She hated storms. More so, she loathed the storms. She didn’t know why, but every time the sky began to darken, she would be fine in doors of the den, snuggled up on a bed of pelt, staying dry.
Tonight was not the case.
Tonight, Astrid was outside, watching the clouds roll in. It disturbed her how much the sky was darkening by the second. She shuddered. Something in her told her to go back inside, but another part just wanted her out here.
She listened to the latter.

The darkness the clouds gave to the earth helped cover the dark male as he moved over the Stormborn lands. His paws were crunching against the earth and stone. It felt like it had been forever since he had been back home, curled in his den with a good carcass to tide him over the rest of the evening. He was easy enough to please at least.
He leapt off the earth, his claws digging into the rocks that created the 'staircase' of sorts to the dens. It took a bit of practice to leap up the way he did, skipping a few stone steps in between each leap. He had done that as a cub more times than he could remember.
But he was no cub now, and he was set to become a Reaver.
The idea excited him, and he began to purr deep in his throat. Lightning shattered the darkness, lighting up the land and his head jerked up to look. Lightning was an amazing thing to watch. Light that etched through the sky as if it was it's personal canvas. It was chaotic.. He'd always loved storms. Rain? Not so much.. but storms they could be exceptionally entertaining.
A quick flash of light from a bolt in the sky was enough to get Astrid off her seat, and headed back towards the den.
At least, she would have, if she hadn’t collided with something big and something solid.
The lioness gasped softly, bright pink eyes widening as she took in the form of the grown lion. She was a thrall, and running into another who wasn’t of her ‘rank’ was a big no-no in her book. The pale female backed away quickly, gazing at the ground for a moment. Should she chance looking this other in the eye?
“I’m sorry,” she said quickly.

There was something familiar about the lioness that ran into him. Something about the way she looked reminded him of his thrall that had served him when they had all been younger. Though the rest of the siblings clung to the idea of having a slave, Kaitrus was just happy to have the guy around. He had always been one of his friends, and so instantly he felt a likeness towards the female. He was big enough that her running into him, hardly moved him at all. He was a tall, muscled yet lean lion. Taking after his mother's frame, as his father was a bit thicker than he had become.
"Careful, it's easy to fall on these cliffs." He chuckled, halting his steps and a paw was raised in the air as he looked down at her. He wasn't the best at socializing; usually having a hard time wording what he meant. But he had a sense of charm that sometimes seemed to make of for it.
"It's a dangerous night, shouldn't you be tucked cozy in your bed?" He asked, an eyebrow arching.
She ducked slightly at the raised paw, expecting something to come at her. Her mother, a reaver, never hit her, but others in the pride weren’t as friendly to the thrall status as her mother.
“Err…Right…” she said cautiously. She basically grew up on the cliffs, she had definitely been able to compose herself of the ledge. The rain, which was coming quite soon by the sounds of the near-deafening thunder, would make the rocks slick. Even the strongest of lions would lose their footing against the downpour.
“I’m sorry,” she murmured again, taking a moment to glance at whom she had actually run in to. She knew this male, if not but briefly in passing. He had grown, just like she had.
“I was...heading back home now,” she said softly to the male. “I should uhm…head back now.”

He saw her flinch at his raised paw, and cleared his throat, placing it back down on the earth. His mom would throttle him if she thought he raised his paw to a female.. Sure his mom was a b***h, and she didn't get along with most anyone. But she did a good job raising her boys to respect the weaker race.
"No need for apologies. I'm the one not paying enough attention after all." He chuckled lightly, his fire colored eyes landing on her once more. They held a gleam that was genuine, but a touch mysterious.
"I've seen you around before.." He deduced while she was standing there. He had just blurted it out, hoping to keep her around. He didn't mind the company, and he was all for it being a lady's company too.
"Name's Kaitrus. It's a pleasure." He said with a bow of his head.
Astrid just nodded. It really was her fault for running into the male, but she found her words nonexistent for the time being.
Her head tilted at the male. She definitely hadn’t seen him in a while, but perhaps when they were younger. She wasn’t one to remember names either, so she was rather glad when he introduced himself as Kaitrus. “Probably when we were cubs?” She explained to him, letting the words know that she had been around the pride since she was born (or so she thought).
“I’m...” she gazed around, as if this meeting was forbidden.
“I’m Astrid.” She let a quick smile grace her maw. Maybe not all the lions in this pride were ‘baddies’.

He noticed her eyes flicking around, as if making sure she was safe..Or maybe she was waiting for someone. His eyes followed, looking around them and then landed back on her once more. He raised an eyebrow, cocking his head at her.
"Am I keeping you, Astrid?" He asked, suddenly aware maybe she had somewhere to be. He wasn't exactly the most social of lions, he wished he was right now though. He hoped it wasn't the case, because that would be rude of him. Momma had always warned him of being rude to females. He had far too much respect for his mother to be anything but charming.
She had a pretty smile, he noticed. He let his own smile show, though he was glad he was as dark as he was. It hid the blush that tinged his cheeks and threatened to have others make fun of him for being a girl.
“Oh uhmm…” Should she lie? She really didn’t have somewhere to be, but…it was just strange being around anyone who wasn’t a thrall, or a female.
“I really should get back to my mother,” she said quietly, eyeing Kaitrus, before flicking the pink orbs in the direction of the family den. It didn’t matter if she was an adult, her family was number one.
“But umm…maybe I’ll see you around?” She offered to the other.

When she said she had to return to her mother, he let out a sigh of relief. Though he hadn't realized he had done it. So it wasn't a male she was looking to go see? He could work with that. He smiled, this time one of his own, charming smiles that won him the hearts of the lions he did interact with.
"Well if she's anything like you, I'm sure she's amazing." He said with a wink, before nodding his head. "I'd say you can count on it, Astrid. It was a pleasure." He said, bowing his head in respect, and turning to return back int he direction he had come.
He'd have to seek her out again..someday.
