with them, when you take a certain perspective.

I don't think it's somethin' that's wrong, but rather that everyone is unique.

Well, from a biological purpose on earth standpoint, there is something wrong with you, same with homosexuals. You're useless to our species's reproduction! xp

Humans are beyond that, though. Many "first world" countries even have a negative birth rate.

But... the majority is still instinctually heterosexually reproduction-driven.

Still, intimacy (hugs, etc) is pretty intrinsic to a relationship (sexual or familial). The proximity creates a bond. I feel like at some point you mentioned not even liking that, and so I'd have to ask you - where would your dividing line be between a best friend and someone you'd date? To me it's the intimacy, even if non-sexual.

Evolutionarily, there is actually a purpose for homosexuals, so I wouldn't say there is somethin' wrong with them, but rather they have a different purpose other then reproduction.

Also, I put a lot of thought into it, and I think the main reason why I don't like physical contact, mainly huggin', is because the only experiences I've had, for the most part, have been when I was forced to hug family members that I knew hated me, and I could just feel the awkardness and hatred in their hugs, and I hated that feelin' of bein' up so close against someone who hated me like that. There was one instant when I was hugged by someone who really meant it, and it felt great, so I think I could get into huggin'.

Also, when I'm in my furry outfit, I do have an odd desire to hug people. xd

Aoi: humans are still animals. The only reason we have a sex drive is to encourage us to reproduce.
man+man or woman+woman does not create a baby.

But in modern times reproduction is secondary to the reproductive process. With all these contraceptives and various non-reproductive-pairings, it doesn't matter who has sex with who so long as they're mindful of STI's.

I don't have any issue with almost any sexual preference (even if that preference is the lack thereof). The only ones that come to mind are the ones involving abducting/killing people, and anything to do with children until we can give those poor people a virtual reality where they won't hurt anyone.

Is someone who does not reproduce useless to the reproduction of the species?

They're not contributing to the reproduction, so, yes?

But again, humans aren't bunnies. Or tribbles. There's a lot more to life than making babies.

There's nothing wrong with asexuality, and I think you're going about it the right way. The most important thing is to not fall for someone who is sexual, as that is not compatible. Sexuality is not required for love, but having the same sex-drive and sex-interests is definitely important!

For me, I need to be sexually desired to feel loved. Otherwise, my self-esteem goes to s**t thinking that my lover doesn't "want" me.

And what I've learned in the last couple years, is that I am a dominant. I prefer dominant submissives... meaning, they are typically dominant with their work and friends, but are submissive with me. biggrin
