Anyone at all? I know we are. My dad was put on furlowed in crap. I still live with my parents since my gf is tough to live with and such. So our dad was put off as non-essential. It sucks.
But yeah, it sucks. I hope it doesn't last for like many weeks or we could be screwed. Our dad earns like 90000+ dollars a year, so if he doesn't work, we (me and my mom) are screwed. I may even have to help out with their bills since I don't use my money for anything yet since I do not live with my gf yet or anything. I have 650$ right now and don't know what to use it for. So yeah, it sucks.

So no one is affected by this? No americans?
Stuff like this happening shows how much American sucks, and isn't at the top anymore. We suck. Japan and South Korea are better off than we are. We suck. Canada is better off. Things like this happening shows how much we suck. Seriously!!!!!!!!!! If we continue, me and my dad and mom are screwed, cuz we own this awesome house cuz of dad. But the more they keep the gov shut down we will suffer. So yeah. Shows how much American sucks since dad works for the gov. But I am not affected since the schools are ran by the state, and Dollar General is capitalist, so I may have to help my parents to pay bills cuz of this stupid problem. Shows how much American sucks right now.

This is what happens when you have two parties so dead set on their sides. Least that's my understanding on it.
I heard people in the food stamp programs especially WIC are having trouble getting them accepted.
GO Canada!

My family is bein' affected since both of my parents work for the government.
On a somewhat positive note, though, both of my parents were takin' off work anyway since both of their mothers aren't doin' very well, so at least they aren't losin' vacation days anymore.

I think its odd that while national parks are closed......they still get to drill for oil in them. Talk about skewed priorities. Its certainly not a full shut-down: which I'm relieved about. However, WIC and headstart (programs that support the poor children in our country) are suffering. Yet, thats not what people are complaining about on the media. Seriously, the panda cam being turned off is not nearly as important as the fact that 5,000+ children are now out of school as a result of the shutdown.

I think it is ridiculous that the GOP has decided to hold funding hostage in order to get their way. Especially, since a majority of the nation oppose defunding obamacare. And a majority of Americans oppose shutting down the government over it. The republicans are getting the blame for the shutdown in Americans eyes and I think they deserve it. Not to say the democrats aren't getting hit as well, but democrats are at 32% approval rating compared to republicans 17% approval rating.
I work with kids and honestly this looks like the republicans having a temper tantrum because they aren't getting their way. And the republicans pretending they are interested in compromise is ludicrous. They made it clear before the shut down that the only thing they wanted was to defund/rolled back. That isn't compromise. I don't think obamacare is without flaws, but I think people being able to get insurance with pre-existing conditions is important.
Anyhow, my point with all of this that it isn't my understanding that both parties are refusing to budge on their stance. Its that the republicans idea of compromise doesn't fit the definition of compromise.
Just edit the damn law and move on.

I think a temper tantrum is the best way to describe the situation. While I admit to not bein' the most educated on the situation, it just seems like there's two sides to a situation, and both sides are too stubborn to accept the other side, and therefore everythin', or rather many things, have to be put on hold until it's all sorted out and one side finally gives in.
The thing that I think bothers me most is the fact that both sides probably thinks that it'll come across as a sign of weakness to back down on what they want, regardless of the fact that so many people are sufferin'. It's all about lookin' the strongest, despite the fact that both sides look pretty stupid and arrogant right now.
That bein' said, from what I've heard, the republicans are more to blame, or rather the representatives of republicans (since, of course, not all are to blame, and I can't think of a better way to phrase it). From what I've seen and heard, Obamacare, while not the best plan (and there are some glarin' issues), isn't anywhere close as bad as the republican side (again, not all) seem to think and say it is.
I do know that my own personal beliefs affect the side I stand for, but when I put that aside, it just looks like two completely different sides with two completely different set of views are refusin' to come to an agreement on a matter that they could never come to an agreement upon, but are forced to, since our country is founded upon everyone havin' to come to one conclusion.
It's been said many times, but the US is becomin' more and more divided into two distinct groups, and I don't know how much longer it can take before it snaps.

Just split them into two countries Republican's of America, and Democrat's of America, I'm sure they'll all do well.

I think splittin' would be a great idea, but it's too much of a change to ever actually happen. Not to mention the debt we're all in, so it would be difficult, as well as the amount of people who would have to move or face laws they don't agree with and such.
A lovely idea, but it would never happen.
People with power just need to learn to grow up, which I'm beginnin' to realize is more of a thought than an actual thing.

The two party system doesn't work anymore. And the same old representatives keep getting reelected because there aren't any term limits for them.

WOW two seperate countries? What areas will it affect ROP?
I have not sure what it will cover.
ALL I KNOW IS that I read a horrible letter today that if I do not have healthcare coverage by Jan 1 2014 I will have to pay over 100$ A YEAR for if I do not cover it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY s**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am talking to this with my parents about this. Cuz right now it is if I get to have my parents coverage until I am 26 or so but it is 200$ a month so I can't go to the doctor unless I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean cmon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother Blaine has healthcare since late 2012, what a waste. biggrin

New jersey must looooove owning the Statue of Liberty right now emotion_awesome NY has barely been affected by it. Oh, that zoo that's federally funded in your state? Ours would be state-funded and so still be OPEN There's maybe one or two things closed here and there, but NY is still up and running, more or less Chris Collins is pushing something that makes it so that while the government is in shutdown, THEY DO NOT GET PAID. He's been refusing his paycheck as well
