My first experience that I can remember was being sailed into a great structure, a temple within a cave. It was meant to be my grave, even though I had lived such a short life. There was a great spirit who resided here, that would torment my village and demand sacrifices on the first full moon of every year. However, this was a very peculiar sensation for us, because it was not the village he haunted, but the people. We had migrated to a different village many years before I was born, but he followed us. He targeted solely us, and wished to do us harm. And we could do nothing, mere people with weak bending and fragile bodies. We accepted his demands, and so every year a child would die. I was to be this child, chosen because he recognized that I was a bender, not normal like many of the others.
It was in this cave that I realized the significance of my humanity. Before, I had never even noticed what sort of thing I was. I didn't feel like an animal or a human, just a body of energy connected to the universe. I felt more like a spirit than a man, and to this day that feeling remains. It is because of that feeling that I survived, but not in the way you might think.
That spirit, who hated us and chased after us, had an ambition. Because the next avatar in the cycle would spring in the Earth Kingdom, and the cycle had been renewed, any one of us children could have been them. When the signs were right and the moon shined fully, he would take another wager. But because of my acknowledgement of the spiritual world, I came to understand what he was after. I offered to him, with my weak and fragile voice, that he take my bending away rather than my life. That way, I would not be an avatar at all, even if I were really him. He accepted, and so my connection to that part of myself was severed for a long time. I fell into a deep depression for a while, but then moved on. I became a farm hand and avoided people, who seemed to believe the spirit had cursed me or possessed me. I grew to despise them, and actually grew to admire the spirits. Even despite his malevolence, it was for purpose, not for pleasure.
I grew to do things solely for purpose, myself. Everything I did was for reason. I did not slack, or play around, or chat about mindless things. I was diligent, training my body and mind, as well as assisting the needs of my village. It was all for the circle of life that I did this, and for my own spiritual enlightenment. So enlightened was I that, after many years of this horrible block, my bending returned to me. At first I was in disbelief, then fear that he might come back for me. But he didn't, and I was strong. Eventually, I came to confront him, and showed him my new powers. I had become a very powerful bender, perhaps even capable of defeating him. However, rather than fight me, he only laughed. You are not the Avatar, he said. I have no interest in you.
Sometimes, I thought that maybe I was the Avatar. How else could I free myself from that spiritual leech, stealing my bending from me? It made no sense. I also always felt so connected to the spirits. When I was a little bit younger than right then, I had encountered a lady with long hair and red eyes. She watched over me from behind some trees, and with her finger she pointed at my face. Her lips moved, but no words came out. I was scared at first, but then exalted. I thought I'd been chosen for something special, but I guess I wasn't.
Later in my life, I became a great earthbender. I started to wander off from my home town, meeting animals and spirits and trying to make a friend of them all. And one day, I received a visit from a group of very peculiar people: some sages who, apparently, knew who I was. They called me the Avatar. The beginning of a strange life.

The Sultan handled that higher affairs of the military forces for the Fire Lord, in most cases, they commanded the entire rank of the military as the general and had the last say in any plans of invasion, guerrilla warfare, etc. The first Sultan was determined along the year of the spirits, the first one being Sho's father, Hue Yo Lao. Sho and Ren were his only two children and their mother had abandoned the poor boys when they were young, running away to the Earth Kingdom in order to hide. Ren cared about Sho but also held a deep resentment for his younger brother as Sho could firebend at at the ago of 7 with ease as it took two years longer for Ren to start. The same went with mastering the use of fire and the start of using lightning.
Upon the night of the Sultan selection, Sho and Ren were to stay away from each other until the sun touched the land in its radiance. During the night, Sho wanted to meet up with his brother and wish him good luck, hoping that there was no hard feelings between them. Sho snuck out of his own room and went to go check on his brother, only to find that Ren was planning to conspire in order to become the only head. Ren was going to fire untrained and accidental lightning at their father and force Sho to make a choice, protect Dad or let him die. In the midst of the confusion, he'd go to check on his brother and then end his life there, claiming the position single-underhandedly. Sho, distraught and unable to think straight, broke into Ren's room and attacked him by midnight, the two fought but Ren fired lightning at Sho. Sho redirected the incoming lightning and damaged Ren's eyes to the point of never being able to use them again. Out of fear, the young Lao left the blind older brother to wallow in pain and hid from the family for multiple months.
Sho ran away from home after that and stowed himself away within a pirate ship that was escaping the fire nation. Ren became the next Sultan and issues out a worldwide warrant for his brother Sho to return home and face punishment of the highest extent. Sho hasn't been found yet.

The flashing lights were beginning to spark in the sky; the sun had come to set, the moon rising in its place. It was dark out, and yet there was so much color. Everything was so beautiful. The fields, the hilltops, the sky; with nothing but open space, everything around could be seen and admired. "Do you think it's gonna be like this forever, guys? We're already thirteen years old. We're gonna have to get jobs soon, defend against Spirits. Doesn't that scare you?" The girl, who was both innocent and kind, spoke to the rest of her friends: three boys, two girls, together forming five young children with starry eyes. "I think," Haman started, reaching his arms out to pull everyone together. "That it'll be this way for as long as we keep it alive. The Spirits . . . the adults . . . they can't take from us if we won't let go." The boy smiled, and so too did everyone else.
Haman was always so beautiful, so strong. Everyone always looked up to him. When I was enlisted as an assassin, I decided to abandon Tang, my old name, and embrace a name much like his. It made me feel as if I were connected again to him, and that starry-eyed group of friends.
Years ago, we found our home. We became fifteen years old, old enough to work jobs and make money for hunting spirits. We were some really good benders, especially Haman, Kama and I. Haman even knew how to cleanse a Dark Spirit; he was everything to us, our pride and joy. As we moved into our home together in Republic City, he was always the one we looked to for guidance. I think he enjoyed his position as sort of . . . the big brother of the group. I think the reason he was always smiling was because in his mind, he had a lot to smile for. It made me smile, too. I really miss that sensation.
Eventually, the world proved to me that while light can shine out the darkness, darkness can also fester in the light. The boy who I had grown up with -- the boy I had grown to love, changed, the feelings he'd cherished for us . . . and especially myself . . . they became second place for something else, another feeling; a fear. I don't know exactly how it happened, but I know that Haman had always been so deeply connected to the Spirits. It was as if, as the world worsened and they grew darker, he became more and more detached. We watched our friend who was everything become nothing at all in the span of six months. Six short, long months that would have haunted us forever had we not had each other.
It was during this time that I began to understand the fate of the world, and that I had to help my nation survive these turbulent times. I remember the words he spoke to me, back then. Tang, he called my name. I love you -- but I don't love myself. I'm ashamed to be who I am. I'm ashamed to have been born in this world. He never clarified what he had meant, and yet I understand now more than ever. He was ashamed to be human. As much as he loved me and everyone else, he acknowledged that our kind was so weak. He couldn't ever dream of fighting off the inner battles that had been given off to him, nor to ever clear the Spirits of their darkness. He had begun to fill himself with hopelessness, that our kind may never be saved.
By the time he died . . . suicide, to my greatest regret . . . the Avatar had been revealed and had sworn to save the world and restore its balance. For the first few moments, I believed him, the Sages, and the Gong Jen. But like many others, I had come to realize just what the Avatar's words meant. They didn't mean anything. The Avatar was a spirit, one that fed the flame of darkness. Everyone had noticed that this Avatar was different too -- fearful, as if possessed.
Only humans could ever resolve this crisis. The man before our eyes was nothing but a double agent; one that could be switched to either side by the whim of his inner demon. I vowed to never give him too much power, to always keep him away from his ambitions. With the rise of the Spirit Bonds, other humans became capable of cleansing spirits and closing spiritual rifts. He had become outdated; a dangerous, unstable relic of the old world.
My nation employed me to the second highest rank of their assassin order, one below the commissioner. My goal was to kill people that may give power to the Dark Spirits, and to cleanse those monsters wherever I could find them. So -- I came here. I'm not sure how well I'll fare with a new group of friends. To be honest, I still feel as if I am with the people of old. I remember their bright blue eyes, their black, blue, brown, white hair . . . I remember their smiles. I don't think anything can ever replace that.

The Sultan handled that higher affairs of the military forces for the Fire Lord, in most cases, they commanded the entire rank of the military as the general and had the last say in any plans of invasion, guerrilla warfare, etc. The first Sultan was determined along the year of the spirits, the first one being Sho's father, Hue Yo Lao. Sho and Ren were his only two children and their mother had abandoned the poor boys when they were young, running away to the Earth Kingdom in order to hide. Ren cared about Sho but also held a deep resentment for his younger brother as Sho could firebend at at the ago of 7 with ease as it took two years longer for Ren to start. The same went with mastering the use of fire and the start of using lightning.
Upon the night of the Sultan selection, Sho and Ren were to stay away from each other until the sun touched the land in its radiance. During the night, Sho wanted to meet up with his brother and wish him good luck, hoping that there was no hard feelings between them. Sho snuck out of his own room and went to go check on his brother, only to find that Ren was planning to conspire in order to become the only head. Ren was going to fire untrained and accidental lightning at their father and force Sho to make a choice, protect Dad or let him die. In the midst of the confusion, he'd go to check on his brother and then end his life there, claiming the position single-underhandedly. Sho, distraught and unable to think straight, broke into Ren's room and attacked him by midnight, the two fought but Ren fired lightning at Sho. Sho redirected the incoming lightning and damaged Ren's eyes to the point of never being able to use them again. Out of fear, the young Lao left the blind older brother to wallow in pain and hid from the family for multiple months.
Sho ran away from home after that and stowed himself away within a pirate ship that was escaping the fire nation. Ren became the next Sultan and issues out a worldwide warrant for his brother Sho to return home and face punishment of the highest extent. Sho hasn't been found yet. Sho fled to the Earth Kingdom and died his hair color orange, from there, he took on a new persona and adapted to the style of earthbending, becoming Akira Pao Xing. From there, he joined the militia of the Earth Kingdom and under the earth king, he became the lieutenant of the forces.

Long ago when the man was but a boy in the nation of earth, he lived with a small family. The Ho clan were simple farmers, struggling to make end's meet in a broken nation. Often time they faced starvation. His parents chose to sell Kang to the nation in hopes of giving him a better life. Instead they introduced him to horrors. The boy was forced to grow up fast as he was trained to be a tool for destruction. They tortured him through all sorts of methods. His body bears the scares that he will hvae for the rest of his life; burns from fire, cuts from blades, horribile scrapes from earth. Kang-Dae was brought up to be an assassin, and an assassin he was. He killed tides of people with little to no emotion, until his orders were to slay a prominent family within the Earth country's own borders. They were dissidents, voicing concern and gaining a following against the current leadership. Kang slew each and every one of the family's lineage, except for a little girl. All of the others had begged and pleaded for their lives, but the little girl accepted her fate. She told Kang the spirits had been communing with her for a long time, and she was ready to move on. That changed everything for him. He returned to his headquarters and took down as many leaders as he could before fleeing for his life. The name Kang-Dae Ho was struck from memory for years as he disappeared. In that time, Kang meditated and searched for enlightenment. He got in touch with the spirits and eventually found a new path in life. He would assist the avatar in repairing the world, hopefully in atonement for his transgressions.

Rohaku's father a complex man who sought nothing more than to bring peace into the Fire Nation, but his ideals troubled the royal family as the man wanted to expand the Fire Nation's Royalty branch into different families of benders. He believed total discrimination against those who were non-benders and/or different benders could deteriorate if everyone was a part of 'something'. However, this troubled the higher-ups as they began to scheme a way to silence Rohaku's father once and for all.
Little did they know Rohaku's father began to start his plan way before they were able to stop it. He fell in love, but not with just any woman. She was a water bender from the lower Southern water-tribe who specialized in dark arts but his father did not know, but they were madly in-love with each other. Soon enough the water-bender female turned pregnant, but sadly the Southern Water-Tribe found out the father's name and the news spread like wildfire. When word reached the Fire Nation main branch they sentenced Rohaku's father to death, for treason against the Main Family. Before his death he uttered the words: "The sun always sets on the Fire Nation, and the Moon will rise to take it's place."
The female water-bender was protected by her tribe, but the Fire Nation wanted that baby in order to raise him properly. They fought off the armies for countless days in order to protect their own but the Fire Nation's armies were just too powerful and came in voluminous numbers. The woman was captured and taken into the Fire Nation as a pampered slave until her baby was born, but a rumor broke out about a 'Blood moon' and on that day ... things changed. The female had self-taught herself blood bending hoping to escape with her child but the baby's due date was becoming closer and time was running out. She then planned her escape as the crimson tint covered the night sky. Sirens screeched as she broke out and she knew it was only time before they caught her .. or worse, killed her and the baby. She was ...unstoppable. The mother would not give up and the firebenders could not harm her or the baby as rules dictated the son or daughter is Fire nation royalty, she fought against many of the benders using her blood-bending until it was too late. She reached the border of the Fire Nation as her soles touched the brisk waves that moved to and fro. She fell onto her knees as her water broke and she was forced into labor as the Fire Nation army stood upon her. The baby was born in a puddle of blood in the sea and a single man began to walk from the large crowd.
She could not speak a word but the only sign of life came from the slightest twitch of her lower mouth. A smile. He would reach for the baby as the mother was slipping away from this world. As he touched the baby and removed the umbilical cord a quick hand touched his arm. It was her once more but this time she had no fight left in her. She spoke a name, the name of the baby. "Rohaku". Ro for his father, Rozan. Haku from his mother, Kahaktsumi. As it turned out to be a boy.
