A few days since his last fight with that blond-maned scrap of a lion and Mahewa felt he'd recovered enough to make another attempt. He hadn't been injured by the fight, not really, but he'd been shown how out of shape he was, and he'd taken some time away from the border to sharpen his claws and get back into fighting shape. He felt stronger now - though he'd always felt strong, and what bruises and cuts he had had faded and sealed up. He was sleek, if still somewhat grayed, and this time he'd put that little sun spot in his place.
He stalked up to the border, peered around - no sign of the ball of golden fur yet, but he'd seek him out personally. He could challenge anyone, of course, but he'd not feel right turning up in the heart of the pride and meeting face to face with someone he'd lost to. No, he'd put that young upstart in his place if it killed him. "Get out here you puff ball, or I'll instead see if your mother's fur's as soft as yours! My claws are itching and I'll sink them into one or the other of you!" Mahewa didn't remember his own mother. But insulting had been a prime portion of the fight before. He'd gathered that it was expected to try to be somewhat foul tongued, and honestly, whatever female had birthed such a fine young warrior really might be worth his time. He'd had his share of lovers, but he rolled the idea around in his mind. He certainly was old enough to be the golden lion's father... Well. That was kind of funny. He'd really only meant to be insulting, but there'd be plenty of tail to chase once he joined, he was sure.

So the old man was back.
Thor smirked as he stalked his way down the jagged rocks that dotted the border. It was damp still from the late night rains and the mist swirling off in the horizon seemed thicker, more sinister. He shook his head and turned his attention back to the elder waiting for him on the border. Rolling his massive shoulders, Thor tested the ground under them. Good, solid stone. Damp- but that would make things a little more interesting.
"YOU RETURN. VERY GOOD. IF YOU CANNOT BEAT ME IN A DAY, YOU MIGHT TRY TO DULL MY CLAWS BY TESTING THEM TIME AND AGAIN." He charged forward and took a rough blow to the side of his face. It stung- but not as much as the insult had.
The lion's easy going, almost friendly demeanor melted away in an instant. He loved a friendly fight. There were no hard feelings in a verbal spar and a physical tussle- but the lion had crossed a line. His mother... his dear mother had died in a manor which was most befitting of a female of her caliber. She was a proper lady, a devoted wife, and a warm mother. She did not deserve to have her name spat on, even in jest.
"YOU GO TOO FAR!" He bellowed, throwing his full weight in a powerful strike.

Aha... Well there was something to be said for the young lion's eagerness. Of course, on some level he felt a twinge of regret for hitting on what was clearly a touchy subject, but it didn't keep him from taking advantage of the other male's rage. He took the blow with a hacking grunt - okay, that HAD hurt, but the enemy hadn't danced out of range like he had before. His returning slap was aimed at the male's head, and he gave a snarl of his own in reply.
"I go too far? Pathetic cub in a grown lion's body, you can curse and be crass but you can't contain your own anger?" Another strike, just as fierce and firm, aiming to take advantage of Thor's over-angry state. Maybe he had gone a bit too far, but if Thor was going to shirk his duty as a warrior and toss down his pride in the face of his own blind anger, then Mahewa would beat it into him that he was doing his mother no honor.
"All fire and no force! Your paws are like a dainty girl-cub's!"

Thor caught himself on all fours and lashed at the air with his tail. The playfulness all but left his eyes and the fires of war burned brightly. Bearing his teeth, the lion turned to face his foe with an angry snarl. There were lines to be avoided, never to be crossed. It was all well and good to insult one another, but family was important. That was a line he well avoided. Some vikings had thicker hides and some had little love for those that they shared blood with, but he was not among them.
"QUIET YOUR TONGUE, OLD MAN." He pointed a claw over and ground his teeth. "YOU HAVE LEARNED MUCH BUT THERE ARE LINES EVEN WE DO NOT CROSS. I WILL SHOVE THOSE INSULTS DOWN YOUR DAMNED GULLET AND WATCH YOU CHOKE ON THEM!"
Roaring again, he made a wild charge and threw his paw out. To his dismay, his claws sang as they met with only air.

A disappointed huff was all the reply Thor got out of Mahewa this time. He'd lived among demons all his life until recently, and frankly felt that what insult he'd given (while perhaps unwarranted) did not require such a savage response. The blond was not in control of his emotions or his strikes, and it was a pitiful shame to see the great fighter Mahewa KNEW he was go all to bits in his blind anger. He could have said worse, done worse. Words were words and little more than air, yet they'd stung his opponent worse than any lashing claw. Disappointing.
He ducked the nearly wild swings with ease, frowning deeply as he dove in close, grappling with the younger male. They were both large, and it'd be hard to say who was larger, but the darker male at least had his wits and his head clear, and he wasted little time in tucking his chin to his throat and twisting to try to find a hold on the others neck once they were chest to chest.
"Good luck with that, boy, when you can't even see through the haze of your anger well enough to smack an old man who's easily as big as you," He grunted, maw somewhere below and behind the blond's ear.

Thor found himself being thrown back and pinned in the other male's hold. He swore, vividly, and began thrashing about in a blind attempt to shake his opponent and return to the fight. His heart beat in his ears, loud as war drums, and seemed to close off his hearing as well. Wild, unbridled anger boiled out of his body, tensing his muscles and flowing off his tongue in the form of vivid swearing and empty threats.
Anger, sadly, was one of his weakest points. Loki often played on that knowledge and drove Thor into stupid situations. He had scars to tell the story of each of these lapses of judgement. This story, however, he had no one else to blame for baiting him. The wound was still very raw and very open .
"YOU CANNOT HOLD ME FOREVER! EVENTUALLY YOU WILL GIVE WAY TO EXHAUSTION!"

Mahewa did not waste his breath muttering any more advice to Thor now. He was out of his head with fury, and the best thing for the both of them would probably be to end it as quickly as could be done. It was a mistake to goad the youth, sure, but it was a worse blunder that someone, a pride's chosen claw to fight and voice to represent them, had reacted this way.
He swung a huge, heavy paw at Thor, catching with claws if he could and dragging them through the short fur of his flank. He was not at all afraid to leave scars - they were worth being proud of usually, but perhaps when the young male looked on these he'd remember the lesson in keeping his head cool. Just a bit more now and he'd have his win, his new home, and hopefully the boy'd have sense to boot.

Thor swore again as his hide was neatly torn into, leaving a deep, weeping wound along his side. He threw his forelimb out, forcing some distance between himself and his foe. He tested his step, both in the front and in the back, and found that while the wounds stung and smarted, they weren't deep enough to hinder his movement or leave him with a permanent limp. Still, it had hurt. Later, perhaps in the clarity of hindsight, he would resent more the wound to his pride than the wound to his side.
Turning to his foe, another roar rolled forward and shook his chest cavity. He made his charge, rearing up to his hindquarters to throw both paws out to strike. ShinosBee 1,520 - Word count so far!

Mahewa sucked a breath as he was shoved away - in his blind drive, Thor'd knocked some of the wind from his already stinging chest. Maybe in a few years that'd be enough to slow him, but not just yet. He rose to meet the enemy, taking a smarting blow across the shoulder, but resisting the urge to be shoved over or any loss of height advantage.
He gave a last deafening roar in the face of his opponent before giving him a firm shove backwards and dropping back to all four feet. He tossed his mane, stalking away from the young upstart. "Well?" He demanded. "You're bloody and torn, and even a fool would say I've bested you. Did you forget this was a challenge, not a true fight? I'll not have your hide and your life unless you force them on me, so control yourself, gods dammit!" He was ready to WIN, and tired of this irritating, wild-minded male. What honor and fun was there in baiting a wild animal for sport? Not much, not even for an ex-demon.

Thor took the blow, swearing again as it handed hard along the side of his shoulder. He threw one last blow out. While it hit, he was clearly exhausted from the injury he had taken in the side. His adrenaline was burning off, clearing his head somewhat. Anger and insult still coiled in his gut, gnawing at his wounded pride and throbbing in the back of his mind.
Damnit....
He growled and turned away. "DO NOT PATRONIZE ME, NEWCOMER. GO SEE THE SPEAKER OF THE LAW. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT FOLLOW ME."ShinosBee And end there! Thor's going to cool off. XD He has the worst temper.
