The sky darkened with stormclouds typical of the area. The air was filled with a thick, musky humidity that always preceded the rains and the static that always came right before a storm. The trees in the distance bent and swayed with the winds, their canopies hissing. Closer by, the waves of the lake slapped the shoreline, whispering through the rocks and rolling in great, foamy formations back and forth. It was a miserable time to be out, but Lazarus found himself between a rock and a hard place. On one paw, his mistress needed several new ingredients for a potion she wished to try. She needed them. Yesterday. They weren't easy to come by nor were they something he could find just around the corner. No, he had to walk quite a ways to collect them.
On the other paw he had a storm roaring in the distance, darkening the sky, and bending the land itself to its whims. Of the two- he would brave the storm's fury. His mistress was clever with her potions and could make his life miserable. There were some patches of missing fur on his paws where some potions had failed in their intended uses. He'd been ill after trying another one just a few days ago and still his head ached slightly. Some worked just fine, however, he couldn't say they were all bad. One put him right to sleep, for example, and he had felt quite good after waking. Another eased an ache in his paw that he'd earned collecting weeks before.
Perhaps she'd have a bit of both as a reward. All he wanted was a good sleep and the comfort of a clear head.
The lion was a strange sight. Long, gangly limbs. His frame was thin as a lithe and his mane was thin and hung about him like a damp pelt. His pointed shoulders rose high over his sloped spine and his dark eyes stared out of a thin, grim face. It looked as if a smile had never crossed his features. In fact, most had come to call him 'dead eyes' as he walked with no clear purpose or motivation in his stride. He acknowledged few lions and spoke even less. That day was no different.

"Come on Karm, please!" the lighter lioness begged as they walked together, although her darker counterpart seemed to be hurrying at a fast pace trying to lose the lighter one. But, Fen'li knew she never would do that on purpose...right?
No, of course not.
Karm was like her sister, they stayed otgehter.
Always.
Even now..when Karm was trying to get away so avidly.
"No Fen," Karm said sighing, shaking her head. She was in no mood to go see if others needed something. She wanted to train, to be noticed, be seen, see if there was something more, besides thrall, that she could do.
Fen was happy the way things were, Karm, was unsettled. Though Karm would never abandon Fen'li here, she was not that type of lioness.
"We would be helpful, and it would be kind and-"
"No."
"But-"
"NO!" Karm's patience was wearing thin today.

He could hear bickering up ahead. With the storm above, the sea to one side, and the furious trees to the other it was a strange thing to have two female voices be more distracting than the thunder up ahead. He was used to the sound of the storm, of the sea, of the wind and water. The sound of others...however... he distinctly avoided.
Clenching his jaw he pressed on, his eyes staring through anything and anyone ahead of him. Slender and almost listless in his stride, the thrall came within earshot of the two females. When most would find it impolite to keep silent at such a distance, he found it perfectly normal. He offered no word in greeting, no nod of acknowledgement- nothing. He stared right through the two females and kept walking forward.
Undetoured by the two in his way, he attempted to simply barge his way in between them and go along his way.

Karm went to say something to Fen and saw moment and stood close to Fen, maneuvering around her body and pushing her to one side. As if snaking around her an having Fen'li end up behind her.
"Hey!"
"Quiet!" Karm snapped, looking to Fen then the strange. He had a loko on his face Karm was unsure of.
Fen'li watched Karm and went to say something not so nice and then looking to the male and stopped, her mouth ajar, just watching him. His markings, they were so..intriguing. So very different, like hers but alive and swirling into something of meaning. WHat did it mean?
Who was he?
Karm was unsure of him, strange as he waas. Strange demeanor and said nothing. Odd, "Who are you?" Karm said bluntly, watching his swift, but almost clumsy movements. "What do you want?"
