Pridal Information
General Information The Duniya'Santulana is a Pride divided into two factions. The entire Pride is brought together under the idea that there is always a sense of balance to the world that must be maintained. Right and Left, Dark and Light, Night and Day. These are the constants that keep their world spinning, and the two factions of the Pride are devoted to keeping that balance. The Sages and the Witches are always separate, never inter-mingling unless it is for one of the Pridal holidays. It is forbidden for the two to mix, forbidden to combine the forces of Darkness and Light in fear of the balance being destroyed. Dark with Dark, Light with Light. However, despite the fact that the two remain apart, there is a great respect between each other. For without their balance, they believe Time itself would stop....
Located In a valley surrounded by a crescent of mountains lives the Duniya'Santulana. This terrain is harsh, the top tier mountainous and cold, for the training of the Witches and Sages. It slowly slopes down to a second tier of flatter terrain. This is where there are dens for members of the Pride, divided in half by a crack that is believed to have been formed by the Gods themselves at this point, which continues down into the valley below. At the base of their mountain home lies the valley and junglee, which is where most hunting and celebration takes place, as well as where the two Prides may intermingle, as that's where the crack in the earth ends.

History of the Witch and Sage
In the beginning, there were only two. Mated, they'd come such a long way from their home. It's unknown where the first Sage and Witch came from...or how they'd come to settle in the mountain...but they did. As the Pride grew around them, made of their children and strangers, things seemed to be going well. The mates were happily settled....Until a rocking of the Earth split the land in two, dividing the Pride....and the Mates. Many whispered that this was the work of the Gods. That the Darkness and the Light were not meant to mix. The children of the Leaders were divided by their pelts. Dark to Dark, Light to Light, and the Pride fell into its separated ways. Into the Umbrans and the Lumens...named after the two Lions who'd founded the Pride.
In the midst of the Chaos created by the separation of the earth, however, two gems were found. One was a beautiful crimson, the other a soft blue. The Lumen claimed the blue for their own, and the Umbra claimed the red. They have named these Gems the Eyes of the World. It's believed that the Leaders possess these Gems in order to be able to better perceive what must be done to hold the balance of the world together. The two gems are the Pride's gift from the Gods, and their most sacred relics...held higher than any others. It's also believed that the two after their parents who held these stones created something that now rests at the top of the Mountain...something that is known only as the Golem....Something that the leaders will not explain to anyone....
200 years have passed, and the Pride has thrived on the knowledge that you do not mingle Light and Dark. Only two Children survive who have direct ties to the original leaders of the Pride, whose blood still contains the Taint. Cer'eza for the Umbrans, and _____________(TBA) for the Lumens. They each lead their faction with dedication and heartfelt devotion. Under their close watch, and training, the Pride is thriving and strong. However, they keep close watch for trouble on the horizon, as Cer'eza has had an inkling that there is a chance....just a chance....that an old past might come back to haunt them....

Views and Ceremonies
Views Religion Though the Pride believes in a sense of light and Dark, Balance, they do not specifically worship any set deities. The Gods are not a Ritulistic part of the Pride's daily life, and they look to the ideas first and foremost. This may change as time goes on, but for now, they look to their Leaders and history to discover more.
Pelt Color It is believed that the Gods show their favor towards the children of the Sages and Witches by channeling their destiny into their pelts. The lighter of the children will be given to the Lumens, and the darker pelts are given over to the Umbrans. Mixtures of pelts will be judged by the Leaders of the Pride.
Relationships There is only one real prohibition on the relationships between the Pride. You can mate with who you like...outside of the fact that they must be on your side. It is forbidden for a Lumen and Umbra to mate, lest they incur the wrath of the very World itself.
Non-Lions and Flings Flings are not at all looked down upon in the pride, as it brings new blood into the land. The partners of the flings are welcomed to join, though until they go through training, they are often left in lower ranks.
Non-lions are more than welcome within the pride's lands, under any rank they find themselves drawn to, aside from Queen or King. However, they must still adhere to all rules of the Pride, namely the laws of the Pelt colors.
Ceremonies and Tradition
Mafunzo Kwa'Vijana - The Trials This is one of the most important ceremonies in a young pride-member's life. Once they've hit their Juvenile years, it's believed that they are ready to take on their place in their side of the Pride. They are sent up into the cold of the mountain's peak, with an older Pride member, and taught the ways of either the Lumen or the Umbra. This training can take a lot of time, and it depends on both mentor and student on when they return. However, when it is done, the cub ascends to their rank in the Pride, and is considered an adult.
Ibada'ya Utawala The choosing of the new pride rulers is an important ritual. When the leaders are near the end of their reign, they choose one of their Children to succeed them. Usually, these are cubs who have shown great promise in their position as a Witch or Sage, and have proven themselves in the Trials.
Holidays These are the main Holidays honored by the pride. Usually those within the pride lands celebrate them together, as the entire Pride (both Lumen and Umbra) gather together to celebrate these.
Usiku Kupanda (This will be a time of ORP for the Umbrans, held in December, ending the evening of December 22) This time is spent in the darkness of the longest night of the year. The Usiku Kupanda is the time of the longest night, for daylight is overcome, and the sun flees earlier from the sky. This is not a time to curse the darkness, but a time simply to accept the long night as a part of the great wheel of life. Take comfort in the knowledge that, though the night is long, the sun will return again on the morrow. When the day passes, the sun begins to remain longer in the day sky in its journey around the sacred wheel of the seasons. The week leading up to this day is a time that is held in reverence by the Umbrans, as it is the time when their 'Power' is strongest.
Siku'ya Mpya'ya (Ostara) (on the Spring Equinox - date will differ from year to year)
The equinox is a time both of fertility and new life, and of balance and harmony. Light and dark are here in balance, but the light is growing stronger. It is a time of birth, and of manifestation. The days grow lighter and the earth grows warmer. This is a time both of growth and of balance, and the pride may work on balancing itself. This is one of two times during the year where the two pride leaders bring the Eyes of the World together, and keep them side by side until the rise of the sun on next day.
Siku'ya Moyo (Litha) (on the Summer Solstice - date will differ from year to year. Celebration of the Lumens)
At the Summer Solstice the sun is at its highest and brightest and the day is at its longest. This is a time of beauty, love, strength, energy, rejoicing in the warmth of the sun, and the promise of the fruitfulness to come. It seems a carefree time, yet in the knowledge of life, is the knowledge of death, and beauty is but transitory. Usually games involving a show of strength, such as tug of war, wrestling, etc. are appropriate here, and are often staged at gatherings.
Siku'ya Usawa (Modron) (on the Autumnal Equinox - date will differ from year to year) The two equinoxes are times of equilibrium. Day and night are equal and the tide of the year flows steadily, but whilst the Spring Equinox manifests the equilibrium before action, the Autumnal Equinox represents the repose after action, the time to take satisfaction in the work of the summer and reap its benefits. Small groups gather to watch sunsets and remember the warm days of spring and summer even as winter approaches.
This is one of two times during the year where the two pride leaders bring the Eyes of the World together, and keep them side by side until the rise of the sun on next day.
