It had been days since that insulting male had been around. Ushma may have staked out the spot the two had met in hopes of ambushing that lion in to submission. It was the equivalent of a chick stalking a guy she had one glimpse of at a coffee shop and endlessly going to said coffee shop in hopes he might be there and never admitting to her self that maybe he just didn't notice her because she wasn't good enough. But the coffee would be ordered and many lonely afternoons would be spent waiting for that special some one to walk through those trendy doors as hope came spiraling and smashing to oblivion. Still , every day she'd order an over priced coffee and wait for him. Only this was lions, and they couldn't order coffee. But Ushma now played that role of that girl and boy did she wait day in and day out when she wasn't upholding her duties around the pride. Every empty afternoon just hurt that much more and caused her to second guess if that male had ever actually been a thing. Ushma didn't like playing this role of the one waiting for her chance.
Well it wasn't like she had any kind of feelings right, just a bone to pick. Sides that male wasn't anything special, he was not even worth the sand he had so carelessly hit her with. Ushma was not about to admit that she had a thing for a lion she thought of as lesser than her self.
He was like that boy, though not the most physically fit and possibly just a string bean compared to the rest, had this kind of style to him. Something cool how he just didn't seem to care and seemed to just go on his way with what ever it was he wanted to do. That cool kid who just wore what he wanted to wear and went on his way seemingly more complex on the out side than maybe he actually was on the inside. The more Ushma thought about him the more she wanted to push his face in the sand and make him eat it. Oooooohhhh he made her so mad. The lioness didn't know what to do with her self.
Time and time again she'd stop by and wait to no fruits of her effort. The pride wasn't the biggest one ever, she could easily storm around the dens but that would show signs of her caring. Not that this waiting around didn't. It did, but Ushma could say she was doing something else instead.
However, on an evening where the clouds had parted just enough to let star light cast its favored glow upon the sea and shore, did she find that lean male. He was in the same place looking for something just as he'd been the first time she'd happened upon him. He seemed pretty content just digging around for probably that same sharpening claw stone he'd been looking for that first time. Oh this was rich.
During the time that Ushma spent, hrmmm, stalking, no, staking out, she'd found a stone he was sure he'd want. Ushma carried the small thing in her maw towards the digging male quite sure of her self. Her steps showed confidence as she tossed the thing towards his head hitting him square in the forehead.
Beflecken let out a groan of pain and looked around from where the object had come from finding that lioness from earlier. Uh oh? Was he going to have to fight this viking female? He hadn't wanted to fight her earlier but if that was what she wanted he'd give her a fight. The white maned dark lion stood readied just in case.
Ushma gave the lion a confident smile. She had his attention this time. Good. And it looked like he was going to stand his ground this time as well instead of run away like a pus. Also good. The lioness took a few steps forward. If he was to run she'd chase him down this time.
"Is that what you were looking for before? A claw sharpening stone? Well I found it." She was quite happy with the stone she'd found.
"Uh." Beflecken looked down at the stone and then at the female. Strange. She thought that it was stupid before. "Actually .. I found one of those that day we met but thanks. I'm actually looking for muscles and clams today."
The confident Ushma's face fell in to something of anger. What was this? He'd found one! But he hadn't before! She'd found a perfect one. Oh the lioness was furious now! All of that for nothing?!?
"YOU LISTEN HERE YOU LITTLE s**t ! YOU'RE GOING TO HOLD ON TO THAT ROCK AND KEEP IT CLOSE TO YOU SO YOU'LL REMEMBER MY NAME!" Ushma roared.
Beflecken wasn't really terrified or scared but he was uncomfortable. What was the big deal with this rock any ways? She'd thought it was stupid before but now it was something he needed?
"Uh. I don't know your name." Fleck pointed out.
"WHY!!!" Oh wait, Ushma had never given it. She calmed down some but still carried a rather annoyed expression on her features, "It's Ushma. Don't you forget it either or I'll beat you in to submission you lily livered yellow bellied flower blooded wimp!" There. He'd not forget that.
"Why do you care that I have your name. It doesn't really make any sense to go though all that trouble just so I'll remember your name. Why would anyone go through such great lengths to be remembered and then insult the person they wanted them to be remembered by." Fleck frowned. "Sides I remembered you just well enough to stay away from these shores. I've seen you lurking here a lot recently and I just don't like fighting women because they are weak."
Women were weak!? Oooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that was it! Ushma couldn't even form words with how mad she was now. The lioness took several bold steps forward until she was upon the male. Fleck this time looked like he would accept her challenge if she was to attack. Good.
"YOU LISTEN HERE! YOU DISMISSED ME LAST TIME AND INSULTED MY-" She was cut short by laughter from Fleck.
"Is this really what this is all about? I didn't realize you had a crush on me or something. Dear gods. Is that why you've been hogging this part of the shores? Creeeepppyyyy." His own features turned in to something quite soft. "Sorry I didn't mean to make fun of you. I've just never had some one stalk me quite like that."
"I M NOT ! No, we're not doing this. I challenge you to a fight tomorrow morning HERE on THESE rocky shores. I am an equal if not more to a lesser male like your self. I'll put your paws where your maw is so watch out!" She growled.
"Okay. Sounds fun~. " Fleck smiled, "Here tomorrow than. Don't chicken out or you'll have proven me right. Names Beflecken by the way."
So it was set. The two would fight here tomorrow.
