[1v1] P2P (Petro and Pachua)

Petro liked the gym. Things were a lot simpler for him here, where it was about the body and the movement and the rhythm. Of course there were techniques and strategies and skill involved in sparring, even in practices against a dummy the mental aspects were important. But for the most part, Petro refrained over-thinking things and simply let his muscles do what came naturally. Right now, he was shadow boxing, sort of. There were kicks being thrown and bobbing and weaving while shifting from human to natural form in between.

He slipped inside cautiously, he’d never really visited the gym, mostly because he felt small. Regardless of his natural size in comparison to some of the others, he was smaller than most of his family and his student ‘form’ were small accordingly, or so he suspected.

He didn’t –think- he knew the boil who was shadow boxing there, shifting between student form and his natural shape which was quite curious on its own, jabbing, punching, all with ease and confidence. He must be at least a second year Pachua decided, to so easily shift back and forth.

He didn’t want to interrupt, or to be kicked for intruding at the wrong time so he moved carefully trying to find a good perch to watch from, a real ‘perch’ if he could find one in fact.

Petro was not the sort of boil to feel self-conscious about being watched (unless it involved a blackboard, an equation, and chalk in his hands but that was a different matter altogether.) And so he continued his warm up, allowing his limbs to limber up with varying strikes in both forms. It was when he was in the middle of a high kick did he notice he wasn't alone.

Rather than fight against the momentum, Petro flowed with it to allow him to face the unfamiliar boil. "Y' lookin' for a sparring partner?" he asked. His breathing still regular and there was barely a sheen of sweat on his tanned, scarred skin. For all intents and purposes, the monster horse looked like he had just started rather than having been there for almost an hour.

“Uh…” the startled reply was…something less than eloquent, and he actually looked around as though he expected some ghoul or boil to have appeared from the woodwork to be a more likely candidate for the question.

“I was just, I’ve never come in here so…” He fumbled with the worlds and drew his wings in very close, the feathers drawing tight to make him seem smaller in that moment, or at least his wings smaller at least.

“Uh… sure?” he finished shifting from foot to foot with a small chime from the bells he’d added around one ankle since the last time he was at school.

The monster horse blinked in surprise, there were students who have never been to the gym? He didn't think it was possible, but here was one boil admitting to this fact. The thought the other boil was being less than honest never occurred to the monster. In an attempt to set him at ease, Petro gave him a warm smile, "Better late'n never, yeah? 'M Petro, y' can call me Tro." He extended a hand in greeting and welcome, trying to uphold the ideals of honor and fairness and politeness before they got down to the actual spar. They'll have time to decide just how serious they were going to take this fight.

“Pachua, first year but… sort of just returning too.” He admitted. “I’ve been, gone, out of the loop, came back to a lot of strange though so, I guess this is a good thing to learn?”
He took the proffered hand, flicking a nervous tongue out over his lips to taste the air. Kind of a rude habit to have when you were standing around as a human but he didn’t like not tasting it occasionally, and just hanging your mouth open looked MORE stupid he thought.

“So uh…what do we do? I mean besides…you use me to dust the gym.”

The taller boil just laughed encouragingly, "That remains to be seen. Y' never know how good y' are 'till y' try." He led Pachua towards the center of the Gym where they would have more room to move and fight without worrying about damaging school property. At least, not enough that they'd have to pay for it out of their own pockets.

"Y' make the first move," Petro instructed, his stance relaxed and loose and open.

“I um…” He hesitated, eyeing the currently larger Boil and worried his lip. “Should I um… hmm…”

He frowned for a moment and then opted to stick for now with his student form at the least. He Skidded forward to Box at the taller Boil with an inward CLAP of his wings.

An arm rose to shield against the wing, the blow barely grazing against the bracer. "Not bad," he nods, using the same arm that blocked to knock the wing away, "Use whatever advantage y' got," and followed up with an attempt to grab Pachua into a headlock. He purposely kept himself open, waiting to see the instincts and reaction time of his opponent.

He hissed, an explosive sound and clutched his wings close as the Boil went for the headlock. "And natural disadvantages." He grumbled, feathers could really hurt sometimes, bent ones were worse he'd probably have to do some plucking after this.
He took a chance and shifted to his natural form, much easier to remove yourself from a headlock when your neck was the same width as much of your body. He twisted his tail around though to issue a smack with the tip, feathered or not there was still a snake tail in there.

The horse boil had not expected the shorter boil's natural form to be so large. It had taken him by surprise and the strike from the tail came from a blind spot. Rather than feel embarrassed, Petro simply grinned, rubbing the spot Pachua had struck before attempting to put distance between them. "Good! Y' keep using your forms as best y' can!"

The now considerably larger wings gave what seemed a shiver of satisfaction and a long indigo forked tongue danced out from the white maw, brushing the faint pattern on it's lower jaw that was the only suggestion of the tattoos beneath, faded yet hinting.

It nodded at the congratulations and the advice, fanning a crown of feathers like a moments warning before lunging forward with a snap of jaws, though careful of his own small teeth. (Small being somewhat relative)

Petro remained where he was, raising an arm in time to let his bracers take the brunt of the bite. Immediately, he shifts to his natural form, while still dwarfed by Pachua's, the monster horse intends to make us of the extra mass and height gained. With the feathered serpent's mouth still clamped on his arm, the scarred boil sharply pulls upward, raising the head up to expose that throat. The open-palmed strike that followed wasn't meant to be too forceful but it should sting some.

The snake made a coughing sound at the strike. The whole body drawing in on itself in a waving contraction of discomfort. Ribs shifting beneath large pearlescent scales as he flexed to move.

The jaws tightened for a moment before they released and the snake moved back onto its own coils. A low arch of his upper body and wings spread half way with a shiver of feathers.

Petro takes the resulting bite in stride, "Try to put distance between y'rself and y'r opponent if y'r gotta catch y'r breath," he suggests. "Otherwise, y' give 'em a chance to follow up." And to prove his point, he charges forward, intending to ram his shoulder into the other boil's long body. And there was a lot of body for him to strike.
