 This was it. The moment he had been waiting for. Kuzia glanced up at his opponent, feeling a mix of excitement and worry. What if she managed to beat him? He batted the thoughts away. There was no other option: he had to win. He had something to prove to himself. He wasn't sure that he could overcome the humiliation of losing. He had no vendetta against the female who he would be dueling. In fact, he was somewhat grateful. She would, hopefully, be the key to joining a place he felt he could fit in best. Or she could be the lock, keeping him out of the pride. He dug his claws into the ground. "I'm ready when you are," he said, exceptionally calm. He wouldn't let his anxiety effect this.

Volkeno looked a little indifferent when she moved to the battle area, looking over at the male with a very relaxed, mellow sort of look. she offered him a smiled, her tail swishing about in the dirt behind her, just to kick some up a little bit. He looked like a decent fighter, but for her, that wasn't really anything she held close to her heart. Not anymore, anyway. There had been a time when fighting had been the only thing she could think about.She had been all about the battle. But that was before she had been given a bit of perspective. She sighed softly. "Well, friend, I'm ready whenever you are," she offered lightly, rolling her head about her shoulders. it have been a long time since she had done this- she wondered if she was going to be able to do anything at all. but there was only one way to find out. "Bring it on."

She looks so calm. "My pleasure," he replied, his anxiety rearing up again at her mellow demeanor. She wasn't worried one bit, it seemed like. Maybe she knew something he didn't. Who knew how many times she had been in this dueling area? How many times had she won? What if she was some renowned fighter or something? No, that's not important. This is about me.Maybe he felt like he had more to lose, though he knew he could always try again later. If he lost, he'd train harder. Work more. This was one thing he wasn't going to give up easily on. "Let's do this!" he roared.

Volkeno watched the other, tilting her head slightly to one side. It seemed like he was ready to get going, and that was probably a good thing. Wanting to get right to fighting was something needed in the pride they lived in. Well, the pride SHE lived in. The pride he WANTED to live in. She, however, did not rise to the roar of challenge, merely watching him with a mellow smile. "Well alright," she hummed, let's get to it then." She sprang forward, launching a paw at him quickly. No point in going easy on him, even if she did think that fighting wasn't the best way they could welcome new members into the pride. Not anymore.
